Great Microwave with two small issues
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great product and would recommend it to anyone. It cooks quick and even, is extremely quiet, and the defrost works perfect, not cooking your food while thawing. The exahust fan is powerful but not too loud as well. I installed it myself and it was pretty easy. The only two issues we had, and some may not have them are: First, the food is done cooking beep goes off three times...I know, it sounds stupid, but it can be quite annoying if you are not right by the machine to turn it off. I didn't bother to check the manual yet to see if I can change the setting to one beep. If you can, that would be better... The second issue is with the stainless handle. It gets hot!!! I installed the unit correctly, with 3 inches extra space above our oven burners than the instructions recommended, but when I use the front right burner on the oven, the stainless handle gets very hot to the touch. It won't burn you, but even now, after it has happened a couple times, it still makes you jerk your hand away. I don't know if they didn't print the correct height from the oven (yes, I triple checked it, before we bought the unit as well. We had issues with the cabinets above the oven and I triple confirmed the proper height, of which the unit is actually 3 inches higher). I am not sure if a plastic or ceramic handle of some sort would be a better idea, or if the oven we have just happens to line up perfect with the handle...Again, I know it is nitpicking and definately not a deal breaker, but it is something I think people need to know.... Overall a great unit and I highly recommend.

Good microwave for the price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had my microwave for the last month. It is not the one i wanted to get, but it was the one I could afford that has the features that I wanted. Mostly, it is 1100 watts. It is easy for my elderly mother-in-law to use, and has enough features that it is useful at every meal. It has good programed features like "melt butter/Soften butter" that work well. The inside dimensions are good. It is tall enough to hold a good sized commuter mug. While it does its job, when I am opening and closing the door or cleaning it, it does not seem like an appliance that can stand up to harder use, such as teens or others that will not be gentle with it. My husband thought the door was broken because of how much it can be "jiggled" when open, and when I close it it seems to clasp in place, but it does not seem that it is sealed, though I am sure it is. The "quiet" exhaust fan is VERY noisy, but WORKS VERY, VERY WELL, especially with the four speeds. We have it vented to the outside from the top. Changing the exhaust from rear facing to top facing was easy to do. It was easy for my husband to install, though he was replacing another similar microwave. It took him less than an hour. The templates that come with the microwave installation guide was inaccurate, but fortunately (or not) he used to be in construction and was able to make accurate measurements of his own. It is, however, pretty unattractive and does not feel like a quality product. My kitchen does not have high end or terribly expensive appliances, but they are good residential quality and an attractive room. This microwave with its sharp corners and edges, and the high gloss finish with a big silver "SAMSUNG" across the bottom stands out. There is what looks like an attempt to soften it by having a curve on the bottom of the glass, but it doesn't do it. If I were to put my house on the market I would change the microwave to a better quality one. All in all, I would recommend this if the budget for one is tight and you need to have one. It works as well as advertised, no complaints except the loud exhaust fan (that is supposed to be very quiet). It works very well, but I will not be surprised if it has to replaced in 3 or 4 years.

Works better than expected
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Took sometime to get here, on back order but worth the wait. It was easy to install since I had just removed my old one and this one fit right in that space. Has so many features that we probably won't use. It's great for baked potatoes, you just put the potatoe in and press the button. cooks them perfectly without trying to figure out how much time is needed. I'd buy this product again !!

Good purchase.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My previous one was also a Samsung and was happy with it. It just quit working after about 8 years. I guess that is all you can expect from it. I would have rated it five star (so far) , but the door appears to be a little cheaper than previous model. Also, previous model had instant start when you hit the shortcut keys (one minute cook, popcorn, pizza &etc.) This one requires you to hit Start, which is not an issue, but different. I prefer the older model method over this one. However, it has a great feature that you can use the timer and microwave at same time. Previous model didn't have this.

Outer Shell too thin
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The size is good and it cooks well but the outer shell is so thin it wasn't well supported when hung. It also dents and scratches very easily. In fact, it came with several dents.

She picked it out
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Quite when cooking. The stainless is more a thin metal almost looks coated steel, heard it will scratch easy. What will is the black paint on the bottom when trying to hang the unit and need it rest on the stove top, paint gone, and who see it ...nobody. The hinge to hook the bottom is 2 inches tall and the width of the unit, where my 1996 had an entire back metal plate for less stress on the unit's bottom. This one held up the two top screws thru the cabinet helps bow the top, creating a miss match door to control panel. Being front heavy needed one bolt for the middle to straighten out the front or take it down to adjust the bottom. It takes 2 people 45 minutes the first time to install. Real question is the unit magnetron worthy for 15 20 years?

Nice microwave
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I replaced my frigidaire microwave with this one. It was an easy install into an existing over the range location. This microwave is noisier than my old one and the start button is not in the most intuitive location but it does work well. The fan is much more powerfull and quieter than my old microwave. The popcorn setting leaves too many unpopped kernals.

Great oven at a great price.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased Black Friday < $200. NIce and roomy and good power. Cooks fast and consistently. Seems to heat very evenly. Was very easy to install. Fits perfectly in a standard opening. There are sufficient options like reheat, popcorn and 30 second plus button. Sensor cook works well. Would buy again..

slick looking microwave,
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Easy to use, nice size, easy install. Has a easy to use panel. Can put large plates in and they will turn. No rack. Vents up not out so vents are not seen which makes a smooth look over our black stove.

Cooks fast
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Replaced my old 1.7 cu.ft. 1000 watt microwave with this bigger 1.8 cu. ft. 1100 watt system which is more powerful thus reducing my cooking time. It works great, but the only negative point is the lighting underneath which should supply enough light to see how everything is cooking on my stove. My old microwave had two lights with two levels and it lit up the area underneath very well.

Too many deficiencies
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First impressions are critical, right? In this case, it begins with the installation. Samsung provides two separate paper templates: one for the back wall mounting bracket, and one for the upper-cabinet bolt holes. The back-wall template is just fine -- it's full-scale, and won't let you make a mistake (as long as you mount the paper right!). The upper-cabinet template, however, can quickly lead you into a disaster; inexplicably, it is NOT full-scale, and if you follow this particular guide (rather than lay things out with a measuring tape from the dimensions), YOUR INSTALL WILL FAIL. If you get past the installation problem, your next thing is likely to look for some help in how to USE your new appliance. A nice User Manual would be handy, right? Forget about it; Samsung doesn't supply one. They went chintzy, and decided to "go green" (quoting one of their customer service reps there) and not include this essential documentation! They actually refer you to their parts supplier, who would be happy to charge you $14 (plus shipping) to send you a paper copy. Or, you can go to the Samsung web site, stumble through their pages to find the microwave you've just spent $300 or so on, and download and print a PDF, using your own PC. Nice. I especially love how on the front page of the User Manual it says "Planet First; (printed on) 100% recycled paper". They obviously intended to provide a User Manual with this appliance, before some Marketing wiz got a bright idea. Next, trying to figure out their keypad. The labeling is lousy. Why not show us a graphic of a fan and a light? My wife and I have probably turned the darn fan on fifty times, when we really wanted to just turn on the darn light! And, on the subject of the light: Samsung designed this microwave with a small, feeble incandescent lamp. And, it's also off-center. So, a small part of your range or cooktop will be poorly lit -- and the other part will be dark. Speaking of lights, the display on this Samsung microwave is ridiculously small and dim! We've all seen calculators with larger and brighter displays than what this thing has! You might as well use the EcoMode feature, and just turn off the display. If you depended on your microwave clock to tell you the time in your kitchen, look for a new wall clock. Get one of the cat ones whose eyes and tail swing back & forth... It will take your mind off this poorly-designed microwave. Unfortunately, several of the failures I've just described might be discoverable in an appliance showroom (I'm talkin' to YOU, Best Buy!), but all of the microwaves are usually unplugged, and unusable. I can understand this from the retailer's perspective, but they have to be able to let customers kick the tires on some of these things... We selected this appliance because we were pleased with the Samsung refrigerator we recently purchased. Do NOT buy this Samsung microwave.

Even better than Expected
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.GE Space maker microwave blew something electronic inside, trying to change a light bulb... So after 2 weeks of looking around and comparing old model with current selection on the market, we decided to buy this BEAUTIFUL Samsung as a replacement. What can I say, it's a microwave. It works great, cooks food evenly (not that I had a problem before) and fits aesthetically in the kitchen. Many features still popping up that we didn't know about or even list as must haves. The key pad is very nice and we will see with time how the labels hold up to daily use. LCD Display is Blue in color a first for me and a bit surprising as I assumed it'd be green. GREAT ventilation, quiet operation, great lighting for over range cooking. Installation was a breeze, using supplied template I drilled two new holes in the cabinet and mounted the new microwave. If this was a NEW install it would have been more difficult but still a pretty straight forward install, measure twice, drill once. Thanks,

Nice appliance, some shortcomings
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Overall, this is a nice microwave. One important feature for us is to have a +30 second button. However, it is most disappointing that you can't just hit the +30 and it starts. Instead, you have to then press Start. Also, the timer beep, when the timer reaches 0, is so quiet that it is almost inaudible. It would be nice if the volume was at least configurable. Likewise for the Done beep. We are used to a microwave that will remind us every 30 seconds that it is done. This one beeps once, nearly inaudibly, and that is it. What's up with that? Finally, the buttons are difficult to press. The control surface is flat, and I don't know what the sensors are, but if you aren't perfectly in the center of each control, it doesn't sense that you are pushing that number or command.

Satisfied
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Well after purchasing this microwave I read reviews saying the microwave stopped working after a year etc. etc. It has worked fine for me as I installed it exactly as instructed. I never realized that keeping the metal rack in the microwave when not using two tiered cooking was bad for the microwave. Also, I never realized that I had to clean/replace the grease and charcoal filters regularly. Then again, I never installed a microwave before. Also, 30 seconds in this puppy is night and day to 30 seconds in my old microwave. It cooks like a champ.

Problems with Damaged Microwaves
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this microwave to replace a 17 year-old GE. The installation instructions were good. When I unwrapped the microwave to bolt it in place there was a big dent in the side (there was damage to the box). I took it back and Best Buy ordered another. There were 2 more microwaves besides mine behind the counter with damage showing on the boxes. A salesperson said they had trouble with them being damaged in the warehouse. The 2nd microwave arrived. When I tried to bolt it to the cabinets I found that one of the 2 threaded inserts on top of the microwave was missing. I could hear it rattling inside. I took the 2nd microwave back and a 3rd was ordered. The 3rd was fine. After 2 months I have no complaints about the microwave itself. The buttons require a firm push, but if they last that just takes some getting used to. Best Buy offered no compensation for my wasted time.

Nice over the rance microwave
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I mostly use my microwave for reheating foods or making popcorn. I enjoy having it above my range and no longer having one taking up space on the counter. The popcorn setting is spot on. Although most popcorn packages recommend not using the "Popcorn" button, ("as manufactures vary") I have much better results using the popcorn button than settling the minute timer--even on the mini bags.

Very Nice
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So far this has worked great. The variable speed fan is more than powerful enough to clean the air over the cooktop. One item that limits this from getting an excellent rating is the light. It is not very bright.
