    Nice refrigerator, horrible ice maker

    After having the refrigerator for 6 months, we have had Samsung service out twice for repairs to the ice maker... and it's still broken. Ice maker has frozen up multiple times, twice beyond my ability to chip ice out of the mechanism. Now the ice maker only dispenses crushed ice no matter which button is pushed (and yes we have emptied the ice bucket to test this fully). We had our last refrigerator for almost 10 years, then we switched to this one for better energy efficiency and an updated look. We had service out 1 time in 10 years for the previous model. Twice in 6 months is really suspect of some major quality issues.

    Problems from the beginning

    Purchased the refrigerator in October 2018. Have already had the ice maker replaced once and now it is jammed with ice again. In addition to all of the "normal" sounds, it is now making a huge, loud clunking noise when the compressor shuts off. I am having it picked up. Would definitely not buy again.

    Freezer , ice jams up

    Purchased 2 yrs ago. For the third time now i have to get the freezer fixed. Saw previous reviews about ice problem, i chanced it anyway. My bad, should never have purchased this frig. Three times the freezer, ice maker has jammed. The tech asked me if I unplugged the frig and try to defrost it, i said i am not willing to do that. . Just a little thing, its not a magnitic front. The front takes abit of cleaning to stay nice.

    Nightmare. Ice maker freezes up, we get it fixed and it breaks again. Doesn't make much ice when it does work. Now on 3rd Geek Squad repair in 1st 14 months.

    Don’t be fooled by the brand name. Icemaker clogs regularly and needs to be thawed at least monthly. Water pitcher is not dishwasher safe and will shrink. Water filter is challenging at best to change. Feels like something is going to snap. This model does keep food cold — so I guess there’s one good thing about it,

    Junk. Rust. Broke.

    Garage.. started to rust on the door panels within 6 months, ice machine would drawer freezes and is basically impossible to remove.. freezer broke after 3-4 years. Junk junk junk.

    water leaking into freezer

    I love the style and functionality of this fridge, but have had persistent issues with water leaking into the freezer from somewhere. It only happens on the left hand side, but leads to massive ice build up. I've cleaned it all out and tried turning the autofill water dispenser off, but to no avail. There's no water in the drawer above the freezer, so it's really not clear to me where this is coming from. I am trying to work with samsung to get this addressed and am hopeful I just have a defective model. I feel like I can't recommend this item at all though based on my experience thus far.

    Worst Ice Maker and horrible Protection Plan

    This is only the 2nd time to ever write a product review anywhere. This fridge has the most unreliable ice maker, none of them have lasted a year and Geek Squad protection plan is now a joke (non-responsive). We've replaced our ice maker 3 times now and it broke again earlier this month. An authorized Samsung tech came last week to fix it, but he didn't. That night, the unit made ice, but I couldn't get the ice machine to spit out any ice. When I opened the dispenser, water spilled everywhere. We called Geek Squad back, but since then, we have had 4 tech repair no shows. Over 30 plus hours of waiting time plus almost 10 hours of phone calls for nothing!!! Supervisor was no help an couldn't give a reason of the no shows except to say they have a new process. Save yourself some TIME and money - DON"T buy a Samsung fridge at Best Buy. To make this shorter, we scheduled appointment in 5 days with supposedly a different service repair company. Its another waiting game!

    Terrible freezer compartment

    My wife and I are in our late 60s and between the two of us, we've owned just about every type and brand name of refrigerator/freezer. This Samsung (RF23M8070SR/AA) is the worst appliance we've owned in our lives. The freezer must have each of its vents completely free of ANYTHING or you will discover that everything has defrosted. The real insult is that the control panel reads 0 degree when in fact it's well above freezing. If we completely empty it and put things in our chest freezer, it bounces right back to freezing. Rather than wait a long time for Best Buy to come out again, we just put our meats downstairs and limit this freezer to breads, veggies and fruits.

    Had the flex French door for almost 2 years. About 2 months ago it started making noise and the water dispenser worked intermittently. I have the Best Buy warranty so submitted a repair ticket. The first repair person visited 2xs, but really did not know what was wrong. The second service person seemed to know it was the ice maker and the mother board but could not get parts (back ordered).. at this point the fridge was freezing my food and then thawing. The water dispenser stopped working, no ice was being made, the pitcher in the door was not filling, and water has started leaking into the Flex drawer. The Best Buy special agents have submitted an exchange request that will take at least 2 weeks to approve. By then it will be 3 months of these issues.

    Issues With First 2

    I had to have 3 delivered as the first one leaked from the left side door, the second one the middle fridge drawer didn't stay cold. My biggest complaint with this thing is the ice machine - it holds literally 3 cups of ice. If you have 3 people wanting a cup of ice water, there isn't enough ice in the machine. Kind of ridiculous.

    If i can give -10 star,.i will...Like i said before... i was a Samsung fanatic, but when they start mass production of all their products specially refrigerator. In less that 2 years it's garbage, no quality control at all whatsoever, They don't know how to handle defective products and customer service will give you a run around answer and at the end they'll tell you that your warranty expired... Say NO to Samsung Products
