Please know that several factors could affect sound quality and we therefore encourage you to contact Samsung Customer Support.
Your source content will definitely affect output quality. In addition, a common misunderstanding and cause of mediocre sound is that customers are not placing the soundbar with the SAMSUNG logo facing up towards the ceiling. If you position the soundbar with the logo facing up, you will see the display/status panel and the speakers will be facing outward. (Refer to product photos on BestBuy.com and zoom in on the photos) If you have incorrectly placed the soundbar with the display side down and the SAMSUNG logo perpendicular to the floor, you will experience muffled or low quality sound because the unit will be resting on the speakers.

ARC stop working.

But this soundbar doesn’t give you what you paid for. ARC features stop working. It’s unacceptable. Atmos works but you feel Little effect because of 3.1.2 (front) channel. If you are looking a good simple Surround system, you better look something else. I’m back to Sonos.

Please know that the request for Dolby Atmos through ARC is not related to the Soundbar, but to the source device. Please make sure your TV can pass through Dolby Atmos signals to the Soundbar.
Alternatively, you can make your Soundbar play Dolby Atmos content by connecting a capable device -- such as a Samsung UHD Blu-ray player-- to the K950 via HDMI. When an Atmos soundtrack is played back from the source device, the Soundbar light will illuminate blue and display “Dolby ATMOS” on the Soundbar screen. Also please check the external device you are using as it may require additional steps to pass Dolby Atmos – for example, if using a Samsung UHD Blu-ray Player, the UHD Blu-ray Audio setting need to be changed to “Bitstream (Uncompressed)”.

Thank you for purchasing the Samsung HW-K850 Soundbar with Dolby Atmos Technology. I am sorry to hear that you did not experience the full potential of this system.
Here are a few things you can try to improve the rear speaker performance:
1) Connect the Soundbar to a network and upgrade the Soundbar to the latest firmware version.
2) Check that Surround Mode is set to ON.
3) Different effect modes (Standard > Music > Clear voice > Sports > Movie > Night mode) affect the levels of the surround speakers. Try a different effect to compensate for the source and room acoustics.
4) Try toggling the DRC feature. Dynamic Range Control is a feature that affects the volume levels on Dolby Digital sources.
5) Depending on the mode, the level of each speaker (including the Surround speakers) can be controlled individually.

Expected better from Samsung

The mid-tones were missing. Found a better solution, which Best Buy was great about facilitating. No complaints in how everything was handled. Just wouldn't recommend the product even though the price for sound bar + sub was attractive.

Best Buy messed this one up

The box was taped with BEST BUY INSPECTED tape, but clearly it was not done. When I went to the store they were unhelpful. It was a fail.

Horrible soundbar

The Atmos technology is a Joke. Returned it and bought the bose sountouch 300. What a difference. A bit more expensive but totally worth it. Samsung sound bars are a joke.

Not worth it.

Atmos is nice but ultimately you can not add surround speakers to this sound bar as none are compatible. No DTS and no Atmos over arc.

Hadn't watched a movie till about 6 months later. Subwoofer did not sync with soundbar. Best Buy did make it right and swapped it out for a SONY.

Disappointing Sound

Annoying

Please know that the HW-K850 has a dedicated Subwoofer level control on your remote.
