It seemed as though both were very much the same; however, this unit was on sale so I decided to give it a try. It works nicely for the most part, but there are a few things I don't like at all: 1) there is no timer for the nightlight; 2) the microwave actually gets quite hot when you leave the light on the lowest setting (have to leave it on all of the time since there is no nightlight timer); 3) the handle gets extremely hot to the touch when I cook on my stove (it sits above my stove top). I actually wish I would have purchased my original GE model - even though the sales rep in the store said he gets more GE models returned than any other maker.

Why is my microwave getting too hot?
It is normal to feel a warm outer case on the control panel side. The heat is normal and comes from the power transformer. Further, cooking foods in a microwave oven for an extended period of time can cause a heat transfer not only to the internal oven walls and floor but to the external cabinet as well.
What happens if the microwave overheats?
If the Microwave is overheating and shutting itself down, this is caused by high voltage parts inside the unit getting too hot leading the thermal cut-out switch to be activated as a safety feature to prevent further overheating.

I wish it had a shortcut feature where I could just press the number and it would start in minutes. Buttons are a bit hard to press, not sensitive enough, but works fine. Can't complain too much, price was decent.
