A piece broke off in the ice maker less than 30 days of installing the fridge.

I always thought Samsung was a fairly solid brand. Not with this refrigerator! Service personnel made at least four trips to repair an ongoing issue with the ice maker. Finally had to replace the entire refrigerator as it was not repairable.

bought this in january 2014 and now the freezer is reading 51 degrees. sounds like there is a leak in the sealed system, have a samsung service tech coming next week and am hoping it can't be repaired so I can get a Whirlpool. lucky that the sealed system has a 5 year parts and labor warranty. do yourself a favor and buy from a manufacturer that you have previously owned and had good luck with,

A pure piece of junk. I puchased this fridge almost 6 years ago and here it is, the icemaker has frost buildup and the back of the fridge on the inside has ice buildup. As I looked for a solution online, I found out that there are many people that have experienced this same issue and vowed to never buy samsung again. The samsung representatives are no help at all and they know about this defect but keep selling this garbage. Need a class action lawsuit now!

After 3 months of owning it the ice maker stopped making ice. We pulled the bin out and there was ice frozen in and around the inside of the ice makers. We cleaned that out and called Best Buy for service. The guy came out and ordered a new ice maker. In the meantime the ice maker started making ice again. When the tech came out to install it he decided there was nothing wrong with it and didn't install the new one. The same problem happened again. We cleaned the ice out around the ice maker and it started making ice again. When it happened a third time best buy decided they couldn't work on it and sent out another company to diagnose the problem. AE Factory Service then came out 3 times to try and fix the problem. They eventually ordered a new ice maker. While installing it they broke something in the fridge and it no longer works now. Samsung won't replace it because they say the tech broke it. AE Factory says they MAY replace it but they are fighting with Samsung because it was an existing problem. Luckily we have an old fridge in the garage that we moved all the food to. So here we sit with a fridge that doesn't work while they fight it out. In my opinion there should have never been a problem with the ice maker to begin with.

Ice maker quit working and water leaks inside underneath drawers. Of course this starts happening 6 months after warranty ends!

This is the best French door refrigerator I could find at the lower end of the price scale. I was looking at an LG for about the same price, but the construction quality just feels better on the Samsung. Plus the ice bin is much larger than the similar LG model. And the water filter is completely out of the way. On the LG the water filter blocks some of the space of the top shelf. The LED lighting is great. I like the touch screen panel. So much easier to adjust temperature than the old style dials. You actually get the temperature you ask for without having to readjust for days until you get it right like you did with old-style refrigerators. The ice maker works perfectly, either cubed or crushed, as does the water dispenser. I like that it has an open door alarm. My only slight complaint is that the compressor is slightly louder than my old refrigerator. Then again, I'm not really sure it's louder. Just a different sound than I'm used to, so I notice it when it comes on. Not annoyingly loud though. Overall I really like this refrigerator, and I would still choose this model if I was shopping for one today.

It looks great and works fine, but the compressor is super loud, when it kicks on. Not a normal humming sound almost like high pitched squealing. Which after reading 100s of reviews is apparently normal for this compressor. Would not recommend if you have an open floor plan. We have to turn up the TV just to drown it out.

We spent a lot of time looking at reviews and ratings for refrigerators. All brands and models seem to get negative reviews of some kind so we were taking a gamble on whatever we chose. A lot of reviews say Samsungs make a lot of noise, break easily, and its is hard to find a repair person. Because of that, we purchased the geek squad extended warranty for peace of mind. We chose this model because it has water and ice on the door and ample interior space at a reasonable price (on black Friday sale). Plus, the shelves were able to be customized more than other brands. After using for a month, I am happy with the interior capacity and half/lifting shelves that allow me to fit more inside than any other refrigerator I've owned. A little over a month after installation we have no major complaints. It does make noise though, as other reviewers have noted. The ice maker is a little noisy, but they all make noise when they draw water and drop ice. I don't believe this one is excessively loud. It does make more noise (humming) when it is running compared to the ancient GE P.O.S. that was in the house when we moved in. Considering it is probably way more efficient, I'll live with the louder hum. I have not heard the loud "popping" that other reviews have noted. I hope it stays that way. Some of the interior door storage bins on the left side are small and oddly shaped so they're hard to use; not many things fit in some of the spaces. The water and ice maker are working fine. Sometimes an ice cube melts in the door hopper and some water leaks out and lays in the tray area. Its nice that it can just be wiped clean instead of needing to remove a tray. We use a reverse osmosis filter for our drinking water so it would be nice if Samsung made a "blank" filter so we didn't have the redundancy or need to replace/turn off the replacement notice. The freezer does not have top storage bins so I bought everyday bins so I can organize better. I like the bottom freezer much better than my old top freezer. The drawers allow better organization. If this model made better use of left door interior storage, a blank filter cartridge option, top shelf bins in the freezer, and made less noise I would give it one more star.

Worst refrigerator ever! The motor broke after 1 year! They wouldn’t fix it so I had to go through my home warranty! It drips and there is ice under the meat and cheese drawer all the time!! When we push the button for ice it switches to water!

I've owned this fridge for 6 months now and it has been good overall. The french door design is very practical and this model in particular is packed a lot of features that were absent in other similarly priced models. Pros: -flexible shelf arrangements -power cool/power freeze option -temperature controlled drawer, which I like for keeping drinks at an ideal temperature, around 34º F -decent capacity ice maker -stylist design -front display is easy to use Cons: -removable drip tray would be nice -ice maker is kind of difficult to take out and put back in
