Samsung Microwave

We had it installed. Soon after installation I realize the inside light stayed on and that my mother had to slam the door shut in order for the microwave to start. I said to her this does not seem right, you shouldn’t have to slam your door shut. Sure enough upon further investigation of the unit I realized that there was something wrong. I would not give this more than one star. Had I not noticed this just under the one-year warranty I would lose the opportunity to get it repaired all together and I’m hoping it’s not too late.

If your microwave door won't latch or is not closing properly, it may be because of a broken torsion spring. Luckily, this is an easy problem to diagnose and repair yourself. Torsion springs are used to keep the microwave door closed on units with doors that open downwards.
One major problem is when the door hooks cannot touch the switch to activate it. The door hooks will push into the alcove but cannot latch into place to engage a lock. If the hooks can not lock into place, they will not meet the switch to activate it.

I am particularly excited to try the self-cleaning function! I am also loving the fact that you can use the timer on the microwave and still cook with the microwave and not mess with the timer setting - - used to drive us crazy on our old microwave!
