Samsung is trash DO NOT BUY!!!

After hours on the phone with Samsung customer service they asked me to send it back WITH the power cord. They had it for a day and tested it and says it works fine. Then they sent it back to me without the power cord. Now I'm waiting on them to send me another power cord which they said they would not overnight and it will be going out regular mail. When it did work the sound quality was only slightly better than the sound that came out of my Sony TV speakers. SAMSUNG CUSTOMER SERVICE IS AWFUL AND I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER SAMSUNG PRODUCT EVER AGAIN!!!!!

Excellent sound and sound effects

First bought the HW-Q60T. Bad sound, matched rear speakers useless. Exchanged it for the HW-Q850T. Monster difference. Spend the extra money for the HW-Q850T

Overpriced Sound Bar with poor sound performance

The sales price made purchase enticing and decided to buy the sound-bar with the rear speaker option. Brought it home and connected all the components with no problems. I liked the display showing on the right side of the bar. I watched Netflix content and blue ray videos and the surround affects were not inspiring, especially the Atmos affects which were negligible. The worst part was the dialog from the center channel speakers which was very strained and I had to considerably increase the level, to hear the conversations. This became annoying since I did not want to play the sound loud high all the time to hear the voices. I decided to return the sound bar system and bought something else. For the price, I would have expected a much better performance from this bar.

More Low Base NEEDED!!!!

Had we had this Samsung system first it would have been impressive. I will however recommend it for the first time home theater buyer who wants a solid system at this price point.

Thank you for your review of this Samsung HW-Q850T Soundbar. I am very sorry that you are not completely happy with the bass performance.
There are two adjustments that can be made to maximize bass from the soundbar and subwoofer:
1) Using the WOOFER button on the remote, you can adjust the volume of the subwoofer between -6 to +6 by toggling the button up or down. To set the subwoofer volume level to 0, press the button in.
2) Adjust the bass control by pressing the SOUND CONTROL button (gear icon) on the remote control, then select BASS to increase the level. You can adjust the volume between -6 to +6 by using the Up/Down buttons.
For precise audio adjustments, you can use the 7-band frequency equalizer to optimize the sound for your room acoustics.

WiFi and Bluetooth never work no matter what configuration I use. Bought it for its wireless capabilities but horrible for that use.

Significantly underwhelmed

I purchased it because it came with the wireless rear speakers bundled in. This was not the easiest of systems to get setup correctly with the TV, even using eARC. The rear speakers were difficult to connect/configure, there are many forums out there that helped me with this. In terms of sound quality. Is this better than the built in TV speakers? Yes, 100% better. However, the bass is seriously lacking, even with the bass volume turned up fully. The rear speakers only work with a Dolby Digital 5.1 (or better) source. So when watching older films/TV shows they are redundant. Volume is also limited with the rear speakers. Overall, i think there are much better and cheaper soundbars on the market.

I am also very sorry to hear that you did not experience the full potential of the surround sound system.
By design, the surround speakers are supposed to simulate sounds happening behind the viewer. Therefore, most of the time the surround channels are only used for ambient sounds, which are naturally lower in volume.
However, there are a few settings you can change to adjust the surround effect to your preference:
1) Make sure that the source (e.g. TV output) is sending surround channels to the Soundbar. If the source is not capable of surround, then set the Surround mode to OFF on the Soundbar by pressing the Surround button on the remote.
2) If the source has surround channels, select the desired Sound Mode from the Soundbar remote.
3) Turn off Dynamic Range Control. This is done by pressing and holing the Sound Mode button while the Soundbar is in standby mode. Depending on your soundbar model, you may or may not have DRC.
4) Increase the volume level of the surround speakers using the Sound Control button on the Soundbar remote control. Press the Sound Control button on the soundbar remote (looks like a gear), then select REAR LEVEL and use the Up/Down buttons to adjust the volume within a -6 to +6 range.
