She doesn't hear as well as she used to. So this made her very happy. She can hear the TV clearly and enjoy her favorite shows.

The sound bar is constantly dropped from the tv and there is also a disconnect when it competes with the tv speaker. The sound coming out sounds mechanical and there is no way to fix it other than turning the device off and going into the tv settings and switching back to the tv speaker. I've also been unable to synch the cable tv remote to the sound bar so I'm forced to keep the cable remote and sound bar remote next to me.

I am very sorry that you are experiencing connection issues with your Samsung HW-S40T Soundbar. Please make sure you are running the latest firmware update which includes improved connectivity. You can update your firmware to ver. 1003 by using a USB device.
To optimize your audio experience, please try the various sound modes this model offers. Press the SOUND MODE button on your remote, and then select your desired sound effect: STANDARD, MUSIC, or SMART SOUND.
You can further adjust TREBLE and BASS via the SOUND CONTROL button (looks like a gear symbol).
Please know that you are able to control the volume of the soundbar with a TV remote. This function can be used with IR remote controls only. Bluetooth remotes are not supported. Set the TV speaker to External Speaker to use this function. Support of this feature will depend on the make and model of your TV.

Samsung ST40 Much Better Than This

It’s what I did after returning this one. The sound was pretty good but considering the price, not worth it. The Samsung S40T was cheaper by $50 and sound amazing compared to this one.
