Nice Product
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had been waiting for a black stainless steel countertop microwave to come out and am very happy that Samsung did. Overall it is visually very pretty. I just have two functional complaints. 1) When the unit is cooking you can barely see thru the glass to view the cooking in progress. On my previous unit I could monitor to assure that the food wouldn't boil over. Now it is very difficult. 2) One of my feature requirements was that the microwave have the Kitchen Timer feature. This one has the feature, however, it does not allow you to use the Kitchen Timer while cooking something at the same time. This is a huge flaw to me because many times I am cooking one thing while timing something else at the same time. Very upsetting. ... Overall the unit seems to cook very nicely so I would still give it a positive rating. I'm just very sad that these two features don't work - things you assume would still work since previous units did this no problem. Why go backwards.

We regret this purchase
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We've had the microwave just over a year now. I'm back online looking to possibly replace it though. First the good - I think it looks nice! I love that you can shut off the annoying beeps and sounds. I really wish you could do that on all microwaves. Now for the bad - the performance is very erratic and below average. I have spent time with the features and read the manual and the sensor cooking definitely wants to burn things. Even when food is spread evenly on a plate (not a big mound) - there will sometimes be a cold spot. Not always. That's why I said it's erratic. We've resorted to using the 30 second button for pretty much everything. Considering the price and features of this model - that's a shame. I did take the time to learn them and try them and they just don't perform well or consistently. The other thing I really hate is you can't see inside even a tiny bit when cooking. I wasn't expecting a strobe light and I don't make a habit of standing there watching my food. BUT I do want to be able to see if the bowl of oatmeal might be close to spilling over. That's completely impossible with this model as it is so dark inside. While I like the look and that we can shut off sounds - I hate that it cooks erratically and not that well. We overspent for just using the 30 second feature. We regret this purchase and I really wish I had returned it.

When a microwave isn't starting or heating, it is most common because it is in Demo mode. This mode is used on retail showroom floors to show off microwaves without activating their magnetron. The microwave also won't heat if it does not have enough clearance or ventilation. If the microwave turns on but does not heat, checking a few settings and the installation will help resolve the issue. This applies to both regular microwave heating and convection heating.
Samsung microwave is not heating or has stopped working https://www.samsung.com/us/support/troubleshooting/TSG01001963/
Borosilicate glassware is used in the microwave oven because it is highly thermal resistant. Glass is a non-crystalline, hard but brittle solid material formed from the mixture of silica and silicate. This is necessary to keep the microwave energy inside of the microwave. It a required for both the operation of the oven and for safety. If it was not there, the energy would not stay in the microwave oven, it wouldn't cook your food, and it would be dangerous for you.
Like any other lightbulb, you need to change your microwave's oven light once in a while. But don't worry, it only takes a minute to replace the bulb with a new one, and soon you'll be cooking fast, delicious meals again.
Caution: When replacing the oven light or cooktop light, make sure that you are wearing gloves to avoid injury from the heat of the bulb.

Satisfied With My Purchase
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this about a month ago, but so far so good. The quality of the unit is good (appears well built). I especially like the ceramic coating on the interior, it should resist corrosion (my old microwave had started to rust on the inside). It operates satisfactorily and seems to be a good value for the price. This oven DOES have a light inside that comes on when you open the door and when the unit is operating, but the light is dim, and you may not see it when the door is closed in a brightly lit kitchen. The buttons ARE NOT hard to push, but do understand that it is not a touch screen - it does take a bit of pressure to operate. Finally, it would be helpful if the buttons were backlit (can't see them clearly if the room is dark), but that's not a big issue.

Cooking performance was erratic & frustrating.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After our six-year-old Kenmore microwave died, I did a lot of research before purchasing this Samsung microwave. My main reasons for buying this one were that it had mostly good reviews, and it was one of the VERY FEW microwaves that still allowed users to turn off the annoying bell/buzzer sound. We had to special order the microwave, as the store was out of stock. In reality, Best Buy was discontinuing this model. I wish the salesperson had told me it was a discontinued product, as that would have caused me to get a different brand and/or model. When the microwave FINALLY came in several weeks later, we picked it up at the store and took it home. The microwave was very attractive both outside and on the inside, and it looked great on our kitchen countertop. Unfortunately, the Samsung microwave's performance did not equal its nice appearance. Its cooking was inconsistent, frustrating and disappointing. Occasionally, it actually would cook the food properly. Most of the time, though, the Sensor Cooking would leave food nearly burned, while the timer showed the Sensor still wanted to cook it for several additional minutes. At other times, the food would be extremely hot around the edges while still being ice cold in the center. And, because the dark window in the door made it impossible to see the food during cooking, we often ended up with inedible results. Also, after more than two dozen attempts to heat up individual slices of frozen pizza, using just about every possible combination of the functions on the control panel, we never even ONCE got a slice that was not either nearly charred or half-bubbling around the edges and still frozen in the middle! We finally simply gave up on using any of the Sensor functions and just cooked everything by doing one minute at a time with the timer and then opening up the door to see how the food was doing. I did contact Best Buy about returning the microwave for refund or exchange, but they told me that because it was a discontinued model and it had been more than two weeks since we'd purchased it, I was basically out of luck and should contact Samsung with our complaints. I decided it was not worth the hassle. I went to our local Sears store and bought a Kenmore microwave almost identical to our old one that had recently died. The Kenmore's Sensor Cooking function for "frozen pizza" thawed and heated up a slice of frozen pizza perfectly right out of the box with the push of one button. Hooray! I should have originally just bought the Kenmore--for half the cost of the Samsung--right off the bat and saved myself much wasted time and frustration. One really nice feature of the Kenmore is that when cooking is in progress, the light inside comes on and you can actually SEE the food! The only negative about the Sears product is that we cannot disable the beeper that sounds with each button push and when the cooking cycle finishes. That will be a minor annoyance to put up with compared to the frustrations with the Samsung and with Best Buy's failing to advise me that the model I was purchasing was a discontinued item that could not be returned. One final comment: If microwave manufacturers want to greatly increase their sales, all they need to do is to include the capability for users to turn off the darned bells/buzzers on every one of their models. This function used to be standard on almost all microwaves many years ago, but for some reason most manufacturers no longer have this very useful and appreciated feature on their products.

Can't see my food, and it rattles
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I like to be able to see my food in the microwave - like oatmeal, to prevent overflow, or so I know when water is boiling or butter is melted - but I couldn't do this with this microwave. The interior had a dark finish and an extremely weak light, so when cooking you couldn't see a thing inside through the window. Honestly I have no idea why they put a window on it because it serves no purpose at all. Also, the microwave rattled, or buzzed, in a bad way when running. There was something very wrong. We returned it immediately.

Too noisey and no interior light when running
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We did not like this microwave and quickly returned it for 2 reasons: 1) the noise level when running is much louder than other microwaves, and 2) there is no interior light when running and since the interior is dark it's impossible to see if something (like oatmeal) is bubbling over. Returned it quickly.

Do Not Buy this Microwave
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We have had this microwave for 18 months and it just completely went bazerk on us. It will not stop running unless you unplug it. We have all samsung kitchen appliances. They look amazing, but many need some fine tuning before I would repurchase. This unit cooks well, is well sized for dinner size plates and has nice features like “soften/melt” for butter and cream cheese. Reasons I will not be repurchasing this microwave: 1) You cannot see through the front of the door when your food is cooking. 2) If you press the button to open the microwave during a cooking cycle, it consistently resets the clock back to 12:00. 3) I feel like a microwave should last longer than 18 months. Back to the drawing board on this one Samsung.

Worst experience ever with an appliance purchase
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Ordered this to match recent Samsung range purchase. Had to order on-line as not stocked in store. Picked up at local store and box looked like UPS dropped on corner. DOA. Ordered second. Box didn't look much better and all styrofoam inside was pulverized, but at least microwave worked. Now clock randomly resets. Keypad sometimes becomes unresponsive until unplugged. Button to open door is flaking all of black coating after only 3 months. Loudest microwave that I've ever heard. Tried to return to Best Buy but told that I must go through Samsung. Called Samsung but they can't even find this model number in their system. Now I must arrange to be home for technician to come examine/repair. Way too much trouble for an item that should just be replaced under warranty.

Cheap product quality
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. All the reviews are accurate. This is so cheaply made, the housing feels like thin plastic, the door is super flimsy and components feel like they could come right off, the buttons are difficult to press, you cannot see inside the microwave while operating, the microwave rocks (bad foot alignment or cage is twisted slightly without ability to adjust the feet). I also have the 1.1 which is built solidly but was looking for something a little bigger, guess I will stick with the 1.1 cubic foot one. I will be returning the 1.4 tomorrow.
