Purchased this microwave for my kitchen remodel to match the Samsung fridge I purchased. Looks very very good, it works great. So far so good. I would recommend this product to anyone. Thanks . the only issue if any is that the it fingerprints quickly but that my be my fualt as my hand are dirty when I open the microwave door. anyway, it also easy to clean so therefore no issues.

I like the oven, and it cooks fine, however, I don't think it was installed properly. I paid extra to have your technician install it properly. Re Vent system over range: We have an exhaust duct system above range, through our kitchen cabinets, and out to roof. This unit does not exhaust. What can I do about this? I did not receive any credit for old oven. I saw something on this sight about that when I opened this link. If it has trade-in/recycle value, I did not get anything for it. Old one worked fine. It was just a clip inside front door that broke, causing front panel to lift on one corner when opening it. We were told it could not be repaired.

I didn't install or use this microwave as my wife decided she wanted a feature set from a different brand and model, so it was returned. Four star rating was for appearance.

    Decent Unit

The panel is a bit confusing and not the best layout. The 400cfm motor on the 1.8 barely draws any steam off the stove below. Steam will run up over the front of the unit and to the ceiling even with vent fans on full power. I returned the 1.7 sized unit based on this problem. It had a 300cfm motor. The 1.8 with the 400cfm is a bit better but still not very powerful at all. Best Buy's customer service both on the phone and at the store in Bellingham MA was OUTSTANDING. I would never buy any appliance / TV / electronics anywhere else. They couldn't have treated me better. I am still not thrilled with this unit but I am keeping it because it matches all my other Samsung appliances. Best Buy took back my other unit even after the 30 day trial period had expired and gave me the 1.8 unit at the same cost as the 1.7. They also allowed me to keep the brackets I had already intalled on my wall and return my 1.7 unit without them. They were a pleassure to deal with.

This is a good product, however, it is not as "user friendly" as my previous microwave. After a few weeks, I still have to "think about" how to program for some features. The fan is strong / satisfactory, but seems to be quite loud on high. Considering the price vs features, yes I would purchase it again.

    Quiet, inexpensive, functional, & attractive.

This unit is quiet, inexpensive, functional, and it looks good. Additionally, it's not too hard to install for anyone with a moderate level of handyman experience. One problem we saw on the machine when we opened the box was a dent on one of the back corners. This corner was not a show surface at all, but even so I almost made the decision to have it returned. I finally decided to plug it in and make sure it worked before putting all the effort into the installation and THEN maybe finding a functional problem. Once installed, it still worked fine and you could see the dent at all. It's too bad they don't pack the machines a little better, but I suppose it's a tall order for such a heavy (fragile) object to remain undamaged through UPS shipping from California to Michigan. Overall, we're quite happy with the purchase.

Installation would have been much easier, had I not had to adapt to an existing range hood installation. Exhaust outlet was in a slightly different place, but nothing that good old duct tape couldn't handle. The oven, itself performs very well. defrost works much better than our old microwave. Overall, I would recommend this oven!

    Good microwave

This microwave was a great value. We've had no problems with it. It seems to heat evenly. We've had it now for a few months. We use it between 3-8 times per week. It would be nice if the light was a little brighter, but overall it's not bad.

    Disappointing.

It cooks food just like any other $200 microwave. However, it has problems and is probably a short-timer. 1. Even fresh out-of-the-box, the door sags due to sloppy hinges and does not line up with top of microwave. 2. Very very very loud when in use. I've never had a microwave as loud as this. It's not turntable noise, or exhaust-fan noise, but there must be some other internal fan that is alwyas on whenever it'sin use. The thing is somehow very loud. As loud as popping popcorn. It's loud. 3. The light is a joke. When on high, still not as bright as a night light. As an over-the-range microwave, it would be nice to have light to see what's on the range. This light is too dim to see anything on stove surface. 4. The fan is a joke. Functions solely as a noisemaker, ineffective at actually sucking steam from range-top towards the fan inlet. 5. The buttons are on flexible pad and takes some pressure to depress. Look at the keypad from an angle, and it looks all ripply. This was bought as part of a total Samsung kitchen makeover. ALL the other Samsung's use touch-sensitive glass-surface controls (kinda like an iPhone), but their microwave does not.

Do your homework and be warned

So this microwave started having trouble only 10 months after we purchased it. Samsung came to repair it which was a horrible experience on its own, their customer service is horrible, and the first time they came they replaced the wrong part all together because of a miscommunication. Anyways, the microwave just completely died and stopped working after only 13 months. The more I researched a potential solution, the more I discovered how common a problem this was with these microwaves and that they were dying in 2 years or less! Wish I had done more research prior to buying it! Save your money and don't buy this one - do some research and see for yourself!

Works, looks good, has a fatal flaw

Bought this new and had it installed professionally. Everything went great until, about 18 months into its life, the microwave started emitting random beeps from time to time. There was no error message at first and everything else was functioning properly, so I simply muted the sound. After a while, I un-muted it and there would be no beeping for months, but it would return with greater frequency. Eventually, the -SE- code started showing up. After powering it down, I got the code to clear, but the microwave now stops for no apparent reason in the middle of cooking. This appears to be a known design issue with Samsung, whereby the control panel shorts out due to steam (as there naturally would be, in an over-the-range microwave).

Great vent fan but laughable light

We have had this microwave for a few weeks now. It is a generally good microwave with a few notable points. The keypad configuration is not terribly intuitive but you get used to it within a week. The vent fan is amazing. It really pulls a significant amount of heat/smoke/smell from the cook top. The light however is very strange. It is so dim that you may find yourself needing to use a flashlight when cooking. I have researched a light bulb upgrade but none is available. If I had noticed this ahead of time I would have chosen a different model. There really is no way around a stove top light that is way too dim.

No problems with this unit. Very easy to use. Large space inside. Like the various easy to use functions for reheating specific items. Exterior looks very nice, matches the Samsung Gas Range perfectly.

Great Microwave but only lasts a year

Really like the Microwave but it stopped working with a fault code 366 days after purchase and 1 day out of warranty. Samsung agreed to repair it under warranty and the engineer who came to the house said it had a loose wire behind the touch panel. Another year later and we get a new code for a keypad fault. I took it apart and checked the wires. This helped it work for another 24 hours but then stopped working. Having checked the price of parts online we decided it would simply be better to buy a new Microwave with an extended warranty. (We checked many forums and it seems Samsung has a lot of problems of this nature). My advice would be to go with a model from any other manufacturer. We just bought a new LG and hoping it lasts better.

We purchased this microwave a year ago and love it's performance. It is a great value except for the very low under light . I can't believe it . They only have one light bulb installed even thought the picture shows two . Does any one else has two light bulbs installed ? I am missing a bulb? Or can I install a se and one ?
