Our Samsung has a great picture.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We purchased a Samsung - 55" Class - LED - 2160p - Smart - 4K Ultra HD TV - with High Dynamic Range. We have found the picture to be fantastic. We purchased this specific size Samsung to fit inside our console. The Geek Squad (Andy & Alex) did a perfect installation.

||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I like my t.v. very much!!!! The colors looks very nice on this television. I was amazed with watching a demo at the store, but I still had some doubts. When I finally decided to get it, I was not disappointed. :)

Best TV
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is by far and away the best smart TV I've come across and am proud to say I now own one. The color and crispness of the picture stand out to anyone watching it. I've gotten more positive comments from friends and family than on any piece of technology I've ever owned.

Might not be worth the money
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had to exchange a Sony 4K tv due to the brain going out within a year of ownership and could not for the life of me figure out which tv to purchase, the LG or Samsung 55" Ultra 4K. After weeks of reviews reading and store shopping I finally had one person tell me to buy the Samsung over the LG. I have had LG in the past and have never complained. I purchased the Samsung 55" and was immediately unimpressed. Spending $1,200 for a tv that has equal competitors and much cheaper was a gamble. I waited my 30 days and could never get to a point where this tv made me feel like it was "special". Yup, an Ultra 4K should make you and your viewing Audience feel excited. The excitement never came so we decided to return the tv and not only save $400, but immediately feel the excitement and overall joy of the LG that is now in my house. I am not writing this review to bash the Samsung, it took me a long time to justify and/or bight the bullet to make the purchase. But the LG to me and my family is already far superior and friendly as the much more expensive Samsung.

Extremely great TV for the price.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So first things first, this is an edge lit LED TV. It is lit from the bottom from what I can tell. If you are looking for full array backlight then you need to step up to Samsung's higher end offerings which I think maybe the 9800 series or maybe the Vizio P series. If you are looking for the absolute deepest black levels available without the issues of LED TVs then you should look at LG's OLED offerings. Now with that out of that way this TV is quite excellent for the price. As I stated before this is an edge lit TV. These types of sets usually have issues of clouding and halos that can be quite annoying. I had a 2011 8000 Series from Samsung before purchasing this set. I am quite frankly impressed by how much the lighting systems have improved over the years. I won't lie and say you can't see some unevenness in lighting but it's seriously no where near how bad it used to be on edge lit sets. I have found it to be more noticeable on the high setting for Smart LED (local dimming setting) but even then it's not terrible. It's not even noticeable the majority of time when viewing directly in front. I watch a bit off axis and even then it's not that noticeable. As with many LED TVs there can be variances between panels but this model seems to get pretty great reviews so looks like Samsung QA team is trying to be consistent. This set has a 10 bit color panel. If you are interested in HDR video then this supports wide color gamut. Even on regular video from streaming, Bluray or cable the picture quality is great with nice vivid color. I haven't had the chance to watch much HDR but I did watch Amazon's man in the high castle and thought it was amazing. The brightness this set is able to produce is amazing. It's one of the better sets for HDR due to its brightness levels. The intro and first episode have some nice scenes with sunlight that was so bright it caught me off guard and had me squinting. The colors looked incredible and more realistic due to the variances in shades of the same color. I was especially impressed since this was streaming video which isn't the best quality available. Even streaming 4K video looks impressively detailed. Black levels on this set are seriously impressive. They won't beat OLED or full array backlight but for an edge lit set they're amazing. The contrast you are able to get from these black and brightness levels is great. Motion looks fine to me (I turn off all the motion enhancements as I don't like the effect they introduce) but motion is something some people are really sensitive to or picky about so guess you have to judge this for yourself but movies and sports look fine to me. I was pleasantly surprised by the speakers on this set. Most TVs now a day have down right terrible quality speakers but these are actually pretty good. It has a sub woofer so you get some nice bass. It doesn't sound tinny either. A sound bar or receiver will sound better but the built in speakers are actually quite usable. There seems to be some sort of volume leveling going on even if you turn it off in the settings though in my opinion. I have to raise the volume a bit to get it loud for some TV watching. I am not a fan of Smart TV platforms because they seem to be third class citizens in regard to app development and updates (iOS/Android are first tier, game consoles and stream boxes are second IMO). However, Samsung's Tizen platform isn't bad. The Netflix app is a little buggy. It crashed one time to the point I had to power down the set for a minute then boot it back up so it can work again. Amazon works fine. There's even a Plex available. The remote is pretty spartan. It actually feels pretty good in hand but it doesn't have any number buttons. It does support voice control with a mic in the remote but I don't use it. There's a universal remote feature which seems to be part of the TV's software as well which means you can use the remote for other devices but I haven't found it to useful. I use a Harmony instead. This TV uses an input box which can be good or bad. On one hand you can have the box away from the TV to hide wires better but you have to have the box away from the TV. Guess this depends on personal preference. On the up side if in a couple of years there's updates to HDMI that need new ports you may be able to upgrade to a newer box. This review went on longer than I expected but overall this a great TV and for the prices it's been dropping to recently it's an amazing value.

||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.this set hast great features but I am less than impressed by the instrucions for set up and operation. The addition and setup on periapicals was written in tech language difficult for an average person to understand even a person with graduate degrees in business.

Technology leads content
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I would have rated the TV 5 stars if there was UHD content so I could use the full capabilities of the technology that this TV provides. . I subscribe to FIOS and from what I can see (based on Internet searches) UHD content will not be available for another 2 years. I have also read that there is a competition between HDR format HDR10 and Dolby Vision. Samsung supports HDR10. If Dolby vision becomes the dominat format then the Samsung technology that I purchased may become marginally available. I paid top dollar for all this technology, but I can't use it because content is not available and the HDR format is not resolved. ."I am all dressed up with nowhere to go." If you are planning to purchase a TV now, it's probably just as good to get a cheaper version of this TV and upgrade in a few years when the UHD content becomes available and the Format is resolved.

Way more than expected
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We are still discovering all the features. My son-in-law came for Christmas and showed us how to sync our phones so we could look at photos and videos on the big screen. I examine and transcribe family tree documents and i can scrutinize every letter. Love my new TV

Great TV
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Excellent video, works great in a very bright room. Not a huge fan of the break-out box for connections, I would have preferred the connections be on the back of the unit. Also, the curved back made mounting to a VESA mounting bracket a PITA. These reasons are why this doesn't get a 5-star review.

Still under evaluation
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This QuantumDot technology television makes viewing an absolute pleasure. The high definition pixels also makes it a nightmare to view some shows as flaws in characters are not masked by makeup but very visible. I had issues with the first unit I got at Thanksgiving and exchanged it for another so it's still being tested. I have stayed with Samsung over the years with no issue.

Great TV
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I did all my research before I bought this tv, and it really paid off. It's amazing and does everything I need it to do while making everything look extra sharp and colorful. If I had my pick of every tv that came out last year, I would still pick the ks8000.
