Samsung 5300 60 Hz Smart TV, very nice set!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The picture is very clear and crisp, putting the stand on however was a bit of a challenge. You need to have a long Philips screw driver to make the screws fit into it. I purchased this on sale for $469. I then exchanged it for the 5500 model because it went on sale for $479, and it is well worth the small $10 dollar upgrade. The 5500 model has more connections, although both have ethernet ports, and the 5500 model weighs less, looks more discrete, has a swivel stand, and includes a universal remote versus the standard that comes with the 5300 model. The universal remote has quick button access to Netflix and Amazon while the standard does not, and also includes a night glow button. The universal remote syncs with your cable box quickly revealing different viewing options of all the shows playing with the cable guide-shows what's on and how long some of the shows have left before ending. Both models have equally great picture, though I adjusted my settings a bit, lowering brightness, changing the red and green, it gave it an even better crisp picture. Both models are edge lit LED screens meaning that it balances light more to the center of the screen versus a backlit screen which is equally distributing the brightness throughout the screen. Edge lit is supposedly more efficient and eco friendly. Ask a sales associate to describe the differences, to me there really isn't much in viewing, close to the same. The 5300 does not have an eco sensor built in to it as does the 5500, so it won't automatically adjust brightness for you when viewing in different room lit settings, you'll have to adjust it yourself. I don't think it has an ARC HDMI outlet, so I'm not sure that you'll be able to connect a sound bar, check with a sales associate about that. The sound is decent enough for television speakers, not that bad, pretty good. If this 5300 model is on sale and the 5500 is not, purchase it, it's still a great television beating out most of the other brands even without the other toots and whistles. The internet connection works very efficiently, but if you are looking for tons and tons of apps to utilize, it's not a Roku. I mainly just use Netflix, and for me that worked pretty good, it's not fast signing on, but I was streaming Dr. Who just fine :)

Sound isn't very good, picture is average
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Good for the price paid, Black Friday rates. Wouldn't spend the full amount for this outside Black Friday. Average quality when it comes to HD LED TVs.

Just what we were looking for
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We were shopping for a quality LED smart TV with built-in wifi (no adapters hanging off the side of the TV) and I think we found it! The picture and sound are excellent! It streams HD movies and shows from Netflix flawlessly. Setup was quite easy and the menus are easy to use. It's nice having a TV with nothing but a power cord connected to it! Between Netflix, Hulu, Youtube, and media stored on computers on our wireless network, we never run out of content. At first, the TV would ask for the wireless network info at every startup. But since the last software update, everything is working great. Would recommend

Item was broken
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The item was picked up from Best Buy by my wife and daughters. A store employee loaded the box for them. When the item was unloaded (45 min) later. The front screen had been damaged and there was a hole in the box. The store would not return or replace the item so mine does not work.

Middle of the road
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The 40 inch UN40EH5300FXZA Samsung TV is a middle of the road product. It offers 3 HDMI ports, built in wifi streaming features and reasonable price. I selected this TV for: 1) good sound quality for those not wanting to connect a separate surround sound system. NOTE that the higher end and thinner Samsung TVs (6300 model I think) I saw in the store had terrible sound. They made them so thin that there was no room for good speakers I think. 2) middle of the road picture for the price. Certainly the picture is better than the cheap brands such as Westinghouse, etc. The black performance is not as good as I would like though. I believe the black performance is as good as most of the other TV in this price range and even some more expensive ones. I do know that my parents bought a very Sony LCD many years ago and it has stellar black performance. 3) the built in wifi and streaming Comments about my purchase: A) I'm a very light TV and movie watcher so I didn't need the best product but I am disappointed with the black performance. I moved from a picture tube TV and my friends told me that with an LCD you need to switch modes from standard to movies, etc to get good black performance. It is true that this helps. I suppose that many people might not even notice the black performance on this TV because it's not terrible. I noticed because my parents have a very old but high end Sony LCD TV which is excellent. They have never made any picture adjustments (movie mode, etc) and everything looks stellar on it. B) Turn off ECO mode and the picture gets MUCH better in the standard mode. ECO is terrible. Also read how to tweak the picture settings because you can get a much better black performance and picture in general I found. Why don't they do this out of the box I have no idea. I understand why they have ECO turned on but why not make the picture look great. C) I saw a similar priced Sony TV in the store after my purchase that looked really good. Honestly the only TVs that I saw in the store with a better picture were the Sonys and maybe some of the very high end ones. D) The wifi internet inside the TV is pretty good but I could have done just fine connecting my smartphone or other device to get the same. Roku or other device. The Samsung smart TV takes a minute to boot up. I bet a stand alone product might work faster. If I were to purchase again I would focus less on the wifi and just get a plain TV. E) The TV initial setup is easy and quick. When you want to do more it is not always straight forward. The delete channels is burried under the Smart TV feature which makes no sense. You will not find delete channels under the TV tools or other settings. Bottom line is most people would be happy with this product. If you want very good picture look elsewhere. Try Sony.

Love, love, love this TV
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This television was so easy to hook up, easy to connect to the internet and has a terrific picture and sounds great. The picture even adjusts automatically to the lighting in the room. I can't wait for another one of my old televisions to die so that I can get another one of these.

Great price witha great picture
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had tried several other smart tvs through Best Buy, but returned one because it didn't have adequate hookups on the back and the other because the wifi connection kept going out. I was ready to spend about $200 more on another one, when I found this one at $529. I thought the price was wrong, so I asked and when I found out $529 was right - I bought it. I couldn't be more pleased. Easy to use - my 4-year old can get Netflix going all by herself. Great features and looks great too.

Love this TV!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I absolutely love this tv. I haven’t had it long so I can’t tell you about the life span of it. It has a beautiful picture, easy to set up and connect to the internet, LOVE the Smart Hub. We bought this for our bedroom such that we can watch movies while laying in bed without having to put a blu-ray player or cable box on our dresser. It makes me want to upgrade the tv in the living room just for these features! The remote lights up too, making it easier to change things in the dark. Definitely puts regular tv’s to shame. Overall, it was well money spent and I am extremely pleased.

Great TV
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I just purchased this TV last night after doing a lot of research online. For a Smart TV this is a good price. It was easy to set up all by myself and took about 10 minutes. The picture quality looks great so far, and I love all the built in apps.

Good TV for a moderate size TV Room.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This Samsung 40 inch Smart TV was the right size for our modest TV Room. Setting it up with ATT UVERSE worked like clockwork. I had the router SSID and Key number written down prior to setting it up. I did made adjustments to the factory default settings. The remote is vey user friendly. I am extremely pleased with the color and sound on this TV. This is my first Smart TV and I highly recommend that you check this model out if you are shopping for a Smart TV.

Good Picture Quality but POOR Smart TV
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I did extensive research before buying my TV. I have a infant kid and wanted a TV which can play cartoons and rhymes from internet. Primarily I wanted to watch youtube vedios on TV seamlessly. I was in a dilemma whether to : 1). Buy a "normal" LED TV and connect to internet using laptop and buy another box like Roku3 to make it SMART TV OR 2). Buy Samsung SMART TV which has the Apps inbuilt. After quite some consideration, I went for the later option and bought this TV. I am pretty much satisfied with this TV in terms of Picture Quality and Sound. Picture quality is excellent and Sound is Ok for normal household. What I am not satisfied is with the Youtube App in this TV. It seems Samsung stopped the regular Youtube App and started to provide browser based "Link to Youtube App". This App DOES NOT works for me !! At All !! Its a pain to even watch a simple video in this app. Basically the TV is short of memory (RAM) and this Youtube App can not stream videos seamlessly ... If you do fullscreen or try to Watch HD quality the App crashes at most times. I contacted Samsung and they are asking me to contact Youtube to get this App fixed. That's not very professional !! Nevertheless, a few more important information regarding this TV : USB and HDMI connections are enough and good. I am using Logitech K400 wireless keyboard with this TV, keyboard and mouse works pretty well. Using Allshare I can share any video (Non MKV) from Laptop to the TV flawlessly (You must have a good home wifi). Also using the Android Mobile App for Samsung TV, I can stream any Youtube video or mobile videos from the phone to this TV. That's how I am watching Youtube in this TV now and it works perfectly !! Hope this helps you to take the right decision !! Cheers !!

My first Smart TV
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I looked at dozens of TVs before settling on this one. I wanted a 40" to fit conveniently in my studio. I was interested in a Smart TV so I could stream some movies, watch YouTube art lessons, and perhaps look at facebook and email. I waited until after Christmas, so I was able to take advantage of some sales, so I think I got this for a good price at less than $500.00. I know there will probably be a newer model soon, but I didn't want to go over that $500.00 mark, and from the reviews and from word-of-mouth, I understand that the Samsungs are good TVs. I brought the TV home yesterday (can't believe how light these things have gotten!!) I attached the stand, connected it to my cable and blu-ray player, then connected to internet. I had no trouble connecting to my wireless net, although it sure would have been easier to have a keyboard. But it found my network easily and connected right away. It did take a while to load program, and update, but then it worked fine. I have used Netflix and Amazon Prime, and connected to Pandora. I'm still playing with finding other features I want to use. The picture is beautiful and the sound is ok... although I'm no expert. I have been playing with the different picture and sound settings and will continue to fine tune to my preferences. All in all I think the positive reviews i read that lead me to purchasing this TV were spot-on, and I'd recommend this TV to anyone.
