Customers are saying

They appreciate the good sound quality and features, easy hookup system, amazing Dolby Atmos, and shockingly good bass. Quirky setup but once setup, sounds awesome!

I replaced my Onkyo 5.1 home theater system with this one when I got a new TV. I was skeptical and was not expecting great sound from a soundbar. I wanted a clean look and not clutter up my room with giant speakers, a receiver and all the wiring. These speakers sounds great, no matter the source. The adaptive sound works incredibly well. I do wish it had just a little more "punch" when playing some types of music. I had to go through the setup process twice and you'll have to tweak the settings on your TV to enable eARC, atmost, etc.

Samsung HW-Q850 5.1. Ch soundbar review

This item is awesome! The only thing that I don't like about is that the wireless rear speakers that it comes with are not wireless you have use the black box that comes in the box also the wires are very tiny and you could break them off very easy! I wish that the speakers where 100% wireless and not wired!

JeffKHunt1989: Thank you for purchasing the Samsung HW-Q850T soundbar giving you 3D sound with a dedicated center channel for crystal clear dialogue and rear speaker kit for a full surround experience. We appreciate you sharing your thoughts about the wireless rear speakers.

Occasionally, customers have trouble hiding and running speaker wires from the front of the room (where their soundbar is) to the back of their room (where they have their rear speakers). The Rear Speaker Kit eliminates that hassle. Connect the rear speakers to its wireless module and place these three in the back of your room. One wire is required to connect each rear speaker to the wireless module. Then plug in the power cable to the module. The “wireless” convenience is in connecting your soundbar and any other speakers at the front of the room to the rear speakers – this can now be done via Wi-Fi through the wireless module, eliminating any clutter of long wires running the length of your room. I have and always like and use samsung, have had different generations over the years of there sound system. All i will say is BEST YET!! Sound quality is off the chain. Deep lows thru new sub , it was the tipping point for me. The effertless imulsion into the surround sound, is well A beautiful thing of quality... i was looking at that sonos thing but being a samsing guy, im happy as hell with my purchase.

The q800T Soundbar is amazing. While many times I know people judge a soundbar on just sound, this marvel brings so many other aspects to the table. The availability of Alexa on the soundbar is something that you don’t really think you need, but after you use it you know you cant go back to one without. The 3.1 setup does an outstanding job of giving you a full experience in a small package. The setup was very simple and straight to the point. When you add the rear speaker system, it truly feels like a mini theater setup, and there is nothing wrong with that! Music playback is amazing whether it’s from the TV or Bluetooth. I played some jazz on this to truly get a representation of the high and lows of the speakers, and it didn’t fail. I truly felt like I was in a concert hall. I truly can’t think of any downfalls to this soundbar and would recommend it to anyone looking for theater quality sound and fun!

Love this system! I bought it randomly walking by in the store with the intent to buy the JBL 9.1 or Sonos. Set up was easy and sound was good. It still intrigued me about the more expensive JBL 9.1, so I went back the next day to buy/compare that one. The JBL had more bass (bigger woofer), but the Samsung was by far more clear with voices and the sounds overall were a coin toss. What made me keep the Samsung was that the Smart Things App allowed me to tweak the sounds perfectly to my liking. For the money, this is the best one. Sonos would have cost $1,500 to get the surrounds and sub...not worth it as this one is more loud and clear than I could ever use. Great purchase!

    $1000 Let Down

I took a chance and purchased this soundbar system without actually hearing it first and had big expectations. The Best Buy store had this on display, but it was not working at the time, so I took a chance anyways and purchased it. My wife wanted to "de-clutter" our current home entertainment system and all the wires, etc. So reluctantly, I agreed and did some research and I couldnt find much on this soundbar for reviews yet, but I figured I couldnt go wrong. After unboxing it, setup was fairly easy. I connected the soundbar via optical cable. Plugged in the subwoofer and that connected right away. Found a place for the rear speakers, plugged in the hub for those and it very easily connected to everything else. The soundbar itself sounded pretty good. Crisp, clear, and pretty loud. You can adjust the treble, and bass pretty easily. I didnt have to adjust the treble at all, it already felt like it was high enough and Im a person who likes crisp treble. I put on the movie Ad Astra and the rear speakers put out plenty and really added to the feeling of having "bigger" home theater system than what it is. But here's my biggest problem. I also love bass. This comes with what looks like a sub that could pack a serious punch. However, after 3 weeks with this system, Ive been left with wondering where all the power of it is? I never really felt like I was completely immersed in the full potential of this system. My $180 LG soundbar system filled the room better than this Samsung IMO. I tried to tell myself I was happy with this purchase, but I couldnt do it. It was just an overall letdown. You can have a great sounding bar and surround sound rear speakers, but if the sub doesnt perform, than its pointless. Yesterday I returned it to the store, shared my opinion to the sales rep and he also stated to me that I was not the first person to return these systems because of the lack of power the sub puts out. I ended up purchasing the SONOS ARC soundbar and subwoofer instead for a little bit more money, but I know I'll be much more happier.

    Not True Wireless rear speakers.

A couple weeks ago I came in to buy a sound bar.  The salesperson had shown me a few and I settled on Samsung - HW-Q850T because it was advertised, and told to me, that it had wireless rear speakers.  I wanted wireless rear speakers. If you look at the description on your website and on the box from Samsung it is advertised as wireless rear speakers.  These are far from wireless.  Wireless means no wires except for an AC plug.  Granted it has a "wireless" receiver but to get the sound to the speakers, you must use wires.  Kind of defeats the purpose of a wireless speaker. I know you have no control over how Samsung describes their product but your salespeople have the responsibility to inform your customers that the product is not true wireless. I cannot give an honest rating on the quality of the system so this rating is based on the service provided and the lack of responsibility of Best Buy to require that the products they sale be truthfully represented by the sales staff. Will I come back to Best Buy? Yes, but in the future I can only hope that Best Buy will better review a product and point out any misrepresentation of a product by their suppliers.

    Audio drop outs

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I so much wanted to like this soundbar. The audio quality is very good and I got it for $250 less than they are currently selling it. My problem is the intermittent brief random audio drop outs that happen in the middle of just about every movie I watch. Looked at other reviews and many others are complaining about the very same problem with many different samsung soundbars, not just this one. Samsung has not acknowledged the problem yet. Perhaps they can fix it with firmware. Dont want to wait for that so this unit will be returned.

    Disappointed!

Very disappointed! Bought one of these to replace aging receiver setup. Installed with minor difficulties. Then I turned it on. Tinny sounding, without depth. The subwoofer came with a big scratch on the top, so I suppose this was a concealed return. If the sw worked, I couldn't tell. This was my first soundbar experience, being a home theater buff for years. If this is what you get in soundbars, I will stick with a receiver and surrounds. This is a $100 speaker that costs $7000. Going back today, obviously.
