nice large expensive refrigerator. I bought this primarily for the ice maker and the amount of ice it dispenses. The ice maker last about 6 months before totally freezing up and not working. Options are to put hair dryer to ice maker for 30 minutes to defrost. So my $3000 fridge needs a hair appointment every 6 months. Just google samsung ice maker problems and you will see 1000's of disappointed customers.

I loved Samsung products, I have 12 different ones. This refrigerator is s LEMON, ice maker repeatedly breaks, Samsung no help! Fan sounds like a small airplane on your kitchen, again Samsung no help! If you want a good fridge, buy something else! Shame on samsung for not correcting the issues and to Best Buy for promoting it

Samsung has a horrible reputation for the ice makers and the refrigerator coils freezing over. When you pay $2000 for a refrigerator, in this millineum, you expect you shouldn't have to defrost you fridge every month, like you did in the 1960s!. If you enjoy that kind of throw-back, please buy this, if you expect your appliances to work reasonably well and get reasonable customer service, don't buy Samsung.

This refrigerator has a known issue with the ice maker which causes it to leak water down the inside of the door. Samsung refuses to admit there is an issue and if you are out of 12 month warranty, you pay the $600 bill. I purchased the 5 year from Best Buy and the repair was made.....unsuccessfully as the leak came back.

Our ice maker broke within 1 1/2 yrs of use and of course it's no longer under warranty. Frost build ups around the ice maker is primarily caused by poor design and below par materials being used. Until Samsung recognizes their own fault, I can never recommend buying their fridge products again due to extreme risk with no rewards.

Despite carefully measuring the opening in the cabinets and double-checking the dimensions of the unit, this device won't fit. After inspection, it is clear that both sides are horribly bowed. Placing a four foot level along either side verifies that they are simply rippled all the way up and down. There is at least 1/2 inch extra on each side of the unit. In addition, the specified measurement (35 3/4") is accurate across the top of the unit; however, the bottom has plastic vent covers that stick out on either side. The opening in my cabinets is 36 1/4" by 70", which I thought was a standard size since so many refrigerators advertise fit "36 inch" opening. Don't believe it! After searching on this problem online, it appears that bowed sides is not that uncommon. If a manufacturer is going to provide dimensions, then they should be a maximum size and not a nominal dimension, especially if it is going into a defined opening like cabinets. I'm going to have to go down a size and pay more on top of it to make sure that a unit fits.

Please, please do your research before buying this refrigerator! The ice maker is defective, and Samsung should issue a recall, but they are not. There is a class action suit against Samsung for this issue. This is not an instance of an appliance breaking down and needing a service call. This is the same problem countless people are having—which is not the same as the cost of home ownership. This is a flaw in the design and/or manufacturing, and a reputable company would stand behind their product. The issue we are having is a loud buzzing noise coming from the fan in the ice maker. Samsung’s solution was to unplug the unit and let it defrost. That worked—for a week—and each time the buzzing comes back, I start all over. After three weeks of this, a call back to Samsung and the solution is to call service— for $100 and then whatever the cost is to fix the appliance. I want to stress: this is not an isolated problem we are having. It is a wide-spread issue that owners of this appliance are facing. A refrigerator should last more than a couple of years!!

Do NOT purchase. Failed right at the 5-year mark. Ice Bin and Fridge Fan freeze over. Fridge only cools to 47 degrees. There are class-action lawsuits in the works for this model.

Within the first year ice maker went out and temperature sensors had to be replaced. Now 3 years later bad compressor and possible freon leak on upper evaporator. So far samsung cannot find a service center in my area although there is one 53186 that will come out here for $50.00 more

Nice fridge but about 10 months after we purchased, the ice maker stopped working. After 3 visits from a tech, they replaced the motherboard and it worked great for a year. The ice machine stopped working and it was now out of warranty.

I have owned the black stainless refrigerator for maybe 2 years and the ice maker has already frozen up and stopped producing ice. We had to use a hair dryer to melt it so it would work again. Also water drains into the bottom of the fridge under the coil select pantry drawer and then freezes into large sheets of ice. The wheel for the drawer will freeze into the ice so it makes it hard to open anymore. When we do get the drawer open large thick sheets of ice dump all over the hardwood floors and water comes spilling out everywhere!!! There is also water draining into the drawer with our food as well. Don’t buy!! This is a common problem for French door Samsung refrigerators and they do nothing about it.

The refrigerator is not bad, however, the ice maker was the worst ever and you do not get any support from Samsung at all!!

We bought this fridge in 2015. It actually worked very well, until earlier this year. Then everything went kaput. The temperature regulator went out, which caused the fan to freeze over. When the technician came out he told us that Samsung pushed out a "technical bulletin" requiring Samsung service technicians to REPLACE, not repair ice makers. The repair bill: $1700. For a fridge that Best Buy is currently selling new for $1800. Calls with Samsung proved entirely fruitless. As a longtime Samsung customer, I'm done. Off to buy another fridge, and won't be replacing any of the Samsung products in my home with new ones. Fridges should be expected to last more than 4 years, and shouldn't cost the cost of a new fridge to repair them. Wholly disappointed with Samsung, its customer service, and its product.

I've had this refrigerator 3 years this Dec. Ive had 5-6 icemaker problems and fan has gone out 2 times. I'm only glad that I purchased the extended warranty as they will be replacing the whole unit. Will not be buying the same brand.

We purchased this unit in December 2014. A couple months ago the fan started making noise. It gets really loud, like an RC plane landing in the kitchen. A little research let us know it was likely icing in the back panel. So many people with this issue in various models yet Samsung keeps using this design and Best Buy keeps selling them. Everyone is losing money but Samsung and their authorized repair techs! Third visit from the techs tomorrow for the same issue. Our old Whirlpool lived almost 15 years. We went with Samsung this time because our other appliances were Samsung and we wanted them all to match. Well, the microwave lasted 1 year before the panel went out. Now this. We're done! TVs and phones have been great but they need to stay in their lane -- and OUT of the kitchen!!

I am very regretful about not being cautious enough reading reviews about this refrigerator. The problem started when the refrigerator and freezer stopped temperature regulating and constantly stayed at a high temperature. After doing some research I found so many bad reviews and videos about the same issue with the fan cooling system and stories about needing to fix the fan every month. I had to disassemble the whole refrigerator and cooling system and take everything out, and realized that even cleaning the different compartments is difficult as removing them is unintuitive and hard to reach edges and corners. It was an extremely time consuming process.... terrible product.
