TL;DR: SETUP: The Samsung Odyssey G5 is quick and to set up. It’s a good size, but the stand has limited adjustability, as it only tilts. You might need a VESA arm if you need more customizing. USE: It is smooth, clear, has great clarity, and low input lag. It is great for racing games. USABILITY: It’s easy to use, but the stand limits things a bit. It’s not true HDR, but I still think the screen is great. OVERALL: The Odyssey G5 has great clarity and speed. The motion performance is great. It hits above its price class. REVIEW: I have been using the Samsung Odyssey G5 27” for just over a week. It’s a 1440p monitor that is smooth, clear, and easy to use while gaming, working from home, or just browsing. After unpacking it, you install the stand and plug in your computer or laptop. The panel and joystick help get you up and running quickly. In daily use, the monitor works well. The 165Hz refresh rate and FreeSync Premium support give it a noticeably smooth feel, especially with fast‑moving content, while the IPS panel gives strong color accuracy and wide viewing angles. Text clarity is excellent, which makes long work sessions easier, and the 1440p resolution gives you enough screen real estate to multitask without feeling cramped. I have a 36’ curved monitor, as well, which I keep all my “stored” stuff I want to access quickly. The Odyssey has the stuff I need right away. My laptop has my email. For me, it works well and doesn’t dominate my desk. I have a friend who wanted it to swivel, and it doesn’t do that. It doesn’t bother me, but it did him. Getting a VESA arm would fix this if that’s an issue for you. There also aren’t built‑in speakers. I don’t have any issues, but it’s worth noting just in case that is something you may need. I use my laptop’s speakers or earbuds or over-the-ear headphones when needed. Overall, the Odyssey G5 works well for me and my light gaming, working from home, and video and shopping experiences. It is a crisp, fast, and reliable display with limited complexity. It excels where I want it to, which is motion performance, color, and everyday usability. It fits well within my at-home workspace.

When I opened the box, I saw the base, an extension piece, and a pack with cables. Underneath those items was the monitor that assembled very easily by attaching the base to the extension piece and just snapping the square of the extension piece into the square on the rear of the monitor. It is a huge monitor manufactured with quality components. The picture is sharp and clear and can be adjusted to my specific specifications. The pixels are tightly compressed with no running or bleeding of colors. Games look great and arcade quality, with this monitor. Also, it comes with HDR 10 that produces extremely vibrant colors to make the gaming experience as realistic as possible. The slightest colors become in full detail. The resolution of 2560 x 1440 is outstanding and makes detailed sharp images. The field of view (FOV) is wide enough to see action on the edges of my game. The refresh rate is extremely fast and eliminated any prior lag that I witnessed with my old monitor. The monitor can tilt to many angles and it raises up and down. Connectivity is with the HDMI port or the DisplayPort. The power button is to high up in the rear for a smooth power on, but its sleek design and great operational functions diminish the power buttons awkward placement. I think this monitor offers good value for people wanting a sharp, fast display for gaming and home office use without spending the money on premium monitors. The Quad HD resolution is sharp but still legible since not all gaming computers can perform 180fps with 4k so this gives a good compromise on higher resolution gaming but not so much that it requires only a top gaming machine. When playing with the smoothness from the 180hz makes it a strong choice for everyday gaming and general usage. Since it is an fast IPS display the viewing angles are not the best and the blacks are not as deep as say an OLED but it does have vivid colors for gaming. If needed for photo/video editing this may not be the monitor for you since the colors are limited. The contrast was not the best but still good. For the money it is definitely a good buy. I noticed an immediate difference once I switched out my other monitor for this one. I would just say that the bezel is glossy so when tilting or adjusting the screen it shows fingerprints easily. The size is good for being a 27” and having this resolution. When using for non-gaming things are easy to read and you can easily use split screen in Windows and everything lays out well.
