Perfect for sitcoms, news AND big budget effects!

This soundbar is perfect for me. It gives me excellent clear sound across the spectrum at low volume, but will wake up and let me know that it is the real deal at higher volumes. Great for hearing voices and still excels at special effects. Would buy again.

This soundbar is amazing! The bass is deep, strong, and very rounded. For eveyone saying the subwoofer is lacking bass !NOOOO Sir! The Sub is incredible and the bar produces incredible sound as well. I recommend this 100%!

samsung speaker review

A movie must have

One item you might want to know is that is isn’t really wireless. The rear speakers are wired to an amp with speaker wires running too each speaker. Also the amp has to be plug into an outlet.

Q850T Souround soundbar

I bought a 6 series PLUS rear speakers for about $570. It wasnt the best so I returned it and up graded to this $750ish Q850T including rear speakers. I would of kept upgrading if I had to. But I had no need once I had this one.

Not very powerful

Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'll start off by saying the soundbar itself doesn't sound too bad but the Q850T as a whole is immeasurably disappointing in both power and performance. I've had the K-850 for a few years now (no rear speakers) and this new model just doesn't measure up 1) the soundbar is adequate, however it is slightly smaller than the K-850. But it still sounds as good as mine. 2) the rear speakers were a total let down as they were not very loud, even when used with Dolby Atmos content. They also would periodically cut out while watching TV, not sure why. 3) the subwoofer gave me the most disappointment as I'm a person that likes bass and the Q850T had very soft bass. I'll be keeping my K-850 for a while. Samsung's audio systems have not been good the past few years.

Thank you for purchasing the Samsung HW-Q850T Soundbar with SWA-9000S Rear Wireless Speaker Kit. I am sorry to hear that you did not experience the full potential of the surround sound system.
By design, the surround speakers are supposed to simulate sounds happening behind the viewer. Therefore, most of the time the surround channels are only used for ambient sounds, which are naturally lower in volume.
However, there are a few settings you can change to adjust the surround effect to your preference:
1) Make sure that the source (e.g. TV output) is sending surround channels to the Soundbar. If the source is not capable of surround, then set the Surround mode to OFF on the Soundbar by pressing the Surround button on the remote.
2) If the source has surround channels, select the desired Sound Mode from the Soundbar remote.
3) Turn off Dynamic Range Control. This is done by pressing and holing the Sound Mode button while the Soundbar is in standby mode. Depending on your soundbar model, you may or may not have DRC.
4) Increase the volume level of the surround speakers using the Sound Control button on the Soundbar remote control. Press the Sound Control button on the soundbar remote (looks like a gear), then select REAR LEVEL and use the Up/Down buttons to adjust the volume within a -6 to +6 range.
There are two adjustments that can be made to maximize bass from the soundbar and subwoofer:
1) Using the WOOFER button on the remote, you can adjust the volume of the subwoofer between -6 to +6 by toggling the button up or down. To set the subwoofer volume level to 0, press the button in.
2) Adjust the bass control by pressing the SOUND CONTROL button (gear icon) on the remote control, then select BASS to increase the level. You can adjust the volume between -6 to +6 by using the Up/Down buttons.
For precise audio adjustments, you can use the 7-band frequency equalizer to optimize the sound for your room acoustics.

Terrific Sound Bar

I purchased this one to replace one that was tricky to set up and had a subwoofer that stopped communicating with the sound bar. This one has great sound and is really easy to use. I may add a subwoofer, but it has excellent sound without it.

Avoid SAMSUNG

When it works, it sounds pretty good. Unfortunately, this has a tendency to cut out frequently for 3-4 seconds at a time. Supposedly, there is a firmware update that might fix this. Unfortunately, you need to use Samsung SmartThings to connect to the internet or download to a USB. That’s when I read in the manual that Samsung won’t connect to the internet directly, instead they need the SmartThings hub to do it. With this in mind, I reflected on other Samsung products I own. 1st a twin oven electric range that out of warranty started shutting down the upper oven while heating up. 2nd A 2015 Samsung refrigerator that the ice maker freezes up and the refrigerator stops cooling until you manually defrost it. Now, this? Strike 3 for Samsung. I am returning this and swearing off Samsung forever. Their products are not dependable. Last evening I bought a new 75” TV and didn’t even consider a Samsung.

Thank you for your review of this Samsung HW-Q850T Soundbar System. I am sorry to hear that you are not completely happy with your audio experience and are considering returning your unit.
Please know that you can update your firmware with a USB device. If not connected to the internet, you can download it onto a USB device, and then upload it to your soundbar - no wireless connection required. When an update is available, you can update the Soundbar by connecting the USB drive that contains the update firmware to the SERVICE port of the Soundbar. You will need a Micro USB to USB adapter cable (not supplied)
1. Go to the Samsung Electronics website (www.samsung.com) → search for the model name from the customer support menu option.
2. Download the upgrade file (USB type).
3. Unzip the file to create a folder with the file name.
4. Store the created folder in a USB and then connect it to the Soundbar.
5. A sequence of “UPDATE” > “BYE” > “ON” will appear on the display 3 times. This will take around 6 minutes.
- During update, do not turn it off or remove the USB.
- If “UPDATE” does not appear on the display window, remove the power cord from the Soundbar and then reconnect it.
- When the latest version is installed, no update is performed.
- Depending on the USB type, update may not be supported.
6. After the 3 cycles are complete, the Soundbar will restart and last source used will appear on the display for about 20 seconds and then it will go off (“UPDATE” > “BYE” > “ON”) 3 times “D.IN” > off
If your soundbar fails to update or is experiencing problems, please contact Samsung Customer Support.

Not worth the money

The “wireless” back speakers still have to be wired to a sync module and the sound wasn’t anymore impressive than our cheaper Samsung sound bar. We returned this and are still shopping for something else. Not worth the money in our opinion.
