Died after 14 months
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I originally purchased a prior similar Samsung model in March of 2011. The sealed system of that unit leaked after less than 3 years and Samsung refunded the purchase price. Figuring that it was a fluke, I replaced it with this model, and the sealed system developed at least two leaks after about 14 months and again Samsung refunded the purchase price. I suppose this is just really bad luck (what are the odds of a lemon: maybe 1%?), but - under severe penalty from my spouse - I cannot buy another Samsung refrigerator. If something like this happens, it takes at least several weeks to resolve. Imagine the inconvenience and spoiled food, etc. We bought a "second" smaller refrigerator to place in the garage to help bridge the gap. Other than that, I liked it. Based on this experience, any model I do buy must have a warranty (Parts AND Labor) on the sealed system of at least 5 years. SAVE YOUR RECEIPTS just in case. You may not get the full amount refunded unless you have the receipt (as I learned on the first one).

Was ok Fridge while it worked
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I liked the idea of the counter depth fridge and I really like the looks but the performance and features were underwhelming. The capacity is limited in comparison to full size fridges, which I knew going in, but I didn't realize what a pain that was until I started using it. For instance, the drawers were so shallow that I usually had to take them out just to put in a head of lettuce. I also ran into issues with various large delivery pizza boxes and the door not closing. The smarts built in to the fridge are based off an older, android only app and not part of the smart things platform which made it pretty useless for me. What ultimately soured me on the fridge was the fact that the compressor went out 2 days after the warranty expired. Luckily I had a GSP plan but it took almost a month for the parts to come in and then the compressor died again about 10 months later.

Good Deal and Fair Price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have only had my frig for a week and I am very happy with it but I have to agree with other reviews that it is a bit noisy when the ice maker is is doing it's thing and the pull out drawers only do come out about 5 inches, but can be pulled out all the way for cleaning. It has very clean lines and holds a lot of food. And it really bright when you open the doors to see what's inside. It's spacious and the doors are deep to hold gallon containers of milk or other big bottles. The ice maker makes nice size ice cubes and crushed ice too. I hope I have this refrigerator for many years!

Great product
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this refrigerator because my counter top is shallow (only 24'' deep). It's quiet and the LED looks great at night. Shipping was fast and the guys did the hook up and cleaned up all the package refuses. It looks so modern and sleek in my kitchen.

Good size but noises from ice maker
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Had to replace our frig and seen the Samsung model that would fit in the same of our kitchen. Like the frig but the ice maker is very disappointing, it makes a high pitched screech sound and had the whole frig replaced. Second one makes the same noise! Had service on first unit before replacement and a geek squad person came out ( don't think they knew anything about the frig) all they did was turned down the water line to the unit at the wall and said my water pressure was too high. Reading the manual water pressure needs to be 20 to 140 psi, I doubt mine is any higher! Paying over $2000 for this is not acceptable so not sure what my options are now beside just turning ice maker off.

Buyer beware : Samsungs are lemons
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this model two years ago. The food in my freezer is now thawed out as I write this. It stopped cooling (both compartments) sometime in the last 24 hours. I called Samsung service. They said it MIGHT still be under warranty depending on the problem. They set up a service call. I called the 'Samsung approved' repair shop ... they said it would be five days before they could come out. I didn't want to wait so I called another repair shop, expecting Samsung not to honor any warranty anyway. The repair shop scheduled me for the next day, but then said they would not be able to come out when I told her it was a Samsung. She referred me to another repair company, informing me that 'MOST REPAIR SHOPS WON'T WORK ON SAMSUNG'S ANYMORE, BECAUSE THEY HAVE SO MANY PROBLEMS.' I had a similar very negative experience with a Samsung Windows tablet. At the time, i figured it was just a quirk. Now with the refrigerator, and the repair shop's comments, I'll never purchase ANY Samsung product again.

excellent refrigerator
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Let me start by saying this is NOT a new model. This refrigerator has been around several years, and Best Buy previously had it on clearance. It doesn't make sense that it is now listed as new and at full price. Having said that, we purchased this model because we needed a counter depth with a proven track record. Most of the other stores/competitors/sites had several hundred reviews and it was consistently a 4.5 or better. We had initially wanted a French door style, but when this went on clearance in stainless steel, the price couldn't be beat. We went from a full size to counter depth. There is lots of shelving space and space on the doors in the refrigerator. Yes, you can fit a turkey, 13x9 pan, gallon jugs, etc. The three bin drawers are deep and fit warehouse brand extra large bags of fruit, lettuce, etc. The lighting is bright and consistent, even if a jug or something is in front of it. We haven't had any trouble with the ice maker or water, but have purchased the extended warranty. Plenty of ice for our family but we would buy a bag for a party. We were more concerned with having enough refrigerator space over freezer space because we have a small chest style freezer. However, there really is a decent amount of freezer space. Not sure a large pizza box could fit, though. Both sides do well with cooling and even temperatures. Most importantly, because we have an open floor plan, this model is NOT noisy. You can hear ice drop like with any model but it is very quiet when it runs. All of the parts (shelves, dispenser) seem very well made and sturdy. I would strongly recommend this model but NOT at full price.

Average Refrigerator
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is an average Refrigerator at best at an expensive price due to the counter-depth size. Pros are the look of the stainless steel design, it matches my other Samsung appliances, and the inside design works well with adjustable shelves. Cons: There is only 1 con and it a big one. This model is noisier than most appliances. It creates a small scooter noise out of the blue. This is the second one Best Buy brought me because the first one was even noisier. Best Buy attempted to have someone replace 2 other times and both times they were a no-show. The 3rd appointment was made and replaced but it's amazing how much times was spent on correcting this. This was only 1 of 2 options I had under $2k that would fit well in my kitchen. If you go with this definitely get the warranty.

Great Until It Stopped Working
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The only buggy thing was the water dispenser. After about a year of use, it would continue dispensing water even after you stopped pressing on the button. You had to press it again to get it to stop. The grey pad for pressing looked like it would wear through in about five years. Turns out I was wrong. After two years, the grey pad was still intact, but last night, water started dribbling out around the pad. We emptied all of the water from the dispenser and the ice compartment. And we turned off the water supplying the fridge and disconnected the hose. This seemed to stop the dribbling. A few hours later, the refrigerator stopped working. BTW, this is not a freezer that holds the cold until it is opened. It starts to warm up as soon as the fridge/freezer stops cooling. You might want to know this if yours stops cooling. Immediately put all food into a cooler or it will be spoiled in a few hours (yes, even lettuce). The warranty for most of the fridge expires after a year. It says five years for the "sealed" unit. To get someone from Samsung to look at the fridge, you have to submit a ticket to Samsung. It takes TWO BUSINESS DAYS before you will hear from someone to SCHEDULE a service appointment.

Fridge quit after 7 months - Cust Service is worse
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had this fridge for much less than a year. The entire fridge/freezer quit on me. It took me over 2 weeks and a complaint into BBB to finally get the fridge approved for replacement. Turns out it can't be repaired (crack and freon leak) I had to call Samsung daily to get answers. I was also promised a Samsung gift card due to all the trouble but haven't seen it. I'm lucky to have gotten the replacement done. I love Samsung Products ..... but the Customer Service is beyond easy to work with. I had Best Buy follow up more than Samsung.

Poor reliability
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought a Samsung side by side counter depth refrigerator in March 2012. Worked fine until June 2019 when it stopped cooling. All local appliance repair companies said they were not able to work on Samsung. Had to call the only repair outfit approved by Samsung. They charged $100 for technician to tell me the sealed system failed and they would not fix it at any price. Warranty on parts was 5 years. Bottom line is that this refrigerator only lasted 7 years. Bought a Whirlpool replacement which our local appliance repair outfits say they can work on and is reported to be reliable. Lessons learned - 1) Don't buy a Samsung refrigerator, 2) only buy an appliance after making sure your local repair companies can work on it.

What's that whistle noise?
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Kind of shocked. From the first day I heard this very loud whistle noise. I thought it was just air pushing out of the water dispenser so I emptied a few pitchers of water to get the air out. Day 2. Woah... That whistle noise. It's so loud. It sounds just awful. Have to return.

How to turn the Samsung RS22HDHP back on.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Some how I accidentally turned off the refrigerator and freezer. Either I or someone may have leaned against the freezer door buttons in a wrong, but secret, way. The light was on, so I knew it was getting power, but the compressor would not turn on. I fiddled with the freezer and refrigerator temperature settings, unplugged and plugged it back in. Finally, I called a repair man. By checking on some technician information website that I cannot find, he fixed the problem by SIMULTANEOUSLY PRESSING THE POWER FREEZE AND FREEZER BUTTONS FOR 3 SECONDS. This simple problem and fix is not in the user manual.

Great Fridge, but...
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I spent a long time looking for the right refrigerator and I finally decided on this one. It is a great fridge with excellent use of space. The only drawback is that the drawers. They fit a lot of stuff, but they only open about 4-6 inches. It is VERY difficult to get more than one small piece of fruit or vegetable out at time. The Bosh fridge is the only one I found that has full pull out drawers.

Expensive Repairs
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My unit is two years old. Just after end of 1 yr warranty, the ice maker stopped working. That was around $300. Just came home from a week trip and found that refrig and freezer died - what a mess and threw out hundreds of $ of food. This repair was an electronic board and $266. Repairman said these newer refrigerators have technology elements that can/will fail. Having said all this, this unit works fine and does the job. Perfect size. I had a GE refrigerator that lasted "forever." But, given the technology and what I've heard, I'm not sure any of them have long term reliability. Buy an extended warranty - I didn't.

Worst Customer Service Ever!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Refrigerator looks nice on outside but doesn't have a cold storage drawer, ice cream never freezes solid (if temp decreased, frost forms in freezer) and Samsung customer service is terrible! Fridge died May 21, 2016, 10 months after purchasing. Refrigerant leaked out and could not be repaired. After numerous phone calls, I was told not to discard my fridge and I would receive an email with refund instructions within 24-48 hours. Didn't hear anything so I called, it is actually 5 more days. Still no action so called again today. It will be another 5-7 days this time. This has been the pattern--tell me one thing--no action so I call and it is another story. It is June 17 and I still don't have a refrigerator or a refund and I've been told it will be another 5-7 days! Been eating out, doing carry out and using a cooler. We also lost about $400 in food when the fridge died. Absolutely outrageous and totally unacceptable to be treated this way!

Horrible. So many problems.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Had this fridge for 5 years and it’s been a total headache. Worked fine for four years and so far, I’ve had to replace the ice maker, remove the inside of the fridge and melt a TON of ice and frost (twice) that froze all the important components so the entire fridge and freezer began to malfunction. Samsung support is essentially nonexistent and the warranty covers nothing useful. Won’t ever purchase or recommend a Samsung fridge to anyone.

It broke and the warranty process is HORRIBLE
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had this fridge for 13 months... So - the fridge itself is fine - It's counter depth and looks sleek - the only drawback is the ice dispenser is kinda slow - the "crushed ice" option is a joke - it doesn't crush ice and no matter what setting you are on - it spits out ice at either one cube SLOWLY and then 8 cubes all at once. BUT my major complaint is with Samsung and with the GeekSquad extended warranty. As of 4 days ago - the compressor went out - which means that both the fridge and freezer stopped working. I called the geek squad on Friday morning and the best they could do to have it looked at was the following Tuesday. Not cool. I was able to call the authorized repair person directly and they were able to make it out the next day early morning and let me know it's the worst case scenario - the compressor is shot - without the warranty it would cost $1300 to fix! (and apparently this is a common problem) I might as well buy a new fridge! So now - they are waiting on Samsung to authorize them to even order the part which takes a couple of days for authorization and then it takes another 2-3 days for them to receive the part - needless to say I will never buy another Samsung product as long as this is their repair process. And I'll never bother waisting my money on GeekSquad extended protection - they are so unhelpful - other than them scheduling the appointment they were useless. Buyer beware and cross your fingers it works longer than a year if you get this one - but i would urge you to consider other brands and then google a certified repair tech and get their opinion before you buy.
