    Cooks quickly but very loud

This microwave looks nice and matches my stove and other Samsung appliaces. The over-range light seems dim, even on the high setting. The microwave is LOUD every time it starts. The noise goes away after 4-5 seconds, but it is annoying. The exhaust fan is high powered, even on the lowest setting. We will never use in on levels 3 or 4. The +30 seconds button is not one touch - you still have to hit start after which is annoying, but not a deal breaker. I noticed the jump from 1,000 W on my old micowave to 1,100W on this one - food heats up VERY fast. Overall a decent microwave (especially for the price during Black Friday week sales) but I wish it didn't make so much noise every time we used it.

    Handsome and functional appliance

We purchased the microwave just before Christmas 2011. It was relatively easy to install ( basic carpentry skills - using a drill, finding a stud;had an over the range microwave already; otherwise, an electrician would have been needed to put in a dedicated "hidden" outlet). We wanted to use the recircle vent option but the instructions show an oven with a removable front grate at the top front where you would insert a charcoal filter. This mic has no such grate. We'll likely have to add duct work later to vent the mic outside. The appliance works fine except for the sensor cook option. It limits you to very few choices and tends to stay on too long when trying to reheat something - our main use for a mic. Otherwise it works well and has a cavernous opening/cooking area with a very large rotating plate.

    Microwave Works great

This microwave looks great, functionally it is a good microwave. The couple problems with it is the under counter light is dismal and the control panel is a little too complex. I've had this for about a month and i sill have trouble finding the start and stop button they are in the middle just like the other ones so they don't stand out very well. Also, you have to hit start after everything you do. with my old microwave you get +30 and it started cooking fast, simple. with this one you have to hit start after the +30. Also, I have enough clocks in the house to set so I usually don't set the one on the microwave but this one makes you set it. not usually a problem but we have had the lights flicker 3 times in the past month so i have had to set it 3 times. Also, again the control panel is too busy, finding the light, kitchen timer, or anything seems to be a pain. One would think after a month you could glance and start hitting buttons but neither me or my wife have adapted to the new panel, we stare at it for a couple seconds then start hitting buttons.

We purchased this microwave after the original one that came with our new home died. We've had it for about a month now and it's worked very well. Easy to clean, heats evenly, plenty of interior space. The interface isn't too complicared to understand and it overall looks nice. The sensor makes perfect popcorn every time. Good value for the money.

    Great update to the kitchen

I have to admit, when I pulled this out of the box, I was pretty skeptical. This microwave weighs much less (about half!) than the 10-year old microwave that I was replacing. Any amount of doubt was quickly laid to rest when I fired it up. It is powerful, heats evenly, and looks great too. I am a huge fan of Samsung TVs (have an LED & 3D LED . . . , so far! - that replaced my old yet still very functional Samsung tube TVs), and was wondering if they were spreading themselves a little too thin by getting into the consumer appliance market - in addition to TVs, cell phones, etc. So far, so good, and time will ultimately tell if the Samsung electronics quality carries over to the appliance market. Based on my experience over the years with Samsung, I'm pretty certain that if you ask me 10 years from now if I made the right choice by buying this microwave, my answer will still be yes.

Great Microwave with two small issues

    Posted .

This is a great product and would recommend it to anyone. It cooks quick and even, is extremely quiet, and the defrost works perfect, not cooking your food while thawing. The exahust fan is powerful but not too loud as well. I installed it myself and it was pretty easy. The only two issues we had, and some may not have them are: First, the food is done cooking beep goes off three times...I know, it sounds stupid, but it can be quite annoying if you are not right by the machine to turn it off. I didn't bother to check the manual yet to see if I can change the setting to one beep. If you can, that would be better... The second issue is with the stainless handle. It gets hot!!! I installed the unit correctly, with 3 inches extra space above our oven burners than the instructions recommended, but when I use the front right burner on the oven, the stainless handle gets very hot to the touch. It won't burn you, but even now, after it has happened a couple times, it still makes you jerk your hand away. I don't know if they didn't print the correct height from the oven (yes, I triple checked it, before we bought the unit as well. We had issues with the cabinets above the oven and I triple confirmed the proper height, of which the unit is actually 3 inches higher). I am not sure if a plastic or ceramic handle of some sort would be a better idea, or if the oven we have just happens to line up perfect with the handle...Again, I know it is nitpicking and definately not a deal breaker, but it is something I think people need to know.... Overall a great unit and I highly recommend.

    Good microwave for the price

I have had my microwave for the last month. It is not the one i wanted to get, but it was the one I could afford that has the features that I wanted. Mostly, it is 1100 watts. It is easy for my elderly mother-in-law to use, and has enough features that it is useful at every meal. It has good programed features like "melt butter/Soften butter" that work well. The inside dimensions are good. It is tall enough to hold a good sized commuter mug. While it does its job, when I am opening and closing the door or cleaning it, it does not seem like an appliance that can stand up to harder use, such as teens or others that will not be gentle with it. My husband thought the door was broken because of how much it can be "jiggled" when open, and when I close it it seems to clasp in place, but it does not seem that it is sealed, though I am sure it is. The "quiet" exhaust fan is VERY noisy, but WORKS VERY, VERY WELL, especially with the four speeds. We have it vented to the outside from the top. Changing the exhaust from rear facing to top facing was easy to do. It was easy for my husband to install, though he was replacing another similar microwave. It took him less than an hour. The templates that come with the microwave installation guide was inaccurate, but fortunately (or not) he used to be in construction and was able to make accurate measurements of his own. It is, however, pretty unattractive and does not feel like a quality product. My kitchen does not have high end or terribly expensive appliances, but they are good residential quality and an attractive room. This microwave with its sharp corners and edges, and the high gloss finish with a big silver "SAMSUNG" across the bottom stands out. There is what looks like an attempt to soften it by having a curve on the bottom of the glass, but it doesn't do it. If I were to put my house on the market I would change the microwave to a better quality one. All in all, I would recommend this if the budget for one is tight and you need to have one. It works as well as advertised, no complaints except the loud exhaust fan (that is supposed to be very quiet). It works very well, but I will not be surprised if it has to replaced in 3 or 4 years.

My previous one was also a Samsung and was happy with it. It just quit working after about 8 years. I guess that is all you can expect from it. I would have rated it five star (so far) , but the door appears to be a little cheaper than previous model. Also, previous model had instant start when you hit the shortcut keys (one minute cook, popcorn, pizza &etc.) This one requires you to hit Start, which is not an issue, but different. I prefer the older model method over this one. However, it has a great feature that you can use the timer and microwave at same time. Previous model didn't have this.

Quite when cooking. The stainless is more a thin metal almost looks coated steel, heard it will scratch easy. What will is the black paint on the bottom when trying to hang the unit and need it rest on the stove top, paint gone, and who see it ...nobody. The hinge to hook the bottom is 2 inches tall and the width of the unit, where my 1996 had an entire back metal plate for less stress on the unit's bottom. This one held up the two top screws thru the cabinet helps bow the top, creating a miss match door to control panel. Being front heavy needed one bolt for the middle to straighten out the front or take it down to adjust the bottom. It takes 2 people 45 minutes the first time to install. Real question is the unit magnetron worthy for 15 20 years?

    Nice microwave

I replaced my frigidaire microwave with this one. It was an easy install into an existing over the range location. This microwave is noisier than my old one and the start button is not in the most intuitive location but it does work well. The fan is much more powerfull and quieter than my old microwave. The popcorn setting leaves too many unpopped kernals.

Purchased Black Friday < $200. NIce and roomy and good power. Cooks fast and consistently. Seems to heat very evenly. Was very easy to install. Fits perfectly in a standard opening. There are sufficient options like reheat, popcorn and 30 second plus button. Sensor cook works well. Would buy again..

Well after purchasing this microwave I read reviews saying the microwave stopped working after a year etc. etc. It has worked fine for me as I installed it exactly as instructed. I never realized that keeping the metal rack in the microwave when not using two tiered cooking was bad for the microwave. Also, I never realized that I had to clean/replace the grease and charcoal filters regularly. Then again, I never installed a microwave before. Also, 30 seconds in this puppy is night and day to 30 seconds in my old microwave. It cooks like a champ.

    Nice over the rance microwave

I mostly use my microwave for reheating foods or making popcorn. I enjoy having it above my range and no longer having one taking up space on the counter. The popcorn setting is spot on. Although most popcorn packages recommend not using the "Popcorn" button, ("as manufactures vary") I have much better results using the popcorn button than settling the minute timer--even on the mini bags.

So far this has worked great. The variable speed fan is more than powerful enough to clean the air over the cooktop. One item that limits this from getting an excellent rating is the light. It is not very bright.

I compared this model to every other microwave in the store with similar features. I love the Samsung brand. It has a beautiful finish and a larger capacity than every one in it's price range. The price made it a no brainer!

I have no complaint about the way this microwave cooks. I love the multiple speed fan and the removable shelf, and it has an easy clean surface which makes life easier, but the light beneath the microwave is a miserable excuse even for a night light. Its impossible to see what your cooking underneath this thing, which caused us to have to buy a light and attach it to the microwave bottom. And then, every button chosen must be accompanied with pushing the start button. There is no "instant on minute". But I must add that this is the first microwave that doesn't partially cook when defrosting.

We liked this microwave. It matched our new Samsung oven and had nice features. But after 15 months, I got the "SE" (system error) on the display, and no amount of power resets #Samsung's only solution# would fix it. Google this brand microwave, and you will see many of the same experiences. The electronic keypad may last through the 12 month warranty, but shortly thereafter, there are frequent problems. For a $75-90 service call and a new $200 keypad, you've basically replaced your $300 Samsung microwave in less than 2 years. I had thought Samsung was a safe brand but am steering clear of all things Samsung in the future. Good luck.

Other reviews say the fan is loud, but really it's not that bad. This model requires a time selection, then pressing start - our old microwave would start on a single button press. The sensor cook technology is great when heating a dish to be served. Cooking some left-overs on a plate, the food is plenty hot. Microwave works great, easy to install, highly recommended.
