    the ice maker goes bad and will send up stop making ice, need to get it replaced but the GSP for this unit does not cover the ice maker

    Great Concept Destroyed by Malfunctioning Icemaker

    Have purchased many Samsung products over the years. NO MORE! We purchased the 28 foot 4 Door black stainless model and the icemaker froze in less than 6 months. Thought it was just a simple problem. At approximately 14 months called for service and was charged $750.00 to replace most of the parts under a service bulletin issued by Samsung. Notice- Samsung said there was a problem but we were the ones who were charged. Now it is rare that the icemaker does not freeze up at least once a month. We even lowered the temperature in the refrigerator section to 35 degrees. This does not solve the problem. We will buy no more Samsung products until Samsung replaces this joke of an icemaker with one that works properly. It has already cost them a 4K television and player purchase. The concept is great and we love the french doors and the 2 drawers but the worsening problems of the icemaker and Samsung's FAILURE to ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY will prevent us purchasing any further Samsung products. Maybe this is why there is currently a Class Action Lawsuit in progress concerning the faulty design and function of this icemaker. BUYER BEWARE!

    We has a side by side go bad and decided that we liked the side by side but the freezer at the bottom just makes sense. After looking at dozens of refrigerators this one had good reviews and we bought it. Great buy with the matching price policy. Great delivery team. Day one we found that for as big as it is it has limited room for tall items like wine, milk and more. To over come that EVERYONE on the web has the tray attached to the ice maker folded up which reduced the total capacity. The freezer is on large tray with stuff piled on top of one another. All this is okay I guess but it was not a well thought out purchase by us. And then the real issue. After 4 months the ice maker stopped working. The motor was trying to push the ice but it was stuck. I tried to open the ice maker and it was frozen shut. How did I know that EVERYBODY has the tray folder up? YouTube video searches to figure out about the ice maker. This model and older models all freeze up some every4-6 weeks. One hour with a blow dryer and it was back in action. Make an educated purchase!

    Great fridge! Overall we love it, the ice and water can make a little bit of a mess, but easy quick clean up. We love the easy open door to grab things we use a lot quickly. The extra drawer is also perfect for drinks and snacks.

    The refrigerator looks nice and has all the technology, but has poor design issues. The front door is the only place that can hold a gallon of milk. Adjusting the shelves takes away space from other item in the fridge and the ice machine blocks some of the adjustment. The water pitcher in the door is great, but it does leak while pouring. The ice machine is the worst part of the fridge as it has had several repairs. The one's after warranty are very expensive and they require repeated repair visits because the parts are poor quality and fail often right out of the box. In the 4 years we had this fridge, it has gone through about 4 ice machine parts. We had a service on it with repairs and it continues to fail, so we have to make yet another service call for it.

    The purchase went well. When we bought our refrigerator and had it delivered we found out from the staff that the refrigerator was too big for the area that we were going to put it in and needed the "counter depth" which turned out to be the smaller size needed for our area as compared to the "standard size" which we had. I wasn't thrilled to find out about this, but we went on, so until the one they brought us was put back through the system we went without a refrigerator until then except one we already had for back-up use. After some other problems and home issues were handled got the right refrigerator put in and had no problems. I however was not thrilled about not knowing this size difference originally and causing the original problem in the first place.

    Bought this refrigerator in 2019 and love it's look and features. After a few months the ice maker started freezing up. Contacted Samsung and they send out a tech and they replaced the ice maker. Tech said it was a common problem with Samsung refrigerators. The refrigerator has been fine up until 3 months ago when the freezer stopped working. It's been a complete nightmare dealing with Samsung and appliance repair places. The are all incompetent. The whole refrigerator died 3 weeks ago and we finally got another repair place out after the prior one replaced the compressor that didn't fix the problem. It's been 3 weeks now and they still haven't received parts from Samsung. Been such a nightmare. I've been very brand loyal to Samsung but I'm done with their appliances. Our prior Kenmore one was still working after 15 years.

    We purchased this refrigerator after having our side by side Kitchen Aide for 20 years. We really wanted to try the bottom freezer style. This particular model had 4 stars and good reviews. The ice maker is horrible...we have to take it apart every 2 weeks and defrost the ice build up around the unit with a hair dryer. When the technician delivered the refrigerator he asked how long we had our Kitchen Aide and we told him 20 years, he said you’ll be lucky to get 5 years out of this Samsung! Wish we could have talked to him while in the store picking out the refrigerator!

    I was not sure to get this Fridge.. I heard about some wild stores about ice makers freezing up.. The best buy sales guy told me the 2019 models they fixed the problem.. So far it have been very reliable .. Its very easy to you when tied to your smart phone.. .. It cools down really fast. with power cool and power freeze nice feature when you bring in a huge load of groceries in.. Also its so quiet i have to check to see if it running and keeping my food cold.. the picture in the door is great when you need filter water fast for cooking. I highly recommend this fridge.. but make sure that you can wait for it.. its on back order it took 3 weeks to get it. People are eating more at home due to covid.

    Icemaker broken

    The icemaker has frozen up. I cannot get the front off. Unfortunatley the warrenty expired & Samsung wants $ 300-600 to repair. Looking on line this is a all too common problem with these refrigerators

    So I so wanted to like this unit, there are pluses but the minuses far outweigh the pluses. I have the previous model, it's exactly the same with the exception of the control panel at the dispenser area. So here is the good, the bad and the ugly. The good is the 2 door operation on the right upper door is wonderful for quick access without opening the whole door. The freezer works well and the deli drawer is a nice functioning unit. The bad is the icemaker being in the refrigerator is a really bad idea!! I have resealed the complete compartment, replaced the assembly with the updated 4th parts supercession (hint, hint-Houston, we have a problem) Known issue!! My aunt has a side by side and zero problems!! It frosts up, ice doesn't turn out of the tray, gets stuck. This is caused by the fact that the icemaker is in the refrigerator and air in the refrigerator is not cold enough and condensation allows frost build up and clogs it up, there appears to be no fix, new replacement unit and all my modifications have not rectified the issue, still clogs up, works for a couple of weeks, then you have to break out the hair dryer, defrost the compartment and start over. Oh joy. The other bad things, one of the drawer bottoms cracked, not cheap to replace so some two part epoxy will be the answer. The cheap plastic lever for the water and ice dispenser broke, it is not available as a replacement but only comes with the assembly at a cost of over $200. Another two part epoxy repair coming up!! Now the ugly, Samsung new the icemaker was an issue, especially with the 4 part supercession within a year. I called them and they agreed to take care of the issue, then when they discovered I was not in a service area for one of their technicians they rescinded the offer. I asked for them to send me the replacement part and I would install and they declined. I offered to load up this 400 pound behemoth and take it to an authorized repair facility, nope. Nothing, zip, just a big fat stick in the eye. Now to put all that into perspective I have been a Samsung customer for about a dozen years now and have spent tens of thousands of dollars with them and every appliance, TV in my house was Samsung. They lost me as a customer, I will never buy another thing ever again, to not try and take care of me as a loyal customer was inexcusable. I am developing problems on several of the items all purchased in the last 5 years. Shameful product quality when it comes down to it. From the clothes dryer, to the oven to the TV. It is hard to find quality appliances anymore, and I search long and hard and read lots of reviews everywhere to determine the most bang for the buck and the best quality trying to avoid made in China garbage as well. That being said I still have not determined when I start replacing these units which way I will go. My past experiences lead me to lean to Amana, I still have a 20 year old Amana as a 2nd refrigerator that works wonderfully as well as a heavily abused commercial washer and dryer set that lasted 20 years as well. The problem is they were bought up and are all manufactured in the same place as GE, Whirlpool and the rest of the inferior products out there now. Maytag made a move a couple of years ago to refocus and produce quality products again but only time will tell as of now. So I am to the point of looking at Amana, Bosch and Maytag and watch and study reviews on all of them so I know which way to go when I make the change. Sad because I was so happy in the earlier years with my Samsung products but the refrigerator was the last straw. So if you are one to read reviews and feedback and decide on purchasing one of these I have two recommendations because I have to fix all of my own problems, even under warranty because they don't provide service here, so make sure you are in their service area first. Second, pay attention to what I wrote about the icemaker and problems with it and make them fix it under warranty!! It will be a problem, not if, but when, don't let it fool you!! Remove the ice tray and inspect for frost build up in the compartment every month. That was by far the biggest downfall with this unit. Hope this helps those out there dropping serious coin into a refrigerator to make an informed decision.
