I'm not sure why I'm one of the only negative reviews, but I've had SOOOOOO many issues with this fridge. My refrigerator is only 3 years old and I have problems with this product every 3-4 months where I have to call our a maintenance repair guys to come out and repair it or order a "new part". It is crazy to me that such an expensive refrigerator has such issues. The most common one being that the fridge starts to make a loud humming noise and the back of the inside of the fridge ices over causing the fridge to no longer cool. This happened the week after I gave birth and we were stuck in the house with a newborn with a fridge full of now WASTED and RUINED food as well as spoiled breastmilk that I had pumped. It was devastating. The fact that this is a reoccurring issue and is now happening yet AGAIN is insane, I'm in complete shock that I'm dealing with this again and I still cannot receive a call back from the company. I am very disappointed in the quality of this product as well as the customer service I'd received from Samsung. I am running out of ways to contact the company to get a response and a way to make it right. Please tell me what I should do? What would you do in my shoes? Sincerely, Very Frustrated Mom who is sick of wasting valuable food destroyed by her Samsung fridge.

I'm so sorry to hear about your experience. Besides calling 800-SAMSUNG, other options are to submit a service request through Samsung's website or through the Customer Support link on the Samsung Home Appliances USA Facebook page.

      I hope this helps!

    Decent fridge, garbage ice maker

There's nothing special about this refrigerator. It is pretty functional as far as storage goes. But I would never have bought it if I knew the ice maker was going to be this bad. It freezes up every month or so. It's no easy effort to thaw it back to being able to make ice again. It has got to the point where we turned it off. Apparently it is a common problem among the Samsung line.

The delivery of our refrigerator was excellent. They had to remove the front door and take out our old one. They wore slippers and protected our carpet and were fast and professional. The refrigerator cooled to the set temperature quickly and is running very quietly so far, which were two concerns I had based on some other reviews. The space is amazing after a side by side fridge/freezer. I will update if things don't go well but so far we love it!

    Ice-maker issues

Bought this fridge on a Black Friday deal for $1400. Owned refrrigerator almost one year now Seemed like a good buy. Lots of room in fridge and freezer. Freezer drawer needs to be yanked hard some times to fully open. Biggest drawback is ice-maker. It spits out crushed ice at times even when you select cubes. Pieces of crushed ice fly out on the floor even if cup is tight against dispenser. Also ice pieces get trapped by dispenser door and leak water into dispense area. Nice lighting and storage options. Overall happy but if ice is something you use a lot of you might experience same issues.

Miy compressor broke defrosted all my food. One hour on phone with scripted call takers that keep saying sorry. Three days later repairman comes and says I need a new compressor and he will come back in three days with one. Spends two hours replacing compressor and then says freezer might break again because the leak could be inside the fridge and he can't fix that. Two weeks later freezer dies I lose food again. Hour on hold and repairman needs to return to confirm problem. Three days later he returns and says I need a new fridge. Hour on hold and advised to send in picture of receipt! Spoke with two "Senior" customer service reps after hour on hold who provided me with their emails to communicate directly to avoid hour hold time Elizabeth H and Christina J i emailed both twice and never received any reply. After repairman left he let the remainder of freon out of fridge so now my entire fridge stopped working. Hour on hold and advised I need to wait three days for a refund approval. That would mean I'm expected to wait four days with no fridge at all. Finally receive approval for a refund and advised I won't be getting taxes back and they are only doing this as a courtesy? Isn't that what a warranty is for? This went on for weeks their customer service is horrible. One time they called me as I was waiting for my refund approval then tell me they will put me through to a "senior" customer service rep and I was put on hold for 30 min and a rep answers and says can I help you? They called me!! No idea why I was called. They make a nice looking product but GOOD LUCK if it breaks!!!!!

    It's the small things...

After 14 months of ownership and three Samsung repairmen visits, I reluctantly give two stars...after spending nearly two grand on this the ice dispenser in the top door constantly leaks (the ice "chips" get stuck in the closure and leak down over the front), the ice is slow to replenish (good thing I got the one with the ice maker in the bottoms drawer), compressor growls when running (rep said this is "normal"), shelves are just at awkward heights (I know they are adjustable but still), and now it makes random noises all day like the noise you here right before the ice drops in the tray, and I have the refrig/freezer as cold as they can go (34degF and -8degF) and the frig stays at 40-42 degF according to multiple thermometers. For the price, the reputation of Samsung and their service department, and the available technology, this refrigerator was a huge disappointment. I should have stuck with Kenmore. I do like the overall look, the bright lights, amount of storage.

Design is wonderful, but if you need a good bit of ice do count much on it, we are a family of four and during summer ice maker is not enough for us, so I got an external ice maker to help with this, we bought this 3 years ago and is not working well already, and good luck trying to get a repair person from Best Buy, their customer service is horrible they change your schedule dates without your knowledge, i guess they think that everyone stays at home or are unemployed that you’ll be there whenever, then once they finally get someone at you home they send and installer, why do we need an installer when the fridge has been installed for 3 years already, i am still not been able to get anyone yet, please train your employees a bit better

We have had this for a couple of months after spending much more than it is now. The doors are slightly crooked but I didn't notice until after delivery guys left. Yesterday the freezer handle pulled off on one side. It is a little noisy but it has looked nice? Now I have read so many bad reviewd, I am glad I bought the BB warranty. Fingers crossed on its future (for these disposable items that used to last a decade or more!) Sad.

Looks good on paper, but generally disappointing

On paper this fridge looks good and that's why we bought it. It had strong reviews on both retailer sites and CR. Spec-wise it had the highest capacity i found of fridges in this size range. After starting to use it we found some major problems; one is based on the physical layout but at least partially based on bizarre design decisions by the manufacturer; a couple more are based on some kind of mechanical and/or electrical problem with the ice maker. the worst problem is that once in a while, randomly, the ice maker either shuts itself off or stops working. One time this happened the solution was as simple as turning it back on using the front control panel. A couple other times I had to press the reset button which is difficult to find inside the ice maker. One other time, after trying everything, it just randomly started working again after a few days. Not super confidence inspiring. Another design issue with the ice maker is that when you switch from water to ice, the dispenser always spews a little water (maybe an ounce) when you start it up to get ice. This is super annoying if like me you are dispensing the ice into your hand (the water bottle i want to put it in won't fit into the dispenser well...see below). So basically every time i get ice, i get a little cold water on my hand, and it's enough to make enough of a mess in the little tray in the dispenser area that i have to clean it up. The rest of the issues are just based on the manufacturer's physical design choices. it's tough to design a french door fridge with a door-mounted ice and water dispenser, and Samsung apparently didn't want to spend a lot of time on engineering an elegant solution. the dispenser cut-out area is bizarrely wide but not tall enough for a 1-liter sodastream bottle (see my comment about the ice-water leak above). Because of the width, a lot of interior door shelf space is wasted or non-optimal (there's a really skinny section of the shelf on the dispenser side that is barely usable). bottom line is they could have made both the dispenser and the door shelves more usable if they had just applied some more thought to the design. Another problem is the capacity of the ice maker. This is harder to address given the space constraints of the design and not something that really bothers me, but if you are used to a normal ice maker, i'm guessing this one produces about half the ice. Another problem is the water from the dispenser is never really cold, and there's only about a liter of semi-cold water in the system until it starts running at nearly room temperature. Finally, there's no butter compartment and no convenient place to put a butter dish. Sounds silly but we didn't realize how much we'd miss a dedicated in-door area for butter till we got this fridge.

Great looking refrigerator, ample space but makes all kinds of noises (humming, cracking, popping). My 16 yr old Kenmore refrigerator was never as loud as this one. Called Best Buy and was advised to call Samsung, called Samsung and they say the noise is normal (no resolution). If quiet is important to you, DON"T BUY THIS FRIDGE

The refrigerator itself has been great, but we have had trouble with the ice maker from the beginning, and still doesn’t work. If I could go back I would stay far away from this Samsung model. We did buy a warranty with it, so parts etc were covered, but here it is year three, and still not working, and the warranty is up. Trying to do deal Samsung directly has been nothing, but a nightmare.. beware. Of course this has just been ou experience with this model maybe you will have better luck.

Our Samsung RF28HFEDBSR/AA is now a year old. We have loved this fridge... never had a problem with the ice maker and/or dispenser as some have reported. The whole ice container is easy to remove and replace... in case you need a lot to fill pitchers etc at once. It is not silent when the ice is being made and dropped into the storage bin. We got the full on warranty when we purchased it just in case. It fits perfectly into what was formerly the space for our built-in older fridge, because it is only 70" high... and yet the interior at 28.1 cu ft is so much roomier than that fridge was. I'm very pleased with all the space in the freezer as well. Love having the refrigerator space full on the top, rather than the side-by-side. The interior lighting is also excellent, and so important! It is also easy to clean and easy to arrange tuck-away shelves to make space for either tall items or more "floor" space for shorter items. Gallon milk bottles can be stored in any number of places, including the door. Magnetic on the sides only, the SS front and sides are easy to clean and finger print resistant.

    BIG MISTAKE

I wish I had done more research before buying this fridge. It was expensive and broke just days after the one year warranty expired. First the ice maker went. It took a long time to get the part. After looking online many others complained of the same issue. When the repair company got the part in from Samsung to fix the ice maker..It was broken as well! They had to reorder it yet again. The tech who installed the part told us that he has seen the ice maker break in every Samsung fridge he's ever worked on. We had ice for a good month before I started hearing a loud noise coming from the fridge. I opened the fridge and the ice maker started pouring water out everywhere. This was Christmas week. The temperature display was blinking and it was hot in the fridge. We lost all if our food. We called Samsung and they have been giving us the run around for at least 2 weeks now. We are living with no fridge and it's been a real pain. If I could throw this piece of junk out right now I would. I am so mad at myself for not being more vigilant when it comes down to doing my research before buying this thing. Please if you read this do your homework and buy and extended warranty before purchasing an expensive appliance. Best buy has not helped one bit. I have purchased many appliances and other products from them over the years and this is the first time I've had a problem. AVOID this model and possibly the brand. I would give this a zero if that was an option.

I like the size and the look however, there is a clicking that has been happening since I bought this and it has been serviced a handful of times but they cant' seem to fix it. So, if you think you are getting a warranty, buyer beware! Nice guys come to fix it but they can't seem to fix it so I thought they'd replace it but because I call so often the system only recognizes it as 1 service ticket. I bought the unit over a year ago and have been calling since I got the unit. I don't understand the "system" I just call when it breaks. I asked the tech how the "system" works. Unfortunately, if they never fix it (i.e. you keep calling) then they will keep the ticket open thus considering it an open ticket. However, If you stop calling for 3 mo and then call back with the same problem, then they will generate a new ticket and thus are willing to work on fixing or replacing the unit. The need for multiple tickets on the same problem is what will make them fix the issue. Now that's just silly....

I love the black stainless finish. Mine came with two very small dents on the front, but I was compensated with a discount rather than returning the appliance and waiting for a replacement. The dents are hardly noticeable and I'm very happy with the fridge. Two things are a little different on this model. First, there doesn't seem to be a butter dish compartment normally found on the door. Second, the ice maker in the door does not give the option to pull out to dump the ice. There is, however, the option to add another ice maker in the freezer, but I opted out. I just periodically use the ice dispenser on the door and fill a bowl to keep in the freezer. I really like the fold up shelf to accommodate larger items. All in all, this is a really good buy!

Terrible Engineering! I had to go through three fridges in a matter of two months. I finally gave up on this brand. I spent a lot of time looking at reviews and consumer reports. The first fridge didn't cool properly, second fridge had warped steel doors from the manufacturer, third fridge had a very loud compressor fan and ice maker issues. Geek Squad came out and said that it was normal, the previous two fridges did not make this noise. The repair person then said well each one is different and Samsung doesn't take making each unit the same to heart. Geek Squad also showed up three days before the appointment and called me from my house when I was at work and said he needed to see the fridge right then and there.

What an upgrade to our previously older fridge! We love the french doors and the freezer on the bottom. This fridge keeps items cold and fresh. The temp display on the front for the freezer and fridge is a nice bonus. We love having the water and ice accessible on the front door. There's a little alarm that goes off to remind you if you leave the door(s) open too long. Highly recommend it!
