Samsung is the way to go!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We recently downsized and upgraded from a 60" Samsung LED to a 50" Samsung LED Smart TV. It's just the right size for a bedroom television. Not too big or small. Picture and Sound is perfect! Has enough connections in the back. All I disliked was that the Smart Hub takes a little time to download upon the initial turn on and also that the remote doesn't backlit. Other than that were happy & absolutely recommend this tv.

great pictures, poor sound, no hdmi cable
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.goods: great picture quality for the price i paid. the auto motion plus (aka soap opera effect, called auto motion plus in samsung tv's) works very well with 1080p flims. cons: the sound quality from its speakers is sub-par. probably not a big problem if youre using the separate sound system. to my surprise, i did not find a single hdmi cable (or any cables) in the box. NOT EVEN ONE!

Excellent Deal for $399!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Solid 1080p HDTV for the money. Decent sound and picture. This is NOT a 4K HDTV nor a top of the line model. So don't judge it against those! Smart Hub must perform an update after you get the HDTV online. Wait for it to finish (it does so in the background and takes some time, just let it finish!). Otherwise it will tell you function not available and such. Again, just give it a few hours or even over night to finish in the background. You can still watch TV in the meantime. I don't know but I suspect a large update was made available after these were boxed. Has both Ethernet and WiFi too. PS: don't forget to turn OFF the Eco Sensor too!

Outstanding quality tv for the price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I did my homework when searching for my new tv, I wanted an led and a smart tv, also wanted at least a 120 refresh rate, and around a 50" size and wanted all great features at an affordable price. Well.....I got it with this Samsung 50" led smart tv from Best Buy. What a deal and what a tv! If you are looking at Vizio and LG and others, look no further, go for this Samsung! The only maybe some what bad thing I could say is I wish it had another HDMI input on the sides for easy access with a few other hook ups for video camera or whatever like my old Insignia had. other than that a great/awesome tv for the price and size and features. Easy set up and easy to surf around with features. If Insignia had made a tv exactly like this one with all the features I would have bought it, I am replacing my old Insignia 42" lcd model with this one. Love it!

Glad it was a Black Friday deal
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is actually 2 reviews in 1, but let me first say that the SET UP is as simple and easy as any TV I've ever had. TV #1 - brought it home, set it up, let it do it's thing; we were watching TV in less than 10 minutes. I adjusted some of the initial settings and was just getting used to the remote and several of it's functions. The TV had been on for about 20 minutes. I clicked the on-screen GUIDE. It popped up and was on the screen for just UNDER 1 minute and the screen went completely dark. NO PICTURE. You could hear the audio. I knew the remote was working because you could hear the audio change as I changed channels. Turned set on/off several times. Unplugged it for several minutes to try and "reset". Nothing helped -- Still NO PICTURE. I was on the phone then with Samsung for almost 40 minutes and their solution was to send it to them for repair. I said something very clever indicating that was NOT going to happen as this was a brand new TV. Shockingly, disassembly and repacking the TV exactly how it came in the box was VERY quick and easy. I returned to the Best Buy to get it exchanged. After confirmation that I wasn't fibbing (also helped by the fact that I wanted the exact same model) I was given a new one. TV#2 - this time, from the opening the box to stand assembly to on-screen set-up took less than 5 minutes. That was 1 week ago and we still have a picture - although I have yet to press the "GUIDE" button on the remote this time. Review: Picture is GREAT. Sound is really good. We have experienced some of the latency issues others have mentioned. Several shows have noticeable jumps or jerks or skips in the picture. One of the other reviews told how to "fix" that but it turns off the 120hz refresh rate. However, watching sports programs in sports mode has been awesome with no noticeable clipping. The first movie we watched on Netflix seemed to be out of sync with the audio and I'm only using the TV's built in speakers. The bottom line for ME is that the black friday sales price was UN-beatable for this size screen and quality. I wish the quality was better, that is, more in line with what the TV retails for normally, but I am OK with it. All that said, even though I'm happy, I'm not sure I would get this model again. Now if I can just work up the courage to hit the GUIDE button...

Easy Setup, Great Picture
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The TV was easy to set up and the picture quality is great. It is also one of the only TVs that size with a central stand, which was useful to us.

OK so far
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I just bought this TV 2 days ago after my 8 year old Magnavox died. It is ok so far. There were some issues adjusting the picture just right and it still looks funny sometimes. I'm glad the sales man told me not to expect HD when watching over the air broadcasts. He explained that the picture quality isn't going to look like the TVs in the store unless I am playing or streaming a high quality HD video. It's the old "garbage in, garbage out" scenario. This TV can't turn bad video into good video. It's fine for general viewing and, if it last me 5 years, I will be happy. Also the sound needed adjusting. Having the speakers in the back is different, but not bad. I'm not having the sound problems other people are reporting. I also changed the picture motion plus to clear to get rid of the blur and dizzy feeling when the camera moves a little too quickly. My advice is: Don't expect too much from a cheap TV. And, there are plenty of ways to adjust it. Keep trying different things until you get the best picture and sound. There is a reset for both, so you can always start over if you really mess it up. I also liked that it was really easy to set up and adjust. I purchased the 5 year warranty from Best Buy and then canceled it the next day because I am not happy with the experiences I have had with the Geek Squad. They are impatient and condescending when I ask them for help and they always act like they have something better to do. I don't think it is the individual employees, since it seems to effect all of them. I think it is some demands that management is putting on them that makes them not have enough time to assist the customers in a good customer service kind of way.

My first Samsung tv
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I needed a tv for my living room in my first apartment. My dad has always had Samsung and highly recommended me to look into getting one. I went to my local Best Buy and chose this one, perfect size for the tv stand I purchased and looks great in my apartment. I'm 21 years old so love all the cool apps on it like Netflix and YouTube. It's also perfect for my XBMC kodi box as well. The picture is very clear, so far so good!

So far, so great!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So far, it's the best TV I've ever owned by a long shot. The only downsides are that there are SO many options for the picture that it's really tough to sort out what they do, and which ones actually make things better. Also, the performance on the Smart Hub isn't fantastic. It's fine, but it's a little slow, and I wind up using my lightning-fast PS4 for most media like I did before. Without an excellent alternative like that, though, the Smart Hub choices are incredible and on par with Roku.
