This solved those issues, plus has a very nice sub woofer with great low end. Simple installation, as this hooked up to the optical output on the TV and switches on and off with the factory TV remote. Also nice and slim and not in the way.

Not much improvement in loudness and there was a distinctive volume or mute of audio about every 17-20 seconds. Returned the item. Havent purchased anything else yet. I was attaching to a 59" Samsung smart tv via the optical cable.

Thank you for purchasing this Samsung HW-M450 Soundbar System.
I am sorry to hear that you were not completely satisfied with its low volume.
Please check the connection between the Soundbar and other source devices, and try the following tips that may help improve the volume level.
1. If the Soundbar is connected to a TV thru HDMI, make sure to use the HDMI-ARC jack on the TV and select “External speakers” as the TV sound output.
2. Check the audio output format sent to the Soundbar. Typical options are PCM, Dolby Digital, and Bitstream. Select the option that optimizes the sound from your source.
3. Change the SOUND MODE on the Soundbar using the Soundbar’s remote. Choices are STANDARD, MUSIC, CLEAR VOICE, SPORTS, or MOVIE. Select the appropriate mode for the individual room acoustics.
4. Turn on Dynamic Range Control. This is done by pressing and holding the SOUND MODE button on the remote control while the Soundbar is in standby mode.

My only problem is that win I gave this to a friend to use. It wasn't very easy for them to set up on their own Samsung tv, I guess it might have been due to them not having a smart tv as I do.

They are located in our "open-concept living room/dining room/kitchen", so having the sound bar really helps with sound clarity. I am not sure we'd need it if the TV were located in a small room.

I don't get the same surround effect but I'm watching sports not movies so surround isn't that important.

Once I understood it, very simple to use, simple up/down volume toggle, push the same toggle down for muting commercials. I was as able to turn off the tv volume and just use this remote, works great and a great range for volume level.

I purchased the sound bar for sounds to directed to the seated areas. Using the surround sound feature makes tv a pleasure to watch. I would recommend this system to anyone with hearing disabilities.

Works perfect and put out good sound for my 16x12 room. It’s not earth shattering, but does the job for causal gaming. I tried it with a few movies and it performs well there too. Good value if you can find it on sale.

Only negative it takes some tine to hook up woofer speaker to Bluetooth. I only use this system for music not fro tv surround sound.

We were able to sync the TV sound to the sound bar (my nephew did that) on our Samsung TV so there was no echo. But it's sleek and love that there's volume controls on the side of the sound bar. Bass sounds great too!!

The Bluetooth has to be found from your phone each time which can get annoying. And the volume goes to "100" which means to raise the volume any significant amount you have to click the button thirty times or hold it. Other than that it's awesome.
