Great display doesn't work well w/ MacBook Air m2

At least with my MacBook Air M2. What happened to the old days of plugging in your monitor to a docking station or directly plugged into MacBook Air and it works? This didnt work by a long shot. I had to get adapters, it would go to sleep only to be woken up by the remote. If you have an apple set up, use caution. you will need some sort of of way to adapt, at least on the MacBook Air m2. the screen is beautlful. I really wanted to love this unit but it lacks ease of set up. You should be able to plug n play out the box. you shouldn't have to download Samsung and create a log in. UNREAL. Returned and Got the LG 45 OLED Ultra wide. worked like a charm!

Picture quality

Keep dying before screen comes back on. No good. Doing standard work on the screennos blurry and distorted have to sit close. Only really good for online gaming i guess. Love the core light also put off a lot of heat.

Great panel, absolute terrible OS integration

But oh my gosh the Tizen OS on this thing is less than 1 star. It's hot garbage. It constantly lags when you're using it, especially if you try to use any voice commands, the whole OS freezes for 30-60 seconds before rapidly catching up to your inputs. For whatever godforsaken reason the monitor has no way to switch inputs besides going through the smart menus. The remote it comes with does not have an input button. And who is using any of the smart apps on a monitor? You're using a computer with a monitor or a console. Both of which have much better choices and work with waaaaay less lag than any of the built in apps. You also cannot switch inputs unless the input is detected by the monitor. But what happens if your monitor doesn't detect that input, even if it's working? Well, you better hope you're already on the correct input. And then, because it doesn't detect, it has a built in power off feature. While gaming, it will just turn itself off after a couple hours. Then, because it has trouble with detection, when I turn off my PC, it is supposed to go into standby/power off after 60 seconds. Well, it stays on all night if I don't manually turn it off because the 60 second timer never counts down. It also never turns on when I turn on one of my inputs and I have to manually turn it on. Finally, it only has 1 displayport and 1 HDMI input. So good luck. Obviously some out of touch corporate and marketing gurus won on the design over actual engineers for this one. Do not buy this at full price and only use it with 1 input. Do better Samsung.

Awesome Monitor aside the Glitches

However, I had an issue where the screen was glitching and flashing lines and boxes. Did some research and this is a common issue with this OLED model when using the Display Port. Allegedly when you switch to the HDMI, it doesn't happen but I really don't believe I should be limited to a specific input after spending $1K plus on a monitor. On the plus side like I said, when it works the picture is amazing. The crispness and the difference between the darks and light is the best. Would not recommend until Samsung fixes the issues. Seems Samsung has a few issues with their products. I will not buy their TV's again because they have wireless network issues that they are well aware of but will not put a fix out.

This one having the smart features, built in speakers and the picture quality of this one are like night and day from the other.

Short research showed it was a known issue. Took it back to Best Buy the reps at the Terre Haute, IN location were nothing short of amazing. They returned the monitor offered an exchange but weren’t able to offer it immediately because they don’t carry it in store. I went back to my original monitor and hated it. So I waited patiently for a few months in hopes that the kinks and bugs would be worked out. Bought it again and it worked flawlessly UNTIL IT DIDN’T! 17 months after the purchase it did the same thing. So this time knowing Best Buy couldn’t do anything (outside of the return exchange policy) I contacted Samsung. We did all the trouble shooting told me it was out of warranty and recommended their closest certified Samsung repair shop. Went to the shop, he had it for a few hours came back to discover the repair would be as much as buying a new one! To which I replied “I’m sorry….what?!” His response was a sullen, worn reply of “ unfortunately this is very common I recommend you reach back out to Samsung”. He knew the issue and it wasn’t the first time he had to deal with it. So, still trying to hold on to the dream I could get this monitor fixed I contacted them again. I actually called this time as I wanted to make sure that I got a good try in. We went through the steps of troubleshooting again, still didn’t work. I asked if they could make a one time exception and they said no. Tried speaking to a supervisor because we all know the agents are only allowed to do so much ( I worked over the phone before and nothing is worse than having your hands tied without being able to do anything.) This was in vain, a last ditch effort of trying to get this awesome monitor fixed, no luck. I can say without a doubt unless it’s free or close to free I won’t be purchasing a Samsung product again! Unfortunately I more than likely will never purchase Samsung again with this experience. Which is sad because I always felt the made fairly good products ( they all have their ups and downs)

Occasionally, a black screen appears and the computer simply stops displaying video. It flickers when loading a program or game. Having a second monitor is a nightmare, and the (smart) software included with the monitor is slow and impractical. I have an Nvidia 4090 and feel like this monitor is a bottleneck. I wouldn't recommend it, especially at this price.
