    Pros and Cons

Let me start by saying that I was really excited to get this TV and my intentions were to use it mainly as a computer monitor and for gaming. 1st off this TV looks amazing with my PS4. I have seen people write and say that it does not improve the way games look. That is not true. Games look even better. #2 on my PC it looks bad. I have read many reviews and basically you need about a $1000 graphics card for it to look good. When hooked up to my PC it looks pixelated. Movies however look good only blue ray or HD quality. If you watch a low resolution movie it makes it look worse. Yes worse. Netflix works great and the other extras like screen mirror work awesome as well. Overall for the price it looks great for PS4 and Xbox one gaming but if you plan to hook it up to a PC you are better off with a 1080p resolution TV or monitor. My 1080p TV looks 100 times better than the 4k when hooked up to my PC. And yes I have a $300 dollar HDMI graphics card with 4gb dedicated to graphics and still it is not good enough. Hope this helps.

    Nice 4k TV

Wanted to get a 40" 4k TV to replaced my HDTV. After some reseach decide to get this tv since it in my price range. Setup is easy and quick. The longest time is when it need to scan all the available channels. Picture looks better than my old tv on the SD and HD channels. Sharper and clearer. Need to calibrate the picture setting to fit my viewing. Sound surprising is clear and loud. It sound even better after i change some of the sound settings. Smart functions work fine and i like that i can even connect the Wi-Fi to my 5G network instead of just the 2.4 wireless. My kids download one of the free games from the Smart Hub and seemed to enjoy it. Remote takes a little time to get used to. I wish it still has the number keypad on it instead of moving it to the display on the tv screen.

Best TV I have ever owned

This is the best HD TV I have ever owned. The Ultra High Definition Resolution shows up crisp and clear. I just watched Top Gun streamed from HBO Go and it looked fantastic. I don't use the internal speakers so cannot comment on that. However, the number of inputs and outputs is enough to satisfy most anyone. I use an optical wire connected to my surround sound receiver and it sounds great. No complaints here. I especially like all of the apps that are built right in - HBO Go, Netflix, Amazon, etc. The UHD Evolution Kit (sold separately) means that I will be able to update the TVs hardware for years to come. I was considering buying something cheaper and perhaps bigger but am glad I didn't. Paying more for the latest in TV technology is in my opinion worth it. I have always had good luck with Samsung Products. I would highly recommend this television.

Latest technology for an affordable price

Great picture (might take a little fiddling), AMAZING apps/Smart hub features. Cool feature where it can control your STB (in my case DirectTV) and allows you to bring up the guide through the TV's interface, use the voice control to change the channel, etc. Remote takes a little getting used to but i like it, it works similar to a Wii controller with the pointer going wherever you aim it. This TV impressed me with all of its functionality and how seamlessly you can switch between each source/app or watch things simultaneously.

    Nearly Plasma - 2 cons

My previous TV was a 50" Sammy DLP bought 8 years ago. Compared to that the contrast, brightness and detail is amazing. You feel like the screen is a window into another room instead of a television. There are a couple of nits. The worst is the remote. OMG I want to go to the top floor and throw it out. Fortunately this TV is compatible with other Sammy remotes, so if you already have a universal, or want to pay $20 for a full featured Sammy remote you should! You would then get the colored buttons and direct channel numbers. The other issue, and I totally see why the 1 star reviewer complains, is that the TV is so detailed that it removes the "Hollywood glow." You notice every change in color and focus tracking change. Sometimes instead of feeling like you are watching a movie, you feel as if you are watching a documentary about the making of. This makes composites (i.e. green screen) shots far too obvious or you feel as if you can tell where every single light in the set was placed and it pulls you out of the movie. This could very well be that I have yet to completely calibrate the TV, but I'm so close I'm scared of changing anything any more. I have tried removing all the over-zealous detail settings I could find, but honestly I don't feel the TV is over processing, rather I feel as if I'm looking at the film master before final editing and processing and catching oversights that made it onto the disk.

Best TV I ever owned. I wanted a 32 " TV, tried 2 Samsung's and a Sony and was not happy with them. Decided that the manufacturers have abandoned smaller screens to the low end market so I moved some furniture to make room for a 40". This is a great TV once you get the settings to your taste and the smart remote is also fantastic. To the previous reviewer who found the picture unnatural and returned it: you didn't go far enough in the settings. It comes factory set with Auto Motion Plus set to "standard"... This is bad and gives the " soap opera effect" that he described.... TURN IT OFF...unless you are watching sports. other than that the only settings I adjusted were backlight and brightness and it is clear and natural and addictive. Especially at current black Friday pricing this is incredible.

    Amazing TV, Great Price!

I'm an avid gamer and I like having a large screen. I was using a Sharp Aquos 42" for years but I needed better. I started looking at the 28" Ultra high resolution monitors but they were going for $500+! Then I saw this deal at best buy, $599 for a 40" 4k tv. Thought WOW, maybe this is my answer. Got it home, plugged it in to my gaming rig and got it all setup and the picture is A M A Z I N G. Not all games will use the full capability, however some will support that high resolution this tv delivers and it looks amazing. Can't wait to get my flight simulator hooked back up. Might have to go and buy 2 more of these TV's. Bottom line, you can't go wrong with this TV. I game on it then watch amazon prime tv on it for movies, couldn't be happier.

Fantastic TV but replace your HDMI cables!

I have been waiting for a 4K TV small enough for the bedroom. This TV is perfect! But, you need to replace your HDMI cables with ones that support 4K. Older cables were rated for 1080p. With the older cables, both cable channels and my upscaling Blu Ray looked OK. There was a HUGE improvement when I changed to Samsung's 4K HDMI cables (CY-SHC1020D) which are rated for 12.3 Gbps!

This is my first smart TV. It is great! The picture is very clear and the sound is excellent. The set-up was simple which was a concern for me. You can play games and watch YouTube on your TV! Very nice!

i bought this during black friday and had to wait a little bit to get it but it was definitely worth the wait. i was replacing a 7 year old 720p 42" Samsung Plasma and the difference is amazing. The picture really pops and everything is extremely vivid. I agree with gripes about the remote. it's not the easiest thing to use but it works for now. I mainly use this for gaming. Try adjusting the picture to your liking. we can all put our own preferences up here but everyone has their own tastes as to what they like to watch. This was very easy to mount and setup. for a 40" set it's pretty light. It's not what i'd call razor thin but it's thinner than the plasma set that i had. Plenty of HDMI ports and the built in wi-fi works great.

Previous reviewer mistakenly claims this is not a 4-K....It certainly is......The resolution is 2160 x 3840 which equals over 8 million pixels. High def TVs have over 2 million pixels which is 4 times less than the 4k.

    number of pixel 1080p =1920 x1080 = 2,073,66 4k = 3,840 x 2,160 = 7,910,400 Therefore, 4K has 4 times the number of pixel than 1080P. 4K reviewer, please take note. Thanks.

The pictures is great. The only things I don't like is the remote control. It is sensitive, however, it is quite small. You can't feel it when you hold it. Therefore, you can easily lost your control. Beside that the TV is outstanding. (heavy for a small size tv) ... Great fit for a bedroom. Not many 4K source out there for testing the power of it.

    Ehhhhh Not bad

Coming from a 42" Samsung Plasma, this 40" was a bit small for my liking. First off, Best Buy did not have a movie sample for the display model. I bought this based on the sales rep. He was pretty helpful. Initial impression, was that this TV felt cheap right out the box. The case and the back panel flexed like crazy while handling it. It's definitely fragile, but who cares if the picture quality makes up for it. Although I was watching with 1080p bd, I wasn't too impressed. Images was to bright for my liking and the 60hz cfr is just so darn noticeable with fast moving scenes. Doesn't quite compare to plasma, but I'm getting with the new age. I had it for a few days to see if it would wear on me but, it just doesn't quite cut it for me. I ended up going with the Sony xbr-49 850b. I had both monitors on the same bd and honestly hands down the Sony wins. It's does help that it's 120 hz cfr. The over image quality is more realistic and the overall a solid build in comparison to Samsung. I mean for $599 2 days after Black Friday, this TV is good for that price. But if you appreciate quality and will end up using the TV for a while, I recommend upgrading to the Sony.

IT TOOK A WHILE TO SET UP. COULD NOT GET THE REMOTE TO WORK. HAD TO USE THE DONGLE IN BACK. MY SON GOT THE REMOTE TO WORK. WHEN PULLING OUT OF BOX, IT JUST LOOKED THICKER THAN I THOUGHT OR HOPED. ALITTLE HEAVY TO BE A SMALL TV. WANTED TO HANG ON WALL, BUT NOT SURE NOW BECAUSE ITS A FAT BOY...BUT IT DOES HAVE A NICE PICTURE. REMOTE IS SMALL AND SLICK TO HOLD, HOPE IT WILL LAST.
