    Don't buy for smart features

    I'm going to make this fridge review short and sweet. I'm an IT Professional working in information security and my entire home is setup for home automation. I'm familiar with most "smart" products today and I absolutely despise Samsung Bixby, even before this purchase I had this opinion and this purchase only reinforced that opinion. In short, Bixby is awful. We tried playing with it "Bixby, tell me a joke" -- Bixby: "I can't do that yet" Even with the aforementioned apprehension I still purchased this fridge anyway for some of its other “smart” integrations and features. What I can tell you the apps on this tablet aren't kept up to date, the tablet performance is lackluster and most apps crash more often than they function. Got a Ring Doorbell? Expect issues, even if you POE the Elite Ring Doorbell the Ring app on the fridge tablet will cut out, break up, freeze, fail to "connect", etc. Love Pandora? Expect issues, like just randomly stopping playing the music for no reason or asking "are you still there?" and stopping the music play. There is no current method to root the tablet and no way to sideload apps either. At best I can report that this fridge does a good job of keeping the wife entertained with digital photos on the fridge. Samsung really screwed up disabling Alexa / Google Home support on this thing. As soon as I can root or sideload apps I'm planning on doing it. Would I buy it again? Probably because some stuff is "OK" at best and the wife is happy. However, I would caution that buying this fridge right now is like buying something still in Beta testing, I expect Samsung will fix it over time but as of August 30th, 2018. It's mostly junk for smart features....

    Had the fridge for less than 3 years, ice maker is spotty and now the freezer part is broken. I thought the family hub was cool but the amazon alexa devices do the same thing for cheaper. Don't buy.

    This frig was great at first. A lot of fun and lots of extra features that made the experience so good. Then it broke. Samsung repair techs came and said said it was dead and not fixable. I have been dealing with the WORSE customer care ever. I haven't had a frig for over a week now and still waiting on their stupid approval process to be approved. Can't keep food in the house to you know....feed my kids. Have family coming in for Thanksgiving and still don't have a frig to speak of. Will NEVER buy another Samsung appliance...what a joke.

    Problems with Icemaker & Touch screen

    Ice maker often freezes and have to spend atleast an hour cleaning it. Touch Screen doesn't work after a while. Both these issues seems to be very common.

    This was not our first choice of refrigerators but what we wanted was not available and since our current fridge was broken we had to get something ASAP. This also means we paid full price, almost $5k. Pros: The fridge is very spacious, although there is not enough room for tall drink containers. The door will fit your milk and juice but that's it. You have an option to push a portion of a shelf back to fit those tall containers but then this blocks the back portion. Cons: The shelves on the upper doors of the left side are so skinny they really don't hold anything. Butter and some capers and its full. The most annoying part for us has been the tablet. From day 1 the Pandora feature (heavily advertised) has not worked. We called Geek Squad for support and they had no ideas or options to help fix this. Randomly Pandora started working for about a week then stopped again. So I call Geek Squad again. Again they do not help me but pass me off to Samsung. Samsung then does the same thing and passes me off to Pandora. Pandora will not accept phone calls for support. Keep in mind how much I paid for this and you understand why I am so upset/frustrated/annoyed. It might not bother me so much if I didn't have to stare at the problem all the time. I close the Pandora app but it opens itself all the time, on the home screen, showing me that it is there and trying to play but just not playing. A constant annoying reminder that I want to listen to music but I can't. I realize how ridiculous this all sounds but it is making me hate my fridge. meh.
