    I try to start positive so.....the sound is absolutely amazing. The low sleek design and cable management underneath is very nice, although it does bind up the cables pretty tight, but so far no problems there. The major problem I have with this soundbar is the input functionality. Connecting a bluetooth device or Xbox was simple and the 4K passthrough is nice. But every single time I turn it on to use my Apple TV through HDMI1 it changes to Digital Input within 30 seconds. Then it's like a game as to how many times I have to cycle through the sources back to HDMI1 that it will catch and display again. Other times, it will just plain freeze up and require a restart, and then repeat the process above once it actually turns on. Another problem has been the screen intermittently going black while still playing sound. This only lasts several seconds but still really annoying. I have tried different cables, different inputs, and even different Apple TV's with no success at overcoming the above issues. So overall I give it a 1/2 star for it's appearance/design and a 1/2 star for the sound quality.

      Thank you for purchasing the Samsung HW-K850 Soundbar with Dolby Atmos Technology. I am sorry to hear that you were not completely satisfied with its sound performance.

      The Subwoofer is responsible for low frequency sounds. Therefore, you will not actually hear audio such as speaking or sound effects coming from the subwoofer, only deep bass and low frequency vibrations.

      The best way to determine if the Subwoofer is working is to play a movie with plenty of explosions and then place your hand on the subwoofer. You will feel vibrations as the subwoofer receives and transmits the incoming audio from the content you are playing.

      You can try the following steps to increase the Subwoofer volume level:
      1.Press the S/W level button on the Sound bar remote. SW 00 will appear on the front display of the Sound bar.
      2.Press the + button above the S/W level button on the Sound bar remote to increase the S/W volume. It can be set from SW+01 to SW+06, the higher the number, the louder the bass.
      3.Press the S/W - button to decrease the S/W volume.
      4.Play some music or an action-packed movie to test.

      1) Connect the Soundbar to a network and upgrade the Soundbar to the latest firmware version.
      2) Check that Surround Mode is set to ON.
      3) Different effect modes (Standard > Music > Clear voice > Sports > Movie > Night mode) affect the levels of the surround speakers. Try a different effect to compensate for the source and room acoustics.
      4) Try toggling the DRC feature. Dynamic Range Control is a feature that affects the volume levels on Dolby Digital sources.
      5) Depending on the mode, the level of each speaker (including the Surround speakers) can be controlled individually.

    This was my second one of these. The first one didn't have enough volume to hear well enough. I exchanged it for another one, which was no better than the first. I am getting better volume from the TV itself, so I disconnected it and am currently not using it.

    Sound bar doesn't reproduce any sort of surround effect in our living room. (Could be the high ceiling, but regardless, it's unimpressive.) Not user-friendly, very basic (limited) documentation from Samsung. Will likely return this product.

      When the soundbar detects a Dolby Atmos audio stream, it goes into a preset mode to automatically select various settings to optimize the sound for Dolby Atmos.

      When the content is non-Atmos, the rear speakers may appear disengaged because the Soundbar may be in stereo mode (no surround effect).

      You can also try the below to improve rear speaker performance:
      1) Connect the Soundbar to a network and upgrade the Soundbar to the latest firmware version.
      2) Check that Surround Mode is set to ON.

    Sound not as Loud as expected

    When I tested the sound at my local Bestbuy store, the sound was loud and clear. So when I brought it home and hooked it up, the sound was not up to par. After a couple of weeks, the Arc source was non existent and I couldn't get it to come back. So I returned it.
