Next best thing to an OLED, with a great OS
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I originally purchased a 2016 Sony 4k set for my bedroom. I was extremely disappointed with it. The picture wasn't sharp and black levels were horrid. The operating system and menus were even worse. I have a 2016 LG OLED 4K TV, which ruins my perception of what a tv should look like. I set out to find a TV with a great picture for a bedroom, but without spending $3k+ on another OLED. Enter the KS8000. I am extremely pleased with the picture quality. The picture is sharp and the colors are extremely vibrant. Black levels are decent for an LED. This set has a built in RVU for directv subscribers. With a professional install, you can use this TV with full directv DVR functionality without a separate box. The Smart Control is fantastic. Its small, simple, yet extremely functional. The voice assistant built into the remote works surprisingly well. The remote is RF, so you don't have to worry about point the remote directly at the TV. The operating system is stellar. It features all the popular apps I would expect, Netflix, Amazon, HBO, Hulu. The home button will promptly display little thumbnails of "what's on" directv, so I quickly select from a few popular channels....cool little feature. It comes with a central wiring hub, so you only run one proprietary cable (included) to the TV. All devices will plugin to the hub: 4 HDMI's, RF/ANT, 2 USB, and 1 Digital Optical Out. I'm giving this set 4 stars for a few reasons. The viewing angle is quite poor. The picture quality quickly becomes washed out and more pixelated when viewing from outside the center of the TV. The other reason is the light bleed from the edge of the set. Its noticeable in scenes with a black background. If you can afford an OLED, its undisputedly better across the board. If you are looking for a less expensive alternative, the KS8000 is for you.

Disappointed in this TV
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Samsung TV 8000 series 4K system does not have a good sound system nor does it have a clear picture. I bought a sound system that helped with the sound, but there isn't a setting to adjust the picture. I found out that while the TV has the capacity to receive the signals in 4K, most shows are aired as 2K. I regret buying this TV.

Thank you for purchasing this Samsung TV.
I am sorry to hear that you are not completely satisfied with picture quality.
Please know that the TV will upscale as best as possible any content sent to it. The closer the signal is to 4K, the better it will look coming out.
In addition, some users experience cloudiness as they enable HDR+ while watching HDR content
Please try disable that feature and see if that helps to solve the issue.

Dead/stuck pixels in clusters
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Did not like that upon close inspection, I found many small clusters of stuck pixels. These did not change color and after tapping the screen they would come back to life but then another set would go out. There was also one or two completely dead pixels on the screen. For the technology claimed, I was disappointed.

Excellent TV
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Like many other reviewers, I researched as thoroughly as possible before making a buying decision. I highly suggest checking out rtings.com. I actually purchased and returned a Samsung 6 series 55" TV last week. That version simply did not have a good picture no matter how I adjusted the settings. There were always artifacts around text, playing fields in sports just didn't look right and the picture always seems to look hazy. I have a Samsung 6350 and that picture was actually superior even though it is 2+ years older to the 6200. So back it went. I decided to go ahead and spend more $ on a better quality TV. The OLED TV's are out of my price range so I settled on the KS8000. I returned to Best Buy and saw an "Open Box" of this TV that was marked down $190 and labeled as "minor scratches". I took a chance and purchased it. I thought I had made an expensive mistake as after everything was hooked up the TV would not find my cable box. I checked and rechecked the cables, unplugged, reset, etc. Nothing but a blue screen! I ended up calling Samsung tech support and walked through their steps. It turns out the Samsung One Connect cable really has to be locked in with a solid "click" on the back of the TV. Once this happened, my cable box and Blu-Ray player were both recognized and I was in business! Picture - out of the box the picture is amazing. I scrolled through the channels watching football, soccer, basketball and a variety of movies. The colors were great. The brightness of the TV is good for a brighter room and the black was decent for dark room. The black levels do not touch an OLED TV though but for me they are good. Sound - better than average but if you are a home theater enthusiast you already have a sound system. Good enough for me. Remote - after the learning curve of the remote I actually like it. It is smaller and only has a few buttons. The remote is universal and actually works for my other devices. Cons - viewing angle like most of these TV's reduces picture quality. I would like a company to come out with a stand for these larger screens that allows them to rotate so that you don't have to line up your seating with the center of the TV to receive the best picture. If you want a mid range priced TV with higher end performance, this is it. I have no regrets!

The quality didn't last long.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had this TV for just over a year and a half, it was great until recently; a dark spot, about the size of a basketball, has started to form in the top left corner of the screen and of course it only had a 1 year warranty. Disappointing.

Horrible
||Posted . Owned for 5 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Tv looked great, but the WiFi antenna on it wasn’t great. Tried streaming and it kept buffering. After two years of owning, the tv died. The screen stopped working and wouldn’t display anything. Samsung and Best Buy didn’t want to cover the repairs due to the warranty Expiring days prior but I fought with Samsung to get them to fix it, surprise surprise this is actually a manufactured defect and they had no screens to replace the tv. Manage to get a store credit from them and purchased a Sony instead. Samsung’s turned into a shiny piece of garbage. So sad they used to be good

No plug-ins, no credit
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Wasn't told there were no plug-ins for dvd, speakers, etc. Had Geek Squad to deliver and install, including hooking up dvd and speakers for $49.99. Asked for a credit since that couldn't be done and haven't received it yet.

Do Not Buy this TV
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.TV's frame was broken. Exchanged it for another one. Broken again. Opened up a third new box at the store. Broken again. It's not that apparent and won't be visible or matter to everyone, however for that price, a huge no. I've always had Samsung TVs, but maybe now it's time for Sony or LG.

||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great TV while it lasted. Failed after a little over a year and a half. It will cost $300+ more than I paid for it to fix! Guess I'm replacing it with a non Samsung TV.
