I messed around with the settings increased the sub gain to "+6" and mid to "+4" then I turned off Dolby digital on my Directv receiver and changed my Samsung 4k TV audio to "DTS Neo 2:5" and the bass kicked in and I am happy with it now. (Connected with optical cable)

I have tried several modes (Movie, Sport, etc). This wireless sub-has no option to be hard-wired, so may return. Seemed that for the price, the subwoofer should product some bark.

Great sound with great bass

Both work equally as well. No issues with lag. Sound is great and the bass is more than adequate when cranked up. Also pair with the wireless Samsung surround speakers for full audio experience. Very pleased.

Sometimes i have to max the volume to hear the voice of the movie. Audio quality is good but overall performance is not good for the specs and price compared to competitor.

Have you tried selecting the Clear Voice sound mode for enhancement of vocal clarity?
You can easily select the Clear Voice mode or any other preferred choice by pressing the Sound Mode button on your remote control, located just under the main button.

Good surround sound when adding SWA-8500S

Both the HW-M550 and SWA-8500S play well together. The digital input is the only way to go for best results.
