Defective Stainless Steel Finish - Not Just Mine
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The stainless steel finish is defective and starts to look streaked and marred within a year. We take very good care of it, and have tried many things to clean it, but to no avail. We have friends who bought it, and have the same exact problem (much worse as they have had it longer). We called Samsung to complain while it was still under warranty. At first, they said they would replace the door, but then when the service person got here they said it wasn't covered and they would not replace it. Now we have an extremely ugly looking $2,000 refrigerator in our otherwise fairly nice kitchen.

The ice maker constantly freezes over
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had this fridge for a couple years now, and I'm a huge fan of ice with all of my drinks. Not only does this have it really small ice tray, which I was able to get used to, but the maker always freezes over. To the point where it cannot push any of the ice cubes into the catcher. I regularly have to run a forced defrost just so I can get ice made for about a couple days, then it freezes over again. I shouldn't have to be jumping through hoops constantly to fix this issue. But apparently it's a very known problem

Shelf Height Might Be An Issue
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We've owned the unit for approx. 1 month. No issues with maintaining a steady temperature. The refrigerator is also very quiet except for the ice maker. The sound of ice tumbling into the storage area can be a bit jarring. A couple items of note. First the ice cubes are fairly small. Not a big deal. Just different from the size of the cubes our other fridges make/made. Also, despite my best efforts, some cubes from the dispenser manage to miss the glass and land on the floor. Dogs would consider this an advantage. Biggest issue is the limited space to put larger items upright in the fridge. Only one shelf is really dedicated to larger items (milk containers, pop bottles). Larger overflow items need to be laid horizontally. Not a great approach for liquids. It is nice to be able to store items like frozen pizzas in the freezer compartment. Much easier to find frozen items than in our old side by side.

i expected it to be quiet
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My refig has an annoying high pitched whine when it first starts running. If you are sensitive to noise beware. This is my main objection to an otherwise well designed refrig. The refrig compartment is large and keeps fruit and vegetables well. The lighting is superb. the middle drawer is a great feature..

Bank on your ice maker failing...
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I loved this refrigerator and was so excited to buy it. Unfortunately, the ice maker stopped working and would not dispense. Not only was it making ice, it was building up a layer of ice around the cavity of the ice maker. Samsung sent me links to repair it ourselves and none of them worked. We finally gave up and started buying ice and storing it in the freezer. Finally decided to get a repairman out this week and lo and behold, the certified repairman told my husband this is an EXTREMELY common problem that has many Samsung refrigerator owners proclaiming they will never buy another Samsung appliance again. This expensive little number will soon end up in our garage to hold beverages when we replace it with a better quality refrigerator that does not have the Samsung name on it.

2 year update: why did we buy it?
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After 15 years we finally decided to replace our old refrigerator. After walking through the best buy store we feel in love with the design of this samsung refrigerator. Ours is an older model but looks exactly like the one shown. The design was gorgeous, the compartments were fantastic and it was a samsung. We knew the brand was reliable for things like phones and TVs and we were a little skeptical buy we went with it and we are not ones to buy warranty we always thought it was a waste of money but something told me let's just get it since we weren't familiar with Samsung in the appliance arena. A couple days later after we got our beautiful fridge I was showing a friend and she looked at me like oh boy. She said she bought the same one a year prior and it was already giving her problems and she regretted not buying the warranty. After my stomach dropped for a second I felt a sense of relief cause we bought the warranty. This fridge is quite a bit of work. You need the extensive filter every other month it seems like and about 8 months ago All of a sudden it went caput. The ice machine was acting slowly and water tasted different. New filter? Maybe ok let's change it again. But over time we noticed the ice doesn't work as well as it use too, the water started tasting different and the temperature in the fridge started to change. We thought we were crazy but in the last two months it went totally downhill. No ice. Barely water but im not drinking it and the fridge isn't cold anymore. We decided to empty the whole fridge from top to bottom and disconnect it maybe a reboot if you will would help. Nope. Same performance. Finally I called our warranty and they came out 2 days later. He technician stated we needed new parts for the ice maker and the something about the fridge not knowing it's cold I cant remember. Why i cant remember because this was 3 weeks ago!!!! Parts are on back order till the 25th of this month and we are forced to be without a workin fridge. I'm pregnant with a 5 year old. Never again will we ever buy samsung for appliances. I'm sticking to phones and TVs. My recommendation. Do not buy. Stick to the old reliables.

Worst Experience Ever with a Company
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First, I have to say that I love the flex zone drawer, and the freezer down below. Unfortunately, the issues I have had with the icemaker and POOR Samsung customer service have left such a bad taste in my mouth that I could NEVER recommend any of their products ever again. I have been dealing with Samsung for about 9 months now over the fact that the ice maker does not work properly. Same complaint as lots of other folks – crushed ice instead of cubes and water comes out sometimes when you are trying to dispense ice. Poor communication at best with the company, and, after 3 service calls and a full replacement of the ice maker, it still doesn't work. (I find it very interesting that they have contracted with DISH Network for service calls!) During all this, I found out that there is a class action lawsuit against Samsung because of this issue. Wonder why they still keep churning out the same junk instead of fixing the problem? I have spent many, many hours on the phone with various Samsung reps whose poor English skills and condescending attitudes make for a very stressful experience. I was finally told that they finally have approved the complete exchange of the unit - provided I haul it back to Best Buy for the exchange! When I told the rep that I expected Samsung to pay to have Best Buy bring out the new unit and exchange it at my house, I was told there was nothing they could do about it. REALLY?!?!?! When I asked to speak to a supervisor, I was told that there were none available (so what else is new?) Now a month later…The unit is still showing not in stock at Best Buy. I called the Best Buy supervisor to ask for assistance. After Carol spent several hours messing around with Samsung, she was told that the unit had been discontinued. Best Buy agreed to give me the new model at the same price. Thank you Best Buy! Let’s hope the ice maker works on this one! Oh, and did I forget to mention that the $500 rebate in gift card form I was promised by buying a package set of their appliances STILL has never been delivered to me, despite at least six phone calls and emails to the company? I will NEVER, ever do business with Samsung again.

A very noisy machine
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I looked at reviews and saw several indicating the noise issue but thought that the good outweighed the bad re the reviews. Well, I must say this model was so noisy I had to stop what I was doing several times to confirm that the noises were coming from this high end refrig. Like a winding up and down noise and then a annoying noise like some kind of engine idling in there somewhere. The noise is significant. It does stop at times. Traded up for the LG. Very quiet, worth the extra money in my opinion. Best buy was very good with the exchange. On the postive side, it kept food and drinks cold, and looks nice. For the price I would expect a quiet high end refrig.

Wait a while before you revue
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This refrigerator has a known defect. The actuating lever on the ice dispenser will break. If you search online you will find numerous instances. It will take a year or so to break and then cost $400 or so to fix. Samsung will tell you they have no record of any problems. I love this refrigerator, but a major repair bill every couple of years is not what I expect when buying an appliance of this type. Beware!

Died within 2 months
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this refrigerator as a holiday / housewarming gift for my parents. It is not even 2 months old and it has died. All of the food they had was spoiled. Obviously YMMV but I find this to be highly unacceptable. Getting Best Buy to send a repair person has been problematic as well. When you purchase a ~ $2500 product from a retailer, you expect it to work, and you shouldn't have to jump through hoops if it dies in the first 6 months. I will update this review as the process continues.

Buyer Be Aware
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Please be aware of a problem that most Samsung products suffer from. Our three door refrigerator, that is only five years old, had one of its door handles break while trying to open it. The part, which holds the pin that holds the door handle, broke. The plastic part IS NOT REPLACEABLE. That means that if this part breaks, you have to buy another complete door. There is nothing wrong with the door other than this weak plastic part. The plastic part that failed probably costs a buck or two to make and maybe twelve dollars in a store, if it was sold, now costed us $300. It seems that during design and assembly, SAMSUNG has placed a PLASTIC part that is not repairable and the customer is responsible for their mistake. Custom services' response was that there was nothing they could do because my refrigerator was not under warranty. Since my fridge is five years old, a warranty wouldn't have helped anyway. Your concern should be that SAMSUNG's products have these parts in them. If your spending your hard earned money on SAMSUNG products, your depending on the SAMSUNG name and reputation to help its customers out when one of their products has failed. This is a design flaw by SAMSUNG. SAMSUNG should take responsibility for their mistakes.

Excellent refrigrator - Very Quiet
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As I was looking to buy this refrigrator, the current reviews confused me to a point that I almost went with another model. But then, I changed my mind and bought this one and I am pleased that I did. Every forum I saw people had complains about this refrigrator being noisy. I haven't faced any noise issues. Occassionally I will hear a fall of ice cube but thats about it. I love the flexible shelving on either side. My kids love the middle pull out drawer. Very convenient to pull out their drinks. The open door alarm is good to have. As annoying as it is, it makes up for the doors that need to be really shut. The one nuance I found was that the water flows out at an inward angle, but we can conveniently place a pitcher to fill in. The refrigrator makes a ton of ice. I was told to give the refrigrator 24 hours to cool, but within 4 hours the temperatures will all set. Really impressed with the purchase.

Excellent product but with problems
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Have it at home since 3 weeks - very nice design, easy to use-especially the middle drawer-great feature but there is a problem with the freezer drawer-hard to open due to accumulated ice on the tracks, condensation, most of the time doesn't close properly and needs additional force to close. Read a review with similar problems - is this common for this type of refrigerator. Still thinking to return or not. According Mr. Samsung this can be fixed with leveling and adjusting the wheels of the drawer but i am doubt about this.(no information in the manual regarding how to adjust the wheels of the freezer drawer.)

Not Happy
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The unit I thought I ordered and the one that was delivered were close but not right. Didn't notice until my old frig was on truck and door of house had been replaced. Delivery people were quite helpful, but that is where it ended. Went to store next day and had hard time getting anyone interested in my problem. Finally talked to manager and he gave me a choice keep what I have with price adjustment because it was now on sale or pay more to get the one I wanted. Because this was a price match for a frig I was going to buy from Lowes I wasn't about to pay more. So I keep the one that was delivered, now BB has the same unit on sale for $200.00 less than I paid. Only problem with the unit itself is the doors do not shut easily and the door alarm isn't loud enough. I have rental units and purchased several appliances from BB, this is the first time I purchased one for myself. BB sent survey regarding purchase, gave poor review and after two months I have not gotten a response.

Stay Away From Samsung “Appliances”
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchase the Samsung 28 CU 4 door with flex zone. The ice maker was noisy and gave us chopped ice when asking for cubes which is a small issue compared to what happened 6 months later. The ice maker began to malfunction sending watery ice cubes and the ice maker began to freeze over so there was no ice. Thank God I purchased an extended warranty. The geek squad came to my home 5 times, YES 5 times. They told me to try calling Samsung to see what they will do...of course Samsung told me I was a few days pass the 12 month warranty through them. Best Buy honored the extended warranty and TODAY 6/21/18, I chose my new replacement refrigerator (equivalent to what I paid). Keep in mind, although It was a few days beyond the one year, the ice maker was malfunctioning way before the 12 month manufacturer warranty! I spoke with several appliance agents who all stated stay away from Samsung “appliances”!! I ended up getting a LG. Take notice to some of the other reviews as there were the same malfunctioning issues!!

Excellent features but design flaws
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Returned less than 30 days. Problem was with the freezer humidity/condensation frozen on tracks, and all surrounding areas. Drawer hard to open. Adjusted temps did not help. Cost too much to have any problems and other reviews having difficulty with Samsung customer svc fixing this and other issues. Loved the design if it had worked properly. Ice maker loud and slow to create ice. Best Buy awesome with customer svc and replacement with non Samsung product.

Posted .cls23,
I'm very sorry to hear about your experience. Since condensation and frost are introduced to the freezer from outside air, not from the refrigerator as can be the case with conventional cooling systems, it's likely that what you experienced might have been corrected through proper leveling or adjusting the drawer rollers after installation.
We do appreciate the feedback and are glad you were pleased with the design of the RF28HMEDBSR.

Ice Maker Leaks / Does Not Work
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The best advice I read online was to not quickly review big ticket items until after you've actually experienced them for a few months. Such is the case with this refrigerator that I bought in December 2015. I love the styling and the drink drawer, which is great for sodas, cheese trays, salad bowls, and other large but "flat" items like pizza. The problem is the ice maker that's located in the fridge portion (not the bottom freezer itself). Mine has been leaking for 2 months and it can't keep store bought ice cold. After waving my fists at the fridge that was more expensive than my 1st car, I'm meeting a repairman this week and will likely be heading into a several hundred dollar repair as it looks like the ice maker will need to be replaced. This is absolutely ridiculous for an 18 month old $2,500+ refrigerator! I'm doubtful I'll buy another Samsung refrigerator ever again and encourage you to stock up on an extended warranty and home warranty if you decide to buy this model. Sad and frustrating.
