Dont buy into the curved hype
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Returned this TV after only 2 weeks, The curved screen is a gimmick and is not needed, it makes it awkward to place in areas and actually shows more glare than the flat version of this, and don't even try to mount this unless you by a mount specifically for curved TVs. I retuned and bought the flat version and absolutely love it.

Great picture.... but
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had problems with the samsung series 6 and 7. Now up to the series 8. The tv has a great picture but after two weeks the HDMI in the one connect box went bad and the home button on remote became slow or non-functioning. I returned the set for the same model exchange. This is the last chance for Samsung tv products.

TV pic good--terrible internet connection
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased TV 1 month ago problems from first week. TV pic is great but cannot connect to internet at times. Internet will drop during movies or not connect at all. After 3 calls to Samsung and a visit for the Geek Squad and replaced to main board still not working and Samsung repair on the way. ON line support said it was TV not my internet provider that Geek Squad suggested.

PARANOID TO BUY A 4K NOW BECAUSE OF THIS TV
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Let me start off by saying that this television is absolutely gorgeous in the design and the interface is absolutely lovely with brilliant colors, but that’s about it from there. I read all the reviews before buying this television on RTINGS (which is where you should read all your reviews) because I wanted something great for gaming and movie watching. I took the plunge by buying the 55 inch model this past Thanksgiving and was so happy during the holidays playing my copy of Final Fantasy XV on this television. I probably put about one hundred hours playing video games on this television between November and the beginning of January until the television started acting up (I only play video games in short sessions). The television stopped reading my connected items on the One-Connect box that it came with. I had to constantly keep getting up and plugging in and out my connected items for them to work. Then the television would not respond to my control and would randomly turn on in the middle of the night and opening apps by itself. Needless to say I was still within the holiday return policy and I am an elite member, so I returned it for the exact same model television. Now I was on television number 2 and set it back up when I got home and believe when I tell you that it was only turned on for about 20 minutes while watching television when the television gave me an error saying “Connect the One-Connect Box” while the thing was still plugged in. I unplugged it and plugged it back in then the One-Connect box would make a very loud pitch sound and then the TV turned into a pixelated purple screen. Television number 2 literally lasted me only 20 minutes. I went back again and returned it a second time now and got the same model television. Third time’s the charm right? I was now on my third Samsung KS8500 55 Inch Curved television. This time everything was working great for all of 3 days until the TV image started shaking like an old 1960’s television and the colors starting going all out of whack. Then after the television finished having its seizure it left a permanent blue and green line vertically and horizontally on the screen of the television. I went back to my local Best Buy and told customer service about my problem and they’ve seen me so many times already that I was so embarrassed having to come back to return the television. They asked me if I wanted to swap it out for another model of television, but I would have been taking a loss at that point so against my better judgment I went and got a fourth television of the same model. Now I have television number 4 and when I go plug it in and turn it on there is this ungodly bright white light on both bottom corners that the previous 3 televisions did not have. Oddly when I opened this television it said “Inspected By: ___” which none of the other televisions had and this was a brand new television. At this point I lost all faith on the Samsung brand, but I did not want to take a loss on the television. Feeling so embarrassed and not wanting my local best buy to see my face again for the same problem I drove 1 hour to a Best Buy out of town and they had a Magnolia section in this store and the Magnolia expert told me that I was sold a defective television because it was an edge light defect and then they gave me the exact television now for the FIFTH time! NOW I plug in television number 5 now and not only did it have the exact same “Inspected by: ___” like the last television, but it also had the same edge light defect, but even worse now because it was on both bottom corners and on the top of the television. The colors bleed so bad because of those bright lights that your blacks look almost grey in color. Not only that but this fifth television also won’t connect to my internet so the smart hub interface is utterly pointless. I can’t connect to YouTube, Netflix, Hulu, WWE Network, etc. Here are my final thoughts. I will be ultimately returning this fifth television now for a full refund and will be going without a TV for a few months which is unacceptable. I have had to personally drive out of my way 45 minutes each time back and forth from my home to Best Buy to constantly keep returning this television. The managers of Best Buy don’t want to compensate me for this or even give me a discount for my inconvenient experience of having to drive and constantly keep returning these faulty televisions. I just wanted to get another TV, but I would be taking a loss and they don’t want to work with me. The KS8500 is BEAUTIFUL and has amazing picture quality for however many days it decides to work for and very little input lag for the gamers out there. I wanted to go with the Sony 850D or 930D, but even Sony has its share of problems having actual BENT units coming out of the box (take a look for yourself at your local Best Buy and their floor units). These edge lit televisions have a lot of problems with color bleeding and for the money you are paying it is unacceptable. Ultimately if you want the most for your money you guys should get the LG B6 or C6 which are OLED’s if you want more bang for your buck. I will be contacting customer service to see if I can be compensated for this inconvenience and I have lost all brand respect for Samsung and I’m even paranoid now to buy a television from Best Buy. Worst case scenario I might have to write a letter to Best Buy Corporate. Ultimately just buy an LG OLED. Samsung and Sony have a lot of stuff they need to work out on their televisions. For my experience with this product and quality of television I give this television 1 out 5 stars.

Good but beware
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Had the tv for about two months and the main board went out on it. Luckily I got the Geek Squad warranty because Samsung's customer service is worthless. This TV may have decent reviews on bestbuy.com but please do a google search for more reviews and just read all the issues with this TV. Back panel seperation issues, components going out, light bleed, etc. It looked good when it was working, but now I have a $1,500 paper weight. My issue is more than likely isolated, but the back panel coming un-glued is VERY common with these TV's and clearly Samsung's QC is sleeping on the job. You have been warned.

Not Very Smart
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this smart TV Christmas 2015. Was rated higher than Sony and LG then. Now the streaming stinks. WIFI down stream is around 0.64 and upstream is 11.** always locks until I reset the TV to factory settings, then a couple hours later its back to its old tricks. The other TV we have is a Sony dumb TV with Apple TV attached. No trouble with anything on that setup EVER. Called Spectrum and my down stream is 113 mbps and upstream is 11.** Called Samsung and they're only open mon-fri 9-5pm - when I'm at work. Wish I had a Sony SMART TV.

Not so smart tv.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this tv in February so I have had it for over 3 months. I had error messages whenever the tv channels were switched and this problem was corrected with a new cable box from Direct TV. However, when I change channels my screen often goes black for several seconds and this also happens when I have commercials during a program. It gets frustrating and irritating and I believe that the tv is adjusting to different pixels during commercials and programs. If this is a smart tv then mine must be less than smart. I have had geek squad out twice now and the problem persists. I have been a loyal Samsung customer for over 7 years now with TV's and appliances and haven't had any problems with prior products. Also the picture quality on this tv is no better than my 7 year old Samsung 55 inch tv or my smaller Samsung tv. I believe that there are a lot of problems with Samsung's smart tv and am sorry I purchased this tv. Not only would I not recommend this product to a friend but would warn them against. I just had this conversation with my son who is tv shopping and told him to stay away from Samsung until they work out their problems. Also trying to get in touch with Samsung is pretty much impossible.

Problem from start.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. While this TV has a stunning picture, I have experienced problems with the smart hub since installation. Apps disappear and need to be reinstalled. TV locks up during viewing. Geek squad has been requested out to attempt to fix it twice. Now I am told that the main board needs replacing. This part is currently on order. The TV was installed a little over 1 month ago. I requested a replacement but was told that they need to fix it. The amount of time involved in correcting this issue is approaching 20 hours and counting.
