    Samsung ice maker issues

I have owned a french door Samsung fridge with ice/water in the door for only a couple of years now and the ice maker started freezing up after about a year and a half. It's a HUGE and known problem with Samsung ice makers-just check out youtube or google it. There is actually a class action law suit going on about it. Samsung will not recall/fix them outside of the one year warranty which is when the issue starts. Buyers beware and go with a more trusted brand.

    Looks great, poor function

The ice maker is our biggest complaint. It doesn't make enough ice to keep up with our family of 4. Within a few months of purchase, the ice maker quit working. Best Buy came and put in a new ice makerit, but the technician warned us that it is common for the ice makers to burn up in Samsungs, and the ice maker is not included in our extended warranty. The fridge isn't even paid off, and we are being told it's probably not going to last us 3 years. Our next complaint is storage. It lacks interior space. You can't store much in the door shelves unless it's tiny bottles, so our entire fridge is used to store condiment bottles, and there is little room left for food containers. This fridge also doesn't keep food very cold. We have it set on the coldest setting, but our milk and drinks are just slightly cooler than room temperature....and since we have no ice most of the time, it's quite frustrating. The freezer space is poorly laid out too. Half the space is used to store bagged ice that we've been forced to buy, the other half is hard to organize frozen foods due to the design of the freezer. I prefer my old traditional freezer on top with shelves to organize and separate meats, ice cream and frozen foods. The only reason I gave this 2 stars is because of its appearance and the convenience of the flood shwacase door. I'll never purchase another Samsung appliance.

    Class action lawsuit in process

Initially this was a wonderful purchase. It is a great refrigerator except that the ice maker continually breaks. Samsung knows that this is an issue and has yet to recall or do any real fixes. I've owned the refrigerator for a little over a year and the ice maker has broken four times already. BestBuy is not willing to exchange it unless the ice maker breaks almost 30 times before my warranty expires in a little less than two years!! I would highly recommend looking at a different manufacturer.

    Ice maker freezes

Ice maker started freezing and not working 3.5years after purchase. We had to force defrost it after watching YouTube videos and after 3 attempts, it was still frozen solid. Ended up defrosting the entire refrigerator for a day and the ice maker started working but after a week it was frozen over again.

We replaced our fridge when we remodeled our kitchen. It has been great so far. love all the storage, and the multi use drawer. First one came damaged, but BestBuy had a new one out a few days later. Great Service.

Same Old Samsung Ice Maker Junk

We purchased this refrigerator in 2018. For the last 2 years the ice maker keeps freezing up. We have got to a point that we just put ice trays in our bottom draw like the old days. So ridiculous! We are trying to get Samsung to repair it. 1-800 SAMSUNG

Never Buy open box from Best Buy

I had a worst experience with recent open box purchase at best buy. I bought this open box item from Best buy store. It didn't work (Control panel not setting Fridge temperature and Open Door sound alarm keeps beeping). I talked to best buy customer service over the phone, they kept transferring my call until I hung off. No body from CS willing to help. Last representative (i think 11 the person the call was transferred to) I talk to said call Samsung. Best buy is not willing to help once product is out of their door. Its pretty costly product but of no use.

The greatest thing about this Fridge to me is the drawer, doors and Power freeze when I put fresh meat in it. The Ice cube maker and dispenser are not the greatest.

    Just...Dont...

The common issue is the Ice Maker. In a word, it's EXACTLY as others say it is. It fails; needs a few more class-actions suits. Mine has been repaired twice...first Geek Squad as Samsung resisted: I didn't have a warranty (of course I did!), the second, GS wouldn't do it, Samsungs’ people did. Finally. The refrigerator is ok except… The Icemaker fails after a certain time, a condition that seems to happen a few months after activation and the problems arise when there's any form of water accumulation from any source. Once the area "defrosts" for any reason, it doesn't always completely remove the water…and this cascades over time, building up a HUGE amount of Ice. Ice that can’t be cleared except with a hairdryer (some use that) or hot water bottles (which won’t melt anything, I used those) with a towel(s) holding in the warmer air so as not to “infect” the remainder of the fridge. My repairs were costly to the Best Buy I’m sure. I have to hand it to the GS guy, he was amazing and quite friendly. Conversely, Samsungs’ proxy people are lousy over the phone, and they’re just plain rude. I guess they have to be; they’re the shock troupes of the company. Samsung KNOWS of this issue as it’s widespread. I even knew of it and thought, ‘gee, that’s a bit of hyperbole isn’t it?” No, it’s really not. Check out the Class Action suits against them. They’re large so it’s tough to get movement against them, but some are trying. Special Note: If you do NOT have proof of purchase SENT TO THE NJ PROXY DIRECTLY, they MAY not schedule a call to say nothing of the repair. Even when issued a “waiver” as I was, it STILL didn’t happen. Try making a fax when you don’t own one. Really. Try. It took some re-programming (separate board) replacement fans (yes, those too) and a few other changes to “fix” the issue (I’d have added more insulation as the cubes aren’t all that firm, but what do I know? I haven’t done air conditioning or appliance repair as a master’s Helper in years) the second time, and I’m awaiting problems but I’m cautiously hopeful; not optimistic. I check every few weeks to check on buildup. It’s now required. So… I’d steer clear of them if you have the option; it’s just the wise thing to do. At least I GOT a repair person; see what’s happened to the folks on the Left Coast (shudder).

    Do not buy this Fridge

I hope this reaches at least one person. I bought this fridge roughly 2 years ago and for the first year it was amazing. Then the issues started. The first issue was the ice cube maker freezing up until no more ice was produced. This is a known issue and there is a lawsuit pending against samsung for it. Seriously. Google it. The next issue is randomly you will hear the fridge going off. Like someone is pressing buttons but there is no one near the fridge. The last issue is now the water pressure. A cup of water used to take 15 seconds to fill. Now it takes around 50 seconds. It's a trickle now. Samsung makes excellent Televisions but their appliances are garbage. Stick with a company that has been in the game for a long time. Sorry Samsung. Your fridge is trash.

    Died After 3 Years

We liked this fridge but have had nothing with but trouble with in after the first 13 months of ownership. The ice maker (Google it - a wide spread issue with these Fridges) has been freezing up and not working for 2 years. Approximately every 4-6 weeks i have to completely defrost and dry out. Finally the fridge stopped cooling. Freezer works fine. Of course we bought the matching stove with it and now am shopping in panic trying to get a new fridge. I did call Samsung and they were nice on phone but service people wouldn't even come look at it unless i paid $200. Too much money for something that barely last 3 years.

Beautiful piece but not worth the money. Ice maker is freezing and won’t make ice after 1 1/2 year. I bought all 4 pieces and all 4 have Paint chipping. Honestly not sure if I would buy from Samsung again.

    Icemaker is terrible-Samsung service worse

Fixed the icemaker 3 times before it finally fell apart spewing pieces of metal into the dispenser that of course will now be in your drink. Samsung allegedly concerned but Samsung's (India service center) is the model of fobbing off the consumer with "someone will contact you", but they never do. Usually, a different excuse every time I call. Try another company, any company for your next very expensive purchase.

    Beware of Samsung appliances

Have had this fridge for just under 4 years. The ice maker has been broke for at least a year, and as of 3 years, 10 months the entire fridge quit working. Thought we got a lemon until I started looking online. Samsung appliances have major problems. The warranty has had us jumping through hoops for 3 weeks with no resolution and we just have to wait for the next step. I don't wish this on anyone

I wish I had researched Samsung refrigerator defects before I purchased my refrigerator. The refrigerator stopped cooling to a safe temperature one month after the Best Buy warranty ran out. Don’t trust what the digital display settings read. I lost $700.00 in fresh and frozen food products (COVID increased costs). The ice maker also stopped working shortly after the warranty ran out. Samsung has known about the defects since 2007.
