I'm still going to recommend the TV on the basis that you plan ahead and buy surround sound.

We ignored the prompt to sign up with Samsung; I think that’s where the ads come from that people complain about. We’re essentially just using it as a monitor hooked up to our Apple TV and running the AT&T Stream app and it works great. Good picture and decent sound.

I must need better directions than I can locate in online manual as can't find closed caption, sleep timer, etc. I have a different model Samsung in my den and it is very easy to operate.

Please know that you can turn your Closed Captions on/off and change the settings such as separating it from the broadcast screen, font color, background color, size, position, language, etc. by pressing the home button and then heading to Settings > General > Accessibility > Caption Settings.
To access the sleep timer, press the home button, then select Settings>General >System Manager>Time Sleep>Timer.

Excellent pic but sound quality a little lacking

Very limited audio settings and equalizer didn't help much. You would need a surround sound system to get great sound.

Bad audio that cannot be adjusted.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought the AU8000 43" because I needed 3 HDMI ports, otherwise I would have just purchased another TU7000. The audio on this unit is so bad and there is no way for me to adjust. The EQ menu option is greyed out perhaps will be available with a future software update. The remote has a learning curve but will get used to it I'm sure. Picture is okay and is indistinguishable with the TU7000. Get the TU7000 unless you really need the 3rd HDMI port.

Thank you for purchasing the 43" AU8000 Crystal UHD TV and for sharing your feedback regarding the sound and image quality. There are several settings you can adjust to suit your personal sound preferences.
Change the Sound Mode by going to: Settings > Sound > Sound Mode
You can also customize the sound with Expert Settings by going to: Settings > Sound > Expert Settings
If the picture you are seeing out-of-the-box are not to your liking, there are several picture settings you may want to try adjusting.
You can select the Picture Mode that provides the best viewing experience. Go to Home > Settings > Picture > Picture Mode
1) Standard: Is the default mode suitable for general viewing environments.
2) Natural: Reduces eye strain for a comfortable viewing experience.
3) Movie: Is suitable for watching TV or movies in a dark room.
4) Dynamic: Makes the picture brighter and clearer in bright viewing environments.
You can also go to: Settings > Picture > Expert Settings > to manually fine tune your image.

It takes 3 - 5 seconds to process an instruction. Plugged in a $150 TCL TV and it processes immediately. Contacted Best Buy who did nothing but pass me off to Samsung who acted like they couldn't hear me on the phone. I'd would give 0 stars if poosible. Furious.
