Customers are saying

Customers have good things to say about the sound quality, easy setup, Dolby Atmos, and bass of the 5.1.2-Channel Soundbar. They appreciate the good sound quality and features, easy hookup system, amazing Dolby Atmos, and shockingly good bass. However, some customers have concerns about the rear speakers not being Bluetooth, the price not being worth it, and connectivity issues with Samsung TVs.

A bunch of our grandkids stopped over and we watched the first Jurassic Park (just as their parents did on VHS when we first installed a surround sound system.) The sound and picture sure have come a long way...installing the system was a breeze and now even "remote-phobic" people can run the surround sound...it was a great buy...

Wow! what can I say! Just bought this today and I am overall impressed of how awesome these speakers sound! I was going to buy the JBL 9.1 but they were out of stock. Then I saw this product on sale and decided to give it a try. I hooked them up to my PS5 and connected it to my Sony 900H with ARC and the sound is excellent.

Excellent Product. Provides very nice surround sound system and subwoofer. Replaced my 2012 Panasonic SC-BTT490 Blu-Ray Home Theater system. It is a very nice step up from that system and integrates very nicely with my Samsung 55” Q90T 4k TV for non-DTS lossless audio content using Samsung’s new Q Symphony feature.

The soundbar doesn’t sound as good as we hoped. The sound is uneven and very compressed (doesn’t sound loud when there are sound effects in movie). The sub despite being only 8” sounded very good but it wasn’t enough to keep the bar. If you have a small room and don’t want things to go boom Then it’s ok and It integrated very well with the tv earc out. Lastly surround speakers are very small and you can ear them only if pointed directly at your ears so not everybody could hear them.

Thank you for sharing your review of the Samsung HW-Q850T Soundbar. I am sorry to see that you are not completely happy with the sound performance. You can try manually optimizing your audio experience by pressing the SOUND CONTROL button (looks like a gear) to access the setting items such as TREBLE, BASS, SYNC, CENTER LEVEL, FRONT TOP LEVEL, REAR LEVEL, and VIRTUAL ON/OFF. The selected item can be adjusted using the Up/Down buttons.

To control the volume of the treble or bass sound, select TREBLE or BASS in Sound Settings, and then adjust the volume between -6~+6 by using the Up/Down buttons.

Great sound but the sub-woofer seems to not have quite the thump I'm used to. Takes a little time to get dialed in to different media such as music or movies.

The system works very well now after I finally found the operating manual online. It has so many features, that one mistake in setting it up caused me headaches for 2 weeks trying to correct my mistaken press of a button. I found the optical connection provides much better synchronization of lip movement on live TV programs. The delay has to be carefully removed. I'm using it with anew Samsung TV which has perfect sync using the TV speakers but there is still a slight delay even with all of the settings set at zero. I downgraded it because of the very necessary and vital missing manual.

My wife & I didn’t plan on purchasing this but they offered us a good package deal w/ our Samsung tv & we love it. Great bass, easy Bluetooth connection (both connecting to the rear speaker system & to your phone). Wish it had RCA/audio inputs so we could plug our karaoke system into it but that is my only complaint.

I bought this without hearing it.... and I regret it... I wanted to upgrade from my Polk Magnifi 3.1 soundbar (7" sub) to a Atmos Surround Bar. I got what I thought was a decent deal on this for about $700. Got it shipped to my home, opened it up and connected it to my Samsung Q6 4k TV via HDMI. Turned on my TV and my first thought was I must have messed something up, cause it sounded like my TV speakers... nope, it was the sound bar. No Bass whatsoever, even verified that the sub was connected... Went ahead and set it up via the Smarthings App and updated the firmware to the latest. ...so back to the sound. After messing around with the settings. basically setting the bass up all the way on the sound bar and on the woofer and then turning down the rest of the speakers all the way down (-6), the bass sounds better, but still nothing like my Polk was (that was a 1/4 of the prices 4 years ago.). You have to be at level 20 (out of 100) before bass starts to kick in better, but then everything else is louder then what I would normally listen to and still not balanced.... When watching an ATMOS movie (through Apple TV4K), it does sound pretty decent, but bass is still lacking, a lot. When watching TV shows, like NCIS for example on the opening the "foof" bass sound on my Polk shakes the room, on the Samsung with the same volume, I can barely even hear it. :( ...Also, seem to be having an issue with WIFI, it seems to disconnect and connect randomly and makes a loud ding while watching a show. I have a Orbi system setup, 3 satellites, and have full speed with the TV, Apple TV and Logitech Remote system all in the same general location, so not sure what its issue is.... And don't get me wrong, it sounds decent, but I miss the bass of my previous setup.

      Bryan:

Thank you for your review of this Samsung HW-Q850T Soundbar. I am very sorry that you are not completely happy with the bass performance.

There are two adjustments that can be made to maximize bass from the soundbar and subwoofer:
      1) Using the WOOFER button on the remote, you can adjust the volume of the subwoofer between -6 to +6 by toggling the button up or down. To set the subwoofer volume level to 0, press the button in.

      2) Adjust the bass control by pressing the SOUND CONTROL button (gear icon) on the remote control, then select BASS to increase the level. You can adjust the volume between -6 to +6 by using the Up/Down buttons.

For precise audio adjustments, you can use the 7-band frequency equalizer to optimize the sound for your room acoustics.

Please make sure you are running the latest firmware update which includes improved connectivity. You can update your firmware ver. 1016.0 by Auto Update, using the SmartThings app, or by using a USB device.

I hope this helps. For further assistance with features, settings, adjustments, or functions please contact Samsung Customer Support.

I absolutely love this system regardless if I'm playing Dolby Atmos content or not. Because of how much I enjoy this system in my living room, I actually bought a second for my bedroom. It's easy to set up, can be controlled from the SmartThings mobile app, and provides wonderful sound.

This product is not for everyone, you canget better sound less features the what i spent for this product. wireless feature is ok but I prefer hard wired, the reason I feel the tone is not there whith out the power behind it, same for the wireless bass Im using an opical cable as you should too, this product is good in a room 12 X 12 not 13 X 20 dont bea fool, dont listen to any one but your self use better judgement top of the line is not always the best mine was trial and error good luck on your purchase

Decent highs, rear speakers surprisingly has good volume although being very small in size. Lacks enough Bass in my opinion for a large room. If you aren’t looking for cinema experience, & just want a sound bar to enhance normal TV content this is perfect. I only wish there weren’t wires that needed to be attached for the rear speakers. They are wireless but have to be plugged into a hub using Speaker wire that is included.
