If you don’t want ice maker to make ice then this fridge is for you. It’s a known issue and yet Samsung denies it. Have replaced the ice maker 3 times and now at 5 years old the refrigerator is no longer working. And can’t get any body that wants to work on it.

DO NOT BUY...TROUBLE FROM DAY 1

After doing research and seeing great reviews on this frig when I purchased it (Feb 2014), we purchased it for $3k on SALE!. Well the problems started very quickly with the ice machine that is suppose to produce 10#s a day. Our ice machine, like many others froze over after a few months, since it was under warranty we had it repaired (replaced) thinking that our issue was resolved...WRONG. Since that time our ice maker was been repaired/replaced at least 4 more times with no resolution in the problem. I have pretty much given up on the ice maker, every now and then it drops some ice. Samsung knows that there is a problem with this design and the problem has not been fixed. Should be a recall. Now we are having ice form at the bottom of one of our produce trays. Do yourself a favor...DO NOT BUY THIS FRIG!

I purchased this 4 years ago thinking I was getting a quality product with a good warranty. Short story is 4 years later the refrigerant system stopped working. Samsung said although that is in warranty they cannot find anyone to repair it. I checked with local repair people and apparently Samsung has a reputation of being difficult to work with. Samsung just canceled my service request because they said no service people will agree to work on it. It's no good to have a warranty if they do not honor supporting the product. Highly disappointed and I do not recommend purchasing. I expected a lot more from a $3000 refrigerator.

The refrigerator has performed as said. Best feature is the organized shelves for the freezer instead of the drawer. However, experience with Best Buy was perhaps the most unprofessional I have ever dealt with. They have no clue as to what they have in inventory. After confirming 3 times, they called me 10 minutes before the delivery ( after confirming that they were Enroute) to tell me they no longer had any in inventory. They said I had to choose another product, but were unwilling to help at all in the up charge it would have cost me to purchase a similar product.

Refrigerator broke < 3 yrs after purchasing

We had high hopes on this fridge as it was unique and looks really promising so imagine our disappointment when it broke in less than 3 yrs of use. We bought it in July 2014 and the main refrigerator broke in April 2017. The freezer and chiller sections are still working, but the main refrigerator was not cooling at all. We called 2 technicians and both said that it was the sealed system and no one could fix it because the compressor is powered by butane and is flammable. We're calling Samsung for a refund/replacement.

    Great Huge Fridge

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

We've had this refrigerator for about eight months, and my wife and I love it. This refrigerator is absolutely massive. If you're considering buying it, make sure you have room first! We had to do a minor renovation of our kitchen in order to make it fit. Each of the single bottom sections is deceptively large. We use the left side as a freezer and the right side as a beverage cooler. The drawers and shelf in the freezer are really handy (much easier to get food out of than a giant chest at the bottom of a French door fridge#. We upgraded from a side-by-side setup, and this little freezer section can hold as much #or more# as our old side-by-side since there isn't a massive ice maker taking up a ton of room. The beverage cooler section is never full, we simply don't have enough beverages to cool #pops, beers, etc..#. We sometimes put meat in there that we don't want to hard-freeze before we use it. The meat usually freezes #the beverage section is kept at about 32 degrees Fahrenheit), but it defrosts a lot faster than a hard freeze. The main refrigerator space is huge. We've become lazy with our arrangement of food in the fridge because there's so much space in there. We don't stack anything anymore, and the switchable shelves allow us to store tall things in various locations. Oh yeah, and the thing is really good looking.

OMG - broken after 6 months

We bought this as an appliance refresh from best buy - everything in the house. We have had an over 50% failure rate on appliances and by far Samsung was the worst experience. LG sent out a technician right away, and best buy replaced the washing machine when it stopped working. For Samsung after a couple weeks the lettering started to come off - oh no. After about 5 months with this product the ice maker stopped working. I called about 4 times over 2 weeks and each time they wanted me to defrost the fridge and go through the troubleshooting steps. Seriously - defrost after owning 6 months? Each time I did this and it still did not work, nor could I take the ice tray out. It is a defective design - and poorly made and terrible customer service. Stay away for poorly made and designed products and I have found that pretty much every appliance made by anyone nowadays is simply poorly made with poor components and poor engineering. I have multiple rental units and it seems that whatever I buy from whatever vendor simply does not last.

    Beware Samsung customer support

I really loved this refrigerator at first, due to it's expansive volume, sleek look, and energy efficiency. The refrigerator worked great for a few months, then the icemaker started jamming because the automatic defroster quit working. This was a nuisance, but then the temperature of the refrigerator compartment rose from 34F to 56F, prompting a request to SAMSUNG warranty support. I've got an IT degree, but it still took nearly two hours and chat support to log the service request on their website. Then it took nearly a week for the repairman to arrive. He determined it needed a control board, and said he would be back in a week when it came in. Next visit, he replaced the board and said the refrigerator would cool down within 24 hours. 24 hours later, same 56F, so I called again. Third visit, the repairman determined there was a leak in the coolant line. Apparently its propane, so it is not something which SAMSUNG considered field-repairable. He said they would have to replace the refrigerator entirely and they would call me within 24 hours to arrange delivery. 48 hours later, I called them. They said nothing had been done because they wanted a copy of my receipt first. Once I faxed that in, they would review the account and get back to me within 2-3 business days. 5 days later because of the weekend, they called and left a message for me to call them back. I called, was transferred six times during 40 minutes, including once to a Canadian office which could not access my American record, and was ultimately told they had no record of an exchange request and they didn't think the number I was given by the service technician was valid. This prompted two more phone calls, during which the SAMSUNG representative finally took some more information and told me they would get back to me within 2-3 business days to authorize the exchange. So as of today, I'm still without a working refrigerator and don't know how soon I'll have another, after spending $3600 on this refrigerator and getting "Executive Level Customer Service" from SAMSUNG. As I said, beware SAMSUNG warranty support. If nothing else, this will ensure I use the Best Buy Geek Squad Protection Plan in the future. Maybe that would have saved me this headache!

    Outstanding Fridge

I purposely waited 8 months after purchasing this fridge to write a review to make sure I gave it enough time to be fair. I absolutely love this thing. It has tons of room and is near silent when it is cooling. The flex zone at the bottom is perfect for childrens snacks for easy access and the freezer on the other side is organized in a way that you can still fit a decent amount of frozen goods in it. The only downside I have noticed is the ice cubes all freeze together sometimes making it difficult to use the dispenser. The work-around is to completely empty it every few weeks and allow it to make new which really isn't a big deal for us.

Loved the thought of 4 doors and looked great, other than the little dwarf inside the ice maker that had to chip away at a glacier and finally filled your glass with ice at a glacial pace. Oh well, otherwise seemed to be great until after 4 months the top quit cooling. Almost went postal after experiencing the lovely Samsung Tech Support but finally got a local technician out who said it was unrepairable, and also mentioned Samsung was having compressor issues and to pick something else if you got your money back. Would suggest you think twice about this product or you will likely be having this issue eventually, hopefully during the warranty.
