Crash and burns itself

I will start by saying the picture quality, refresh rate and overall build quality was nice but buyer beware there’s been loads of these monitors reported to burn out and fail after the warranty period and I was fortunate enough that mine died and would not power on within the first two weeks so I was able to return it. It’s unfortunate that there’s not any options for this wide of a screen by any other manufacturer but this is by far the worst experience I’ve had out of any tech product in my lifetime

Purchased Feb 14 2025 and it arrived Feb 18 of 2025, worked fine on the 4 days of weekend i used it, then comes around next weekend it wouldn't even turn on, called best buy and they said their 14-15 day return policy was over and i was stuck calling samsung for a fix. if it even samsung honor their warranty. I would avoid any samsung 49" monitor and go with Asus or any other brand. and I would honestly not buy any other expensive product from best buy due to their worst return policy window.

The Ultimate Ultra-Wide Gaming Experience

The Samsung 49” Odyssey OLED G9 is hands down one of the most impressive monitors I’ve ever used. If you’re looking to take your gaming or productivity setup to the next level, this display delivers across the board.
Display Quality:
The OLED panel offers rich, deep blacks and stunning color accuracy right out of the box. With a Dual QHD resolution (5120x1440), everything looks incredibly sharp and immersive, especially in games that support ultra-wide resolutions. The 1000R curvature perfectly matches your field of view and creates a wraparound effect that pulls you into whatever you’re doing.
Performance:
With a 240Hz refresh rate and 1ms response time, this monitor is a beast for competitive gaming. Fast-paced shooters, racing games, and action titles run smoothly and responsively, with no noticeable input lag or ghosting. It also supports both FreeSync Premium Pro and G-Sync compatibility, ensuring tear-free gameplay regardless of your graphics card.
HDR and Brightness:
The HDR1000 support is truly impressive. HDR content looks vibrant and realistic, with bright highlights and detailed shadows. It’s ideal for both gaming and watching movies or streaming high-quality video content.
Build and Design:
The monitor is sleek and futuristic with a clean matte black finish and a sturdy, adjustable stand. It also features subtle RGB lighting on the back, which adds a premium touch without being too flashy. The build quality feels solid and well-made.
Connectivity:
With dual HDMI 2.1 ports, DisplayPort, and multiple USB ports, it has all the modern connections you’d expect. The HDMI 2.1 inputs are especially useful for pairing with the latest consoles like the PS5 or Xbox Series X.
Final Thoughts:
The Samsung Odyssey OLED G9 is a premium monitor built for gamers and creators who demand the best. While it’s definitely an investment, the performance, visual quality, and ultra-wide immersion make it well worth the price. Whether you’re playing AAA titles, editing content, or multitasking across several windows, this monitor handles it all effortlessly.

The Monitor Officer Workers Don't Know They Need

I have this monitor at home and at work. My job involves looking at extensively wide spreadsheets. They fit on this screen which makes my workflow more efficient. Paring this screen with Microsoft PowerToys FancyZones allows for a versatile workspace that is much easier than traversing two screens.
Setup was also easy and simplistic. I did have to purchase a more heavy duty mounting arm, but it was well worth it. I have viewed movies on this screen as well and it does not disappoint.
The only problem I have is one tiny red pixel is burning on the left side of the screen. I just haven't gotten around to putting a return request in, but I will definitely switch it out for the same monitor.
While I know the price point is a little high, this screen is a must for office workers that don't even know they need it. I would definitely recommend this monitor to friends and family.

The Samsung 49" Odyssey G9 1000R Curved Dual QHD Monitor does exactly what it is built for: an immersive, high-performance display.
Display and Performance
With a 49-inch curved 1000R panel, it matches the natural field of view and pulls you into games or multitasking setups. The dual QHD resolution (5120x1440) provides the screen real estate of two 27-inch QHD monitors without bezels in between. At 240Hz with a 1ms response time, it delivers smooth, responsive gameplay for competitive use.
Design
The ultra-wide 32:9 aspect ratio is ideal for multitasking or simulation gaming. The curve enhances immersion, though it may feel overwhelming in small spaces. Build quality is solid, and it has a futuristic aesthetic.
Does as Advertised
Yes. It provides ultra-wide, dual QHD, curved, fast refresh gaming as promised. HDR and G-Sync/FreeSync support ensure visual fidelity.
Limitations
It is large and heavy, requiring significant desk depth. Graphics cards need to be powerful to run games at full resolution and refresh rate. Price is higher than standard monitors, but the performance matches the premium.
Summary
The Odyssey G9 does as advertised—offering a massive, immersive, high-refresh ultra-wide experience. It is best suited for users who want cutting-edge performance and are prepared to power and house such a display.

WOW. The resolution is INSANE. Works with everything you need. Takes the place of 3 monitors in one. The size is way larger than expected. I didn't expect my desk to bow under the pressure and weight of the stand but it did. It's still standing but long term - going to have to get a much wider desk to comfortably fit this monitor. It's amazing. Works great for video editing, game play, advertisement development, and even movie night. The curvature takes some getting used to but it's not a big deal and you'll adapt quickly. It's truly one of a kind. Hated it at first, grew to love it more than all the countless connections of 2 and even 3 monitors.

The Samsung 1000R curved monitor offers an immersive viewing experience with its deep 1000R curve, making it ideal for gaming and content creation. The curved design wraps around your field of vision, enhancing the sense of depth and focus. The image quality is sharp, with vibrant colors and smooth motion, thanks to its high refresh rate and low response time. It also features a sleek, modern design that fits well in most setups. However, its size and curve might take some time to get used to if you're transitioning from a flat panel. Overall, it's a great choice for those looking for a more immersive display. This display is transformative. Ita a powerhouse when I work and when i play. Ive been in tech for over twenty years and this is by far one of my favorite additions. Only thing for some reason mine didnt come with a power cord.

Easy to ise and set up. When it first arrived, the box was just a little too big, but once I set it up and put it to work it has a great screen and easy set up. I was able to open several different documents and review at the same time with complete clarity.

I have had this monitor for about a month now. I use it more for work so I cannot speak to its gaming capabilities. I converted from a primary laptop monitor with a 27" second monitor. The screen space has improved my efficiency moving through documents and I am experiencing less head movement which was my goal. I got a great price and it is exceeding my expectations. Keep in mind that the device does not have internal speakers so take that into consideration when purchasing. I don't think that is an issue for the gamer.

The HDR and widescreen make games like diablo IV a new experience. I should have upgraded a while ago. The large curved screen is very immersive and I'm getting more work done on my video game production project too.

Just happen to be in my local BestBuy and caught this monitor on sale for $799. I replaced my old setup that was a 32" Samsung as my main and a 24" monitor in portrait mode. Was worried about the limited real-estate on my desk, but the 49" Samsung has actually allowed me to clean up my area. Very happy with the adjustability of the monitor stand and the features. Still learning what I can do with the monitor, but everything has looked amazing from work to gaming. Always wanted this monitor and glad that I was able to get it.

Great monitor for work or play. Beautiful graphics and shape text. Lots of screen space for opening and working with apps. When it is time to play, this monitor will not disappoint. We wound up getting two of these, one for my home office and one for my husband's home office.

Excellent monitor! I use it for a little bit of everything, i.e. play games, software development, video editing, etc. The monitor is excellent for gaming, and very nice and clear for textual use (i.e. programming for me). What I didn't like initially was apps that would full screen if maximized, and most apps are not usable this way. To make it "behave" like two monitors, I purchased the pro version of "Display Fusion" (does a bunch of other things too), and now I can maximize to the left or right side of the monitor, and turn it off when playing games. Initially I thought the monitor was huge, but now that I'm used to it, I'm considering getting a second one and mounting above this one for a total of "4" virtual monitors (in place of the 2 - 27" monitors I have above this one). While programming, I almost always need to see 3 things at a time, and not having to flip between them is very nice.
When I initially got the monitor, it got pretty warm, then I realized that there's a setting in the menu that sets the refresh at 240hz. Way overkill for day to day use. Since I've turned that off, the monitor barely warms up. The base is very nice, it's flat (some monitors have legs that spread out and get in your way), so you can put things on it. Also the height and tilt adjustment works well. Highly recommended if you have the space

Very happy with this so far.
I was nervous that my macbook m1 air would have trouble with running a monitor of this resolution. I bought an 8k compatible USB-C to Displayport cable. Still could not get it to work until I unplugged the usb-c to HDMI/USB adapter on the mac's 2nd thunderbolt port. Now everything works perfectly. It was 100% a limitation of my macbook... not the monitor. Macbook air m1 only supports 1 external monitor, and the mac must have seen the HDMI adapter as a display (even though it was not connectod to an HDMI device).
MiniLED should outlast OLED, which is another reason I bought this monitor.

I love this monitor… I had a 2 monitor setup and I was thinking about a 3rd in portrait mode for coding, but 3 monitors would take up too much space, so I retired 1 of my monitors and let this handle the multiple screens… and I can attest that this is perfect for me!! I love this monitor the only problem for me is the lack of support by windows os, but I’m sure in time a lot more functionality will be available… if you’re on the fence… get it! :D

Historically, I have operated with a multi-monitor setup, and with mixed success. Not only do I play games (racing sims, survival/crafting rpg's, fps's), I also work with large data sets as part of my job. When viewing spreadsheets or writing R/Python code, it is hand to have a larger, uninterrupted screen-viewing area. I went into BestBuy looking for an Ultrawide monitor, they didn't have the AMD FreeSync one in-store, but they honored the sale that was on at the time for the NVidia equivalent. So let's talk features:
Color vividness: This is probably the most vibrant out-of-the-box monitor I've ever owned. The HDR10 and color depth is incredible.
Refresh rate/smoothness/tearing: I use the AMD FreeSync technology with my AMD setup (5900X CPU, 6900 XT GPU), and I have never experienced blurring, tearing, or stuttering with this setup playing any of my games. Also, when I was running two monitors side-by-side, I constantly had issues with one display not coming on and I'd have to power cycle them, but that is solved with the single-display setup.
Gaming quality: This monitor comes in really handy with the racing sims and fps games as it provides you with a really wide FOV. Also, the smoothness of the screen and the adaptability of the FreeSync technology makes for a good experience uninterrupted by glitches that jolt you out of gaming immersion.
Space required and setup: this can be a challenge, and I'll be honest, this monitor takes up a lot of space as it is curved. It is also very heavy (it has to be to keep it stable), and the initial physical setup/assembly/unboxing, which I did solo, was challenging.
Settings and features: This gives you a LOT of options, profiles, on-screen reticle (which comes in handy for games such as Kingdom Come: Deliverance where archery without the reticle is very difficult).
Overall value: You can definitely shell out a ton of cash for larger monitors, but this was surprisingly affordable, and despite a friend of mine telling me that ultrawide monitors sometimes have game compatibility issues with older games, I have not experienced that as you can set the display resolution to place black bars on either side and render the game in its native res.
Great value, 100% recommend.
