Broke within 1st 3 months - no replacement offered
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my first new refrigerator. I've purchased two cheap, used fridges in the past that both worked for years before I sold them to someone else. So imagine my surprise when I saw that for an extra $1500, I could buy a shiny box that works intermittently and is noisy when it is working. I wouldn't normally write a review for noise... I live in a city, if I needed total quiet I would live somewhere else. But when my 4 month old fridge stopped working for around an hour yesterday- long enough to warm up substantially and I have no idea if the medicines I store in there (which are in serum form and require constant refrigeration) are still good... that does not make me happy. (Note: I had an electrician come out to check the outlet... it was grounded, tight wire and on the same circuit as the stove which was on the entire time the fridge just up and stopped). Getting through to customer service was easy. But they informed me that all they could do was make an appointment for a repair person to take a look. They couldn't replace what is likely a defective item. And since the fridge was on and then wasn't and then was... unless the technician magically shows up when the thing goes out again, I'm not even sure what they will be able to do. But I did my research, as anyone reading this probably does, and from what I can tell, none of these refrigerator manufacturers are making quality products that last anymore. I almost wonder if it isn't intentional at this point... If they are all making poor quality products, we will have to continue buying new products when the old ones die. If anyone finds a brand that lasts like the old refrigerators used to... let me know. I'd gladly give up stainless and singing chimes for a fridge that just keeps my food cold year after year. Also side note: the freezer doesn't freeze evenly. Meats on bottom have freezer burn already after maybe a month, while the stuff on the top is cooled just enough to be frozen. Only plus I see is that the layout of the fridge portion is well-laid out, adjustable and convenient.

Great fridge!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We needs a new fridge right away and my husband did his research and came upon this one. I thought our old fridge was roomy, boy was I mistaken. After loading our new fridge with food, we had a lot of space yet to fill. I love the French door design and the neat pantry drawer in the fridge. We don't have the ice maker hooked up (not plumbed for it) so using it as is is fine by our needs. The freezer is plenty roomy for everything we have.

Great until it wasn't
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this in 2017, and until recently it has been great. The size, features, etc., are excellent, the price was low, it looks good, and the in-door water dispenser is unique and cool. There was some excessive frost build-up in the freezer that led to a repair visit (under warranty) during the first year, but no major problems otherwise until last month. On one of the hottest days in July, the fridge started to get warm and couldn't seem to get cool again. Opening the fridge doors for even a short while would cause the internal temperature to spiral out of control and it would take hours to get back down to a safe level, and opening the freezer drawer for even a second would make things so bad that it could only recover (slowly) after the whole fridge was unplugged and replugged--and why that works in the first place, I have no idea. After going through the hassle of contacting Samsung support, we've had three repair visits so far over the course of over a month. Although the repairmen themselves have been polite and competent, they haven't been able to resolve the problem, and it seems as though Samsung support is giving them the runaround. First they said it was a dirty coil, then they said it was a coolant leak, but then they couldn't find the leak and didn't know what was wrong. At the latest repair visit, the repairman was initially told by Samsung that there was no identifiable problem (!) simply because the fridge temps were low when the repairman arrived--which was only because we had stopped opening it altogether. I begged him to take one more look, and at least he says Samsung will "review" our claim to see if they can provide a replacement, but honestly who knows what that means. In the meantime, we've had no fridge for over a month now, which has made life incredibly difficult. If a fridge can't be relied on to work, and the manufacturer can't be relied on to fix it, it's a poor product regardless of the price or the features.

Excellent French Door Refrigerator
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great fridge that has plenty of space and adjustability. The door compartments are adjustable which is great for milk and other condiments. The water dispenser on the inside is a great feature because you don't loose storage space with a water and ice maker in the door. Freezer has great space and the divider really makes it easy to keep track of what you have in it.

Big Bang for the Buck!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had a refrigerator failure and was forced to look for a replacement. My old unit was a "water and ice" in the door model. Well, the main board went out one night and all the melted ice from the ice make was on my hardwood floors! This model has a nice size catch pan/tray that will prevent this from happening in the future if the power goes off or there is a unit failure.....I hope! Also, the freezer has a solid bottom (about 4 inches) before the circulation ports start as an extra safety net. The ice maker is a dream and is very fast. The fresh water dispenser inside the box makes you think about what you are doing and spills or drips are easy to wipe up. The design could be a little more "user friendly" but, it works very well. The LED lighting is something I never thought about until we put food in the box. Makes location things very easy. Over all, I am very pleased with this purchase and would recommend it if you are looking for a new refrigerator in the 26cu.ft. range. It is only three weeks old so, I cannot address the longevity.

Great Fridge, Great Price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Love this fridge. The inside water disp. is a huge selling point. We didn't want the ice and water in the door as you lose alot of storage space. This was the answer to our problem and works perfect. My only complaint is that the cost of the filters is really high and wish we had been made aware of that. I love how fresh our produce stays as well, I would say it lasts about twice as long as before.

Great refrigerator
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great refrigerator. The temp setting for both the fridge & freezer is a digital readout of an actual temperature instead of a dial numbered 1 through 10 (my favorite feature). It's big enough to hold everything our family of 4 wants to put in it. The only negative I can come up with is it can be pretty loud at times when the compressor is running but, it's no big deal. Overall, a good purchase.

Defective Part?
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If I base this review on the information I read from various resources, it seems the Samsung refrigerators prior to 2019 have a history of the condenser freezing over causing the fan to stop and the temp not maintaining. Samsung would not in any way help with the replacement. Further, the trays are difficult to remove making it difficult for them to be cleaned. The frequently used crisper drawer requires both doors to be opened, which defeats the purpose. Cleaning the crisper top can be very difficult if you do not have strong fingers. Need to go back to fewer gadgets on the frig.

Excellent Design
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my 2nd Samsung Refrigerator and I love it. Extremely spacious with tons of drawer and shelf space. We have had it for 5 days now and have not heard any of the noise reported in other reviews. Although we do not have the waterline connected for the icemaker / water dispenser so that may be why. All in all, I love this fridge. Especially the black stainless steel.

A+++
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had this fridge for about 6 months now. At first like many other reviews it made loud popping noises when cooling. After looking into it I leveled the fridge. I mean perfectly level every corner front to back side to side and the popping has since stopped. So don't let that stop you from buying this amazing fridge. If you make sure it's level you won't get any loud noises

Great fridge, reasonable price (better if on sale)
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really like this fridge. I got the model with no thru the door features because I think it takes up too much room from the door to supply the water and ice. The fridge has plenty of room for my family of 5 and keeps things cold. I like the deli tray and the little water spigot inside the door. The not so good stuff: freezer drawer seems to make lots of noise when you open it. (I probably should call their support people about this, haven't yet). The freezer seems to keep things too cold. I have it at the highest setting (5 degrees) and the ice cream is rock hard. Finally, the bucket for the ice seems to lose ice cubes off the back when it gets too full. Not a big deal as you can turn off the ice maker if it gets too full. Final complaint, ice maker is pretty slow making ice. Takes a day to fill the bucket. Again, not too big of a deal (its a big bucket!) for our family. All things considered, I love this fridge! I would recommend to a friend. I have had the fridge about a month now. So far so good. Ask me again in a year or too., we'll see.

Buyer be aware! Do your research...
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Just do your research and be aware of what you are buying(Samsung appliance). The reviews left on the Best Buy's site can be misleading and possibly skewed. After our first filter replacement the fridge makes LOUD intermittent noises that can be heard from upstairs with the door closed. So far, Samsung's online chat support is a joke. After pretty much just repeating the troubleshooting section of the manual they told me that I need a tech to come out. Just requested service. I will update review after the tech comes out. Also the water dispenser location can get annoying when filling pitchers...

Only minor glitches
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Overall we're happy with this refrigerator. However, there are two minor things. First, there was a problem with the switch for the water. The plastic switch was slightly warped which made it fall off of where it is supposed to be mounted. I superglued it to the mount and haven't had a problem since. That was just a manufacturing problem, the second problem was a design flaw. The ice maker doesn't shut off until the ice bin gets just a tad too full. Consequently one or two bits of ice fall out of the freezer sometimes when you open it. The bin holds a decent amount of ice so when it gets full I just shut off the ice maker until the bin is almost empty. This doesn't happen too often and so it's only a minor nuisance.

Terrible Design
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We had this refrigerator for 2 weeks before returning to best buy for a different model fridge. Best Buy did a great job working with us. This refrigerator is laid out well, has great door space, and does a great job maintaining the temperature. But, it is so noisy it is best suited for a garage or somewhere else not near a living space. Noise issues include very loud popping sounds from the refrigerator whenever the compressor runs which must be caused by the casing or parts inside the refrigerator contracting as they cool down. The compressor is terrible from a noise standpoint. On start up it makes a loud deep rumble as it gets the refrigerant flowing, then when it is operating it has a high pitched noise that is very disturbing. Sitting 20 feet away from the refrigerator with headphones on I could hear the high pitched noise of the compressor. Samsung was great when we contacted them about the noisy compressor. They sent a 3rd party appliance repairman to our home. He thought the compressor was noisy and called the technical department at Samsung. The Samsung rep over the phone, without even listening to the compressor, said it was normal for the compressor to make these noises. After this we returned the refrigerator. About the compressor: it is one of the newer linear compressors that is variable speed and energy efficient with fewer (but noisier) moving parts. Armed with this information we searched for a new refrigerator with an older style compressor. We wound up buying a Samsung RF4287HARS which we love. The refrigerator does not pop when it cools down and it has the older style compressor that is quieter, has only a 5 year warranty instead of 10, and costs $60 / year to operate instead of $48 / year. Well worth the extra $12 a year and shorter compressor warranty for some peace and quiet. This is such a good fridge that we will just replace the compressor for $600 or so when it fails in the next 10 years.

Unacceptable noise
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I loved the look and design of this refrigerator before I purchased it. It checked off all of my boxes for design: sleek, clean, and internal water and ice machines. I read some reviews and most were really good, but there were a few that commented on how horrible the noise was. I couldn't comprehend these complaints so I ignored them and purchased it anyway. I WISH I DIDN'T. What an expensive mistake. The refrigerator motor is fine and is perfectly quiet. The problem is with the insulation and the unit makes loud cracks and pops throughout the day. We have our kitchen as open concept and it completely disrupts the peace of our living space. The noises even wake me up in the middle of the night...and my bedroom is upstairs! I called Samsung customer service for assistance and I was told this is completely "normal". Apparently the unit was designed to maximize the interior space and the thermal insulation is minimal therefore creating temperature fluctuations which transcend to cracking plastic. What an expensive mistake. It's making me crazy and now am stuck with it. :(

Buyer Be Aware
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Please be aware of a problem that most Samsung products suffer from. Our three door refrigerator, that is only five years old, had one of its door handles break while trying to open it. The part, which holds the pin that holds the door handle, broke. The plastic part IS NOT REPLACEABLE. That means that if this part breaks, you have to buy another complete door. There is nothing wrong with the door other than this weak plastic part. The plastic part that failed probably costs a buck or two to make and maybe twelve dollars in a store, if it was sold, now costed us $300. It seems that during design and assembly, SAMSUNG has placed a PLASTIC part that is not repairable and the customer is responsible for their mistake. Custom services' response was that there was nothing they could do because my refrigerator was not under warranty. Since my fridge is five years old, a warranty wouldn't have helped anyway. Your concern should be that SAMSUNG's products have these parts in them. If your spending your hard earned money on SAMSUNG products, your depending on the SAMSUNG name and reputation to help its customers out when one of their products has failed. This is a design flaw by SAMSUNG. SAMSUNG should take responsibility for their mistakes.

Horrible Loud Noises When Using Water
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It took about 1 week after we bought this for the the water system to start making an awful noise. It sounds like a machine gun and it's awful. The noise/vibration travels up the pipes and is loud in our daughter's room above the kitchen on the 2nd floor. After 3 weeks I finally got someone out here to "fix" it and it worked ok for a few hours, but later that evening it was back to the same issue. I called the repair center and it's been 4 days and I have not heard from them. Samsung has been pleasant to deal with, but their repair contractors are awful. They never call back, when they do it's not on the correct number, they leave a message and when you try to call them back no one answers. It takes another 3 days to hear from them. It's been almost a month I've been trying to get my brand new refrigerator fixed and I don't see any end in sight. I will be buying another brand next time. It also doesn't make a whole lot of ice. There are only 2 adults and 1 toddler in my house and we are always scraping the bottom.
