This was the only reasonably priced soundbar that was compatible with Fios. It's hooked up to a Samsung TV and although it works, periodically it switches into different sound modes creating an echo effect.

Every 30 to 60 mins when it's turned off. Samsung Techs say apparently it needs a firmware update. There's also the possibility that if you unplug the optical cable and re-plug it into the TV first and then the sound bar, it might make the sound bar be quiet. This sound bar is in our Master Bedroom suite. It get's one more night trying these fixes before it goes back to Best Buy. When it's projecting the sound from a TV show or movie - it does produce an excellent sound.

Thank you for purchasing the HW-S40T Soundbar and for your review. A new firmware update has been released which will allow you to disable the voice guide feature. Ver. 1103 is available on Samsung.com
After your firmware update: With the Soundbar turned off, press and hold the source key on the Soundbar remote control for 5 seconds. The Soundbar will then turn of automatically. To re-enable the voice guide, repeat the above process.

Thank you for purchasing the HW-S40T Soundbar and for your review. I am sorry you are experiencing volume fluctuations while using your soundbar. It could possibly be a source issue. You may want to try Smart Sound. The soundbar analyzes the content in real time and automatically provides the optimal sound field based on the characteristics of the content.
Press the Sound Mode button on your remote control to select Smart Sound. Each time you press this button, the mode changes between Standard, Smart, and Music.
