I chose this sound bar because it is a Samsung and fits the TV. It only marginally makes the sound of the TV louder. But, I can no longer mute or lower the volume on the TV so It cannot be heard (in order to take a phone call, for ex.).

The top-mount soundbar has a very low profile, so it was not necessary to use a TV stand to elevate the TV above the sound bar. Coupled with the included subwoofer, the sound is very good for a more casual TV-watching (i.e. not true home theater) evironment.
