Excellent Big Screen Samsung for Sub $1000 Price

I originally purchased the LG 47LA6200 to replace my previous Samsung LCD but was unhappy with the picture quality. I found the UN50EH5300 at my local Best Buy store for $799 which was a full $100 less than the LG. The LG had 3D capability and higher refresh rate, but this was definitely a better buy. As is customary for Samsungs, the TV was packaged very well with protective tape covering the entire bezel (the LG had no protective tape). The included remote was a good size, and the dedicated Smart Hub button is brightly colored and located in the center of the remote for convenience. The TV itself has a thin bezel and follows Samsung's 2012 habit of only containing the power button on the frame. The TV also has a U-Shaped lip at the bottom. The picture quality is comparable to the UNEH6000 line with accurate colors, but shallow blacks. The image holds up relatively well with off-angle viewing (another major drawback of the LG I had). Features-wise the TV has three HDMI inputs and is a Smart TV with Samsung's Smart Hub. This is my first Smart TV, and it's great to be able to access apps without having to use an external device like a PS3 or Roku box. The 60Hz instead of 120 or 240 should not be a reason to avoid this TV. Higher HZ rates are often an inflated selling point in that to get an accurate picture the smoothing effect should be decreased anyway to avoid the "soap opera" effect. For those like me who think 3D is overrated this 50" TV is an excellent buy, especially with Smart capability.
