    Do your Research! The ice maker is the biggest problem, but not the only. Fan noises from Ice buildup are routine around the 14th month of ownership (happened to me at that time), and now fridge temp sensor has malfunctioned causing fridge to run constantly and freeze everything in fridge. Its barely 15 months old and I've had to repair twice. My previous whirlpool went 15 years without issue. Bad design and unwillingness for Samsung to recall/address problem is disappoimting. If you do buy, GET THE EXTRA WARRANTY... You WILL need it!!

    I was excited to get a new refrigerator unfortunately I should have done more research. The fridge makes weird noises but the worst is the ice maker. It takes forever to dispense ice. I like cubed ice but I always get a combination of crushed and cubed. I have to chip away chunks of ice about every 6 weeks. The first time it was so bad that I had to use a hair dryer to get the chunks to break off. It is a terrible refrigerator.

    Can't even clean the coils yourself

    I have owned this fridge for ~1 year, and just went to clean the coils. I found that they've used a coil assembly that's so tightly packed together you can't clean it with a standard coil brush. I called into Samsung, and they actively refused to tell me how to clean the coils. What gives? Cleaning the compressor coils is one of the most basic and important parts of maintaining the fridge. This is awful at a very basic level. Stay clear of this model.

    As many other people have mentioned, this refrigerator is absolute garbage. There is a known issue with the refrigerator accumulating ice and, as a result, the cooling fan starts to build up with ice as well. It sounds like a jet engine in my kitchen for several hours and then eventually freezes completely over and then the refrigerator overheats. Samsung refuses to provide assistance as it seems to start just after the 1 year warranty expires. Even with service at a minimum of $400, the fix is only temporary.

    Purchased the refrigerator in 2016 and we have had constant issues. Thankfully we purchased the extended warranty. The latest issue was the ice maker freezing over. The entire ice maker was replaced about a year ago and this morning it started again. So I called Best Best Geek Squad and my extended warranty expired last month on the 27th. Checking online I see a few people with the same issue. I am sticking with Whirlpool or Maytag from now on.

    The ice maker has been a issue from the beginning..not a family size!, leaks constantly..was replaced and they have had a big problem with them according to service guy..now the whole unit stopped cooling..food spoiling and the smell..was told 2 days..now it’s 4-5 days..bad protection coverage is not Geek squad is AIG..it is subbed out no control over schedule..do not recommend this refrigerator or the protection plan!

    We have had this unit for 3.5 years. Loved the design. As reported by many others, this appliance failed in two ways at about the three year mark. (1) The ice maker became unusable and (2) frost develops on the coil which eventually prevents the fans from circulating air - thus not able to maintain proper cooling temperatures. Samsung support rep told me there were no reported issues for my unit - but I had the service bulletin in hand indicating that there were issues. Local service technicians chuckle when I call about a fix for the ice machine - these problems are legendary and no solution is available. Fixes prescribed by Samsung for the coil freeze have been completed with no improvement. Please check carefully online for Samsung models that use this ice maker and cooling design and consider whether it fits your criteria for quality and reliability.

    never made ice, called samsung and they said there was nothing they could do. the fridge is ok, but I will not buy samsung appliances any more. samsung is good in cellphones, not appliances im returning this and getting a new one, thanks to Geek squat

    Don’t waste your money on this Fridge!!! Bought 2 years ago AND bought Geek Squad protection. Ice maker and fan have stopped working for the 3rd time. Best Buy will only replace the broken parts; not the actual fridge. This is a known issue with the Samsung Fridge. Don’t waste your money!!!

    Samsung Fridge with ice maker is nothing but junk;broke within 6 mnths of purchase; took rep 2 trips to repair/replace entire ice maker unit; now 2 yrs later ice maker dead again; out of warranty-not spending the $$ to fix;class action suit has been opened east/west coast

    Big piece of junk. The refer is 1.5 years old, out of warranty, and broken in multiple places. Poorly designed. Hard to get drawers out to clean because the doors don't fully open to clear. Multi-piece drawers that collect anything spilled and become impossible to clean. We are really sorry we bought this and will not buy another Samsung refrigerator ever. Also most appliance repair people won't even look at them. No one in Tacoma will touch them. I've called the factory recommended service center in Seattle, but it's been several hours and they haven't returned our call yet.

    Problem not with product as far as I know. Purchased with delivery and installation. Well, sounds easy..4 scheduled appointments and no show, no installation and multiple days waiting only to hear 1 excuse after another. I don't think it is possible to have worse service! To make matters worse they make it sound like we are being difficult. What the ? I will never buy another appliance at bestbuy...worst deal ever!!!!!!

    I have never, ever encountered such POOR service than Pacific Sales (Best Buy Appliance services)----bought whole kitchen suite from them (Samsung), banged-up mini frig showed up 1 week before scheduled delivery, had to call multiple times to get it corrected. Then 1 week later the other appliances showed up DAMAGED, so we are without frig, washer/dryer, and time/money! This is ridiculous---Best Buy needs to stick to TVs!!!!!

    Works great for the first year. The icemaker then starts leaking. Repairs will keep it working for a month at best. Door is now damaged from constant water leakage.
