Would give it 10 stars if I could
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. There's no doubt in my mind that Samsung is the undisputed champion when it comes to gaming monitors. And the Odyssey 49" OLED Curved G95SC is proof positive. The G95SC has an impressive presence right of the box. Everything just looks quality. I have to be honest...it's expansive. But that's part of what makes it so amazing. The other part of what makes it so amazing is the beautiful OLED screen. The screen is Samsung's 49" curved OLED display which boasts dual QHD and a 240Hz refresh rate, with up to a 32:9 aspect ratio. All impressive for sure, but the kicker is the 0.03 response time. The bad thing is that the response removes any excuses if you are a gamer! The screen is absolutely phenomenal with deep blacks and vibrant colors that pop. The monitor is great for gaming, but is equally impressive for video editing and daily productivity. You can basically get 3 apps side-by-side. Also impressive is its standalone capabilities. You can connect to your router and it becomes, in essence, a smart TV. It comes with Samsung TV, but you can also install Netflix and any other app available on a Samsung TV. The picture will not, of course, fill the entire screen because TV and movies are not formatted for a 32:9 aspect ratio. Speaking of aspect ration, if you are a gamer just realize that many games are not able to display at 32:9. But for the games that do support it, the experience is amazing. Microsoft Flight Simulator works and the experience is immersive. If you need the real estate, you won't find a better monitor. And if you need a smart TV, but don't have the space, the G95SC does both. But where this monitor really shines is with gaming. If you are a serious, or even casual gamer, this would be money well spent.

Gaming and Media Excellence
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This monitor is superb for gaming and watching media. The OLED panel is the best for black levels and contrast and the processor in the monitor does a great job of enhancing the picture. The massive 49 inch screen, with 5120 x 1440 resolution, has a slight curve to it. This helps when looking side to side on the screen and helps you feel immersed in the content you are watching. Gaming latency is practically non existent at .03 MS, and then 240 hz refresh rate will keep everything smooth. The monitor is slimmer than I expected, making it feel like it take up less space. The included stand is height and tilt adjustable - but does not get as high as I would like so I’m using it on a monitor stand. Also, because it is lighter than you would expect it should work well on a high quality monitor arm. The monitor runs a Samsung operating system, so you have essentially a smart TV and gaming monitor in one. You can load content from all of the usual streaming apps, and mirror your device screen (it even support AirPlay, allowing you to mirror your Mac Laptop or play music). You can also use your favorite game steaming service right on the monitor. It can display two inputs side by side (2560x1400 each) and remember which layout you had. This allows you to easily select it again from the input menu. There are inputs for micro HDMI, full sized HDMI and DisplayPort 1.4, The HDMI port support 2.1 for full bandwidth for 240 hz. It also can act as a usb hub, with 3 USB inputs. There is no thunderbolt or USB 4 and I would expect any premium monitor to include those. For gaming, playing the Witcher 3 at full resolution looks unreal. Racing games are also so immersive because of the super wide screen and free sync and the fast refresh rate keep everything so smooth. The game mode makes a one touch setting for gaming (which you can adjust if needed) and the game bar is a nice touch to see how things are running. The screen is glossy and I would prefer a matte option, with the great black levels also comes great reflections which can be distracting. While the OS is good, there are too many options. I appreciate all of the smart features, but starting up the monitor takes a bit longer than I would like and there are so many options and I feel like there shouldn’t be a high learning curve for a monitor. That being said, the included remote does help with voice input and making it easy to navigate around. Also, do not get this monitor strictly for productivity, it shines with watching content and especially gaming. Using it with Windows for office work is a mixed experience. The screen size is great to have many windows open and to easily see everything all at once, but the OLED sub pixel layout makes things a bit fuzzy to me - this might not be as noticeable for some people. Using with a MacBook Pro M1 was not feasible. HDMI does not recognize the full resolution (likely a limitation of MacOS) and using a DisplayPort to USB Type C connection eventually allowed the full resolution (when not in game mode I had to install a software package to allow setting the full resolution). However, the text on the MacBook never looked clear at all and edges of windows were visibly pixelated. Bottom line, this is the best gaming monitor I’ve even seen. Use as a smaller OLED tv is also great, but I would look elsewhere if you also need to use the monitor for productivity.

OLED gaming powerhouse
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had various gaming monitors, ultra wide monitors, and even a combo of the two (an ultra wide gaming monitor). Gaming support for ultrawide screens has improved dramatically, but you will still want to have the Flawless Widescreen software handy just in case the game you want to play is too old/doesn’t support widescreen monitors. I have had TN, VA, IPS screens and they all have their pros and cons. However, none of them have the color reproduction that OLED has. As an immersive gameplay gamer you might say that all you need is a Widescreen for an immersive RPG, racing, or simulator experience. The Samsung Odyssey OLED G95SC delivers that. As a first person shooter gamer all you want is a high refresh rate and some say you need to be able to see the entire screen without having to crane your neck left and right. The Samsung Odyssey OLED G95SC delivers a 240Hz refresh rate and you can constrain your game play to a smaller portion of the massive 49” screen 1800 curved screen, or you can play Overwatch 2 or Warzone in an immersive 49” screen, the choice is yours. The 5120X1440 resolution might be difficult to get high frames per second on some FPS games, but you can always upgrade your graphics cards later, and I find I keep my gaming monitors longer than I keep my graphics cards. There are some quirks that come with an ultrawide that has a 32:9 aspect ratio but my comment would be to use something like Flawless Widescreen to resolve that issue. While this may seem like a compromise, it is solely lack of ultrawide support from the game developers. Also, The Samsung Odyssey comes with Samsung’s variety of Tizen which means you get a remote control with the 49” screen. So if you have this set up in a small space, it can easily double as your television in your room. As I mentioned earlier, nothing is going to beat OLED in terms of color reproduction so if you are looking for something to game on, look at large spreadsheets (productivity/work), and to watch netflix, hulu, Disney + etc then this is a no brainer. The best thing about the monitor is the fact that there are no real gaming compromises, the only issue I have is the speakers aren’t the best. However, I use external bookshelf speakers or headphones as I always have with every high end gaming monitor I have had, because you’re buying the monitor for the visuals, not the sound. There is no other ultrawide monitor on the market that can compete with everything Samsung has thrown into this new iteration of the Odyssey gaming monitor. If you are able to pick one up you will not regret it.

Great gorgeous flxible OLED monitor
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I received this for Christmas. This is an awesome monitor, a gorgeous display with terrific clarify, colors, text definition, and no delays. Perfect OLED blacks and clarity. It is incredibly flexible, and functdions as a smart TV, and also has picture-by-picture. I just love this monitor, I cannot say enough good things. My only criticsm: the documentation sucks and Samsung needs to beef up their user guide materials. This monitor has a learning curve because of all of its features, and setup takes a bit of time. This all could be facilitated with better documentation. Also, note, the monitor used to flicker when booting up my PC, but that went away when I installed the newest Nvidia driver on my PC in late January (I have an Nvidia graphics card). So the flickering was an Nvidia issue, not the monitor. All content looks great. Flight Simulator 2024 looks just amazing. Streaming TV also looks terrific, great natural colors, best I've ever seen on a computer screen. OLED greatness. Bottom line: this is just a great monitor with so much flexibility. I would recommend this to others without reservation. And buy it while on sale. You won't regret it. BTW, did I mention it's an OLED.

Big monitor with a big price and big performance
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’m sure you know this but this is a massive monitor, it takes up my entire desk and look’s beautiful. Just be aware it’s ginormous when thinking about desk space. So this is the latest and greatest from Samsung. The big thing now is Samsung have gone with OLED which is fantastic, not only do you get really low response rates, but you get amazing visuals due to amazing brightness and the deepest blacks possible. This is basically two Quad HD monitors fused together like other G9s before it. It has an aspect ratio of 32:9 obviously because it’s an ultra widescreen. This is extremely immersive, especially playing games where you would use 3 smaller monitors usually like racing games and such to give you that cockpit view. At 240hz you get silky smooth gameplay from this. If you’ve never played at that high of a refresh rate you’re going to be shocked as it’s just so smooth. Just be sure you have a gaming rig capable of providing the power to do so. For gaming this is amazing but be aware that not all games will make use of this ultra widescreen format and current consoles also do not support ultra wide so expect black bars on each side of the monitor. So if you’re a console gamer I would t recommend any ultra widescreen. This monitor is also amazing for video edition and photo editing due to having extremely great color accuracy. Having a massive timeline to edit my videos makes it so much easier than having to scrub back and forth. This is an editors dream other than not being quite 4K. While it’s not 4K the OLED panel makes up for it in so many ways. One negative is the lack of ports, and I understand why they do this as it’s almost a bezeless display and they lack room to add these. Somehow they did manage to cram a couple of speakers in there which are not the best but will work if needed. You also get the gaming hub that offer Xbox gamepass meaning you can do console/PC free gaming via streaming over the Xbox service which is a neat feature. Overall I love this monitor for both gaming and editing. Yes it’s expensive, but if you’re looking at this type of monitor you already know about the cost of these things. This is by far the best 49” ultra widescreen monitor on the market, the OLED panel crushes VA and IPS panels when it comes to quality.

Best Looking OLED Monitor
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First off, the image quality of this monitor is amazing and what you would expect from an OLED monitor. The colors are bright and clear, the image very sharp, and HDR looks great. There are perfect blacks and contrast. This probably has the best image quality of any monitor I have used. The panel width is great for both keeping multiple applications open as well as being able to play a lot of games in full widescreen, giving you a much bigger viewable area. I do wish it had a vertical height equal to that of a 32” monitor but I suppose keeping the same aspect ratio might make the monitor unreasonably wide. Using a single monitor with this width allows you to play FPS and other games which you could not do on a dual monitor setup so this is a must have for gaming. There are built-in speakers, but they sound rather tinny, as is the case with most monitors so for good sound, external speakers are necessary. The inputs are typical such as HDMI, DisplayPort, and USB-C. There is the ability to add your favorite streaming services to it. Again, they look just as great in image quality as your PC. That said, I think in most cases you can just stream to it using your PC so I’m not sure I see the advantage here, but the feature exists if you need it. It comes with a rechargeable remote that includes well laid out buttons for all the features you would need including settings, input selection, volume, and all things streaming. It is the perfect remote for this. During setup, you are required to do a ton of steps and that includes creating a Samsung account or using an existing account. You cannot use the monitor without this even if all you want to do is connect a computer to it. Between all the initial setup and updating the firmware which you are required to do, it took over an hour from the time I first powered on the monitor to the time I could use it as a computer monitor. If this is all you want to do with it, you should not be required to do all of this set up work including creating a Samsung account. There are a couple of problems that may or may not be showstoppers depending on your needs. I am running the latest firmware as well. For me, the Wi-Fi can’t remember a connection after it goes into standby. What this means is that every time I turn on the monitor, I must manually connect to the WI-FI again, and also reenter the password which is an unreasonable pain. If you are just using this as a computer monitor, this probably doesn’t matter but as soon as you want to use the streaming services or anything requiring the Internet, you have to deal with this, and it just isn’t worth it. The other problem is with playing games with a lot of motion such as FPS games. I noticed the image does not work as smoothly as it should and there is more ghosting than I would expect, and more than with my previous monitor. I’m playing on a high-end computer with a top-of-the-line GPU, and even with the monitor set to gaming mode, I am still seeing this. Don’t know why and perhaps there is another setting somewhere to help with this that I didn’t find. Overall great monitor for all the reasons mentioned above. I did have to remove a star because of the problems I encountered but I can definitely recommend it assuming the issues mentioned don’t impact what you are using the monitor for or if you don’t even encounter them.

Phenomenal, when it works right
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had this monitor for 4 months now and feel I have a decent idea of how it is overall. I use this alongside a 32" LG Ultragear so as not to leave the OLED on all the time. There is a slight flickering issue which usually resolves itself and limited display resolutions available outside the native. When using extended displays this monitor does NOT like fullscreen apps cutting out and requiring to unplug/replug display port cables often to get it to be recognized again. Over time it has also shifted its pixels so its a good ~10-20 pixels off the side of my screen cutting off the img, no option appears to be available to re-center the img on the OLED panel. One final note or personal gripe; as part of preventing burn-in the monitor has a repair mode that pops up in a solid box covering ~1/3 the middle of the screen every 4 hours or so, if this pops up at the wrong time it is very inconvenient. Accepting sees the monitor turn itself off for ~10 min before coming back on and becoming usable again. Declining risks screen burn-in. I could not find an option in the menus to manually do this for example, before a long raid session so opt to turn the monitor off for 10-15m before known long-use. But thats just the bad stuff. The picture on this is phenomenal and with the right applications, scaling widescreen video to it is great. Most games do not support the 32:9 resolution but when they do its the most immersive experience i've had gaming. The contrast eliminates the need for "game modes" such as FPS which maxes brightness to increase visibility, OLED shows everything clear no matter how light or dark the setting. Unless you have a specific use-case for this I suggest sticking with a normal 16:9 or ultrawide 21:9 OLED monitor. I could not see myself going back to an LED/LCD screen after experiencing OLED gaming but I dont think I would ever buy a 32:9 aspect ratio monitor again.

Short lived experience
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had to return this monitor within 30 minutes of install. First thing is the software on it is their tv software. It’s great for when you buy a tv but has no place on a monitor. You have no need for streaming services on a monitor. Sure you could argue that consoles might need it but you’re not buying this monitor if you have a console because 99% of console games can’t take advantage of the screen resolution. If you find yourself wanting to stream you probably have a real tv. So the tv software is useless and that is what caused my issues! I set it up everything plugged in and it didn’t detect my computer. This was highly annoying, you spent 1000+ on something that should be plug and play. After 20 minutes of messing with setting my pc finally showed up! It was an amazing experience! Colors popped the screen was smooth a ton of real estate. Just amazing! Mine you I’m 30 or so minutes of my whole experience and thinking, ok that was annoying but I don’t have to deal with it again and this is awesome. Too bad it was short lived. 7 minutes into a game the screen just went black… computer still on, game still going, no screen. Turning it off and on didn’t work restarting the computer didn’t work, nothing. Item was returned within 2 hours. Went with an LG that isn’t 100% as pretty as this but I’m ok with that. I was able to plug my pc into it and it actually worked without the hassle. I love my Samsung tv but I don’t believe I’ll ever buy another monitor from them. Which is a shame because my best friend has an older QDLED g9 that doesn’t have the tv crap software and he’s had 0 issues and loves it

Worthy upgrade! Beautiful!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This replaced my original Odyssey G9, and all the minor issues I experienced there have been corrected and then some! Someone at Samsung was definitely listening. The obvious...the picture. Beautiful imagery, crisp colors, amazing blacks, and no bleeding. I have always been a late believer to OLED, but once you see it in action, it is undeniable. I have a GeForce graphics card, and like the original G9, G-Sync works just fine. Extremely smooth and no tearing. Sorely lacking from my original G9 was speakers. Now, I understand that most (including myself) will opt to use a headset when gaming so speakers aren't a necessity, but switching from port to port and having no audio to fall back on, can be a nuisance. There are two speakers in this model, and they are appreciated. They won't be banging any doors down, but they provide an adequate listening experience. Extra ports are also readily available including the missed USB-C from the original G9. Everything you need to get the screen and the peripherals moving as ap is here. The last notable is the UI. I also use the Odyssey Ark and a 32' TV/monitor. Both have the Samsung UI, which I have gone to grow fond. And in both of those sets, the first few days were rocky, almost like a configuring period was taking place. After a day or two, we were smooth sailing. I'm experiencing some slowdown in the OLED, but I'm hoping it's the same as the other two. Either way, it is a welcome addition. There is a hefty price tag attached to this monitor, but with all the added features and OLED screen, it's worth the cost of admission, especially since the original G9 was similarly priced upon launch. This is a superior monitor in every way, and I'll be at a toss up picking with monitor (OLED vs. Ark) I'll be frequenting the most.

Perfect 49-inch work/gaming monitor

Coming from Odyssey G9
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Decided to upgrade from the Odyssey G9. Picture quality is a bit more vibrant. The monitor itself is a lot lighter in wieght! Also much thinner so it looks great on my desk. Also, the legs/stand take up far less real estate on my desk which is nice. I havent messed around with the hub yet but it seems like a Cool feature as it comes with a remote.
