Customers appreciate the 51-Bottle Capacity Wine Cooler's precise temperature control and quiet operation. Many also highlight its substantial capacity, ease of use, and attractive design. However, some users note that the cooler may not accommodate all bottle sizes comfortably, and the interior light is a point of contention for some. The quality of the build and the smooth-gliding shelves are frequently praised.

4 stars for the experience. First unit sent was defective, and there were issues trying to figure out when the second one was going to be delivered. Having said that, the cooler seems to work well and is relatively quiet. It sits in the same room as the TV, and does not interfere with listening to the TV or talking. Seems well built, temp holds correctly, and light is unobtrusive.

So far Solid, but not flawless...

I did a lot of research before I made this purchase... a lot. My first wine fridge was a gift... a single-zone, 36-bottle Kenmore thermoelectic(?) with zero bells and whistles that did the job for years, but recently died. I only question what kind of cooling unit it used because I never knew and when I was troubleshooting it there were no visible coils to clean.
Initial thoughts on this Samsung out of the box...
1. Beefy, solid unit... recruit a friend to help you unload it. It's no lightweight.
2. Noise... there's a little fan noise from back of the unit which initially I've set up as freestanding... not annoying, but noticeable. I suspect that when it is moved to under-cabinet later this will no longer be an issue.
Will only add here that "freestanding" is a bit of a misnomer since various anti-tip brackets are included... a necessary precaution for when fully loaded... as anyone who has ever opened the top drawer or two of a full, 5-drawer filing cabinet will know.
3. Instructions... comical at best where they are not woefully lacking... the latter begin with unpacking this fridge. To unpack all you really need to do is cut the four straps. and the top will lift off the "Pallet" bottom. Discovered this only after cutting the top tape and removing various blocks and pads that keep the item still and centered in transit. While there are many illustrations and notes on the box, they communicate less useful information such as don't "pierce, stand upon or drop" the box.
The manual is comical. It appears to be an awkwardly literal translation from the original Korean, but there are parts where what is provided is simply incomplete. I suspect this is true, in any language.
ASIDE: I used to play an online game that was poplar all over the world. Whenever I tried to use a translator to better communicate with a teammate in another country they mostly politely asked me to not do so. I think I finally understand why.
4. The controls... overall for the money it should be "smarter" in a few ways:
- Memory - it reverts to default temperature settings if there's a power failure.
- Light control - there is none. They are on... period. Bothers me a little... a 3-choice switch such as most auto dome lights (On - Off - Door actuated) would be ideal. The light itself seems "yellowish" to my colorblind eyes, but I'm told it is actually a soft, cool blue-white.
Temperature controls - First the area you touch to set temps is not illuminated. Next while the instructions tell you to repeatedly touch until the desired setting is reached, what you are not told is that a touch can only raise the set temperature, but that once the maximum setting is reached the next touch will roll to the minimum setting.
Once set the unit reached set point quickly... going from mid-70s to 45 bottom zone and 55 top zone in under 2 hours. I have not yet checked the accuracy of the zones' readings.
Screw holes on the unit meant for the various brackets are filled with small plastic plugs "to be removed", but by what means without marring the paint? Of the two along the top front edge (for the undercabinet bracket) one lifted out easily using fingernails, but not the other) Maybe tape? Maybe just mar the paint since the surface won't be seen after unit is installed/ancho.
5. Capacity:
- It comes from the unit's depth and smart drawer-rack layout which calls for alternating bottles pointed in opposite directions, but the "promised 51-bottle capacity" is strictly for standard 0.75 liter bottles. Fatter bottles will not fit between the upper racks. Taller bottles will prevent the door from closing. Of course you can remove rack(s), but then you are using less capacity than you paid for.
- One thing I liked in a couple other fridges I considered was a section where opened bottles could be reclined rather than laid flat. I think I can create this on this unit's bottom, fixed shelf, but again... I would be reducing capacity.
Bottom line: Would I make this purchase again? Would I recommend it to "a friend"?
Not at this time. Especially since I could purchase two thermoelectric units for the same money, but I will update after living with this Samsung for a while. Then again, the out-of-the-box-horror-story reviews of many of the thermo models out there steered me in the compressor direction. At least the horror-stories around this unit are mostly confined to Samsung CS... rather than about the unit itself.

Overall the quality feels very good on this product. The aesthetic is nice. The shelf spacing could be better - there is not much you can do with atypical bottles/champagne, etc
That is my only critique

I bought this wine frig based on dimensions and reviews. It is really pretty and quiet. I got lucky with the fit! I'd recommend having a width about 1 inch bigger than the actual refrigerator if installing it within a cabinet area.
