Posted .Hi pdb518,
Thank you for purchasing the Samsung AU8000 TV. Black bars on the top and bottom of your screen can be caused by either a setting on your cable/satellite box or by the content you’re watching. However, the TV can be adjusted to help minimize this.
By adjusting the aspect ratio, you can get the image to fill the screen. Go to Home > Settings > Picture > Picture Size Settings > Picture Size.

Annoying
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The picture quality was underwhelming compared to the lower end Samsung this unit replaced. It makes an annoying clicking noise wben you turn it off. This clicking probably wouldn’t be all that bad if you weren’t trying to go to sleep. Like nails on a chalkboard it will upset you and you will get up and unplug it every night.

Posted .Hi Underwhelmed,
We appreciate you sharing your feedback regarding a clicking noise while the TV is powered off. Please know, Samsung TVs use a combination of metal and plastic material. These materials are subject to expansion and contraction due to temperature changes. Occasional creaking, popping, or cracking may be heard. Additionally, certain components within the TV may cause these temporary noises once powered off. This does not indicate a product malfunction. The TV is safe to use.
With this in mind, here are a few quick tips on how to reduce the expansion that can cause these noises.
1) Ensure that there is adequate ventilation. Some enclosures may not allow for proper ventilation. This causes the internal temperature to increase and the plastic to expand even more than normal. For recommended ventilation requirements, please see your user manual.
2) Make sure there aren't any heating or air conditioning vents pointing directly at the TV.
3) Verify that the TV is on a flat and level surface. Tilting or an uneven stand can increase these noises.
Should you ever have questions or need help, please call us at 1-800-SAMSUNG (ask for TVs), available 8AM - 12AM EST, 7 days a week.

Not happy
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was very unhappy with this TV. The first one I got had a cluster of dead pixels in a corner, so I exchanged it for a new one and that one made an annoying clicking noise when turned off. This all happened within 1 week. I ended up returning the second TV and giving LG a try for the first time. I got the LG 8000 version and I’m glad I did. Samsung has lost my trust. Their newer TVs seem to be cheaply made. I had never had any issues with their brand in the past years.

Posted .Hi JohannaM,
It’s unfortunate to hear you’re not fully satisfied with the brightness of your AU8000 TV’s picture. If the colors on your TV are correct but just a little too dark or bright, you can try adjusting Picture Modes, Contrast, Brightness, or Sharpness settings.
I recommend using Dynamic Picture Mode, which makes pictures brighter and clearer in bright viewing environments. Go to Settings > Picture > Picture Mode > Dynamic.
Or you can manually adjust the Brightness, Contrast, and more. Press the HOME button on your remote, then navigate to Settings > Picture > Expert Settings.
You may also want to disable Power Saving Mode, which automatically adjusts the brightness to reduce the TV’s power consumption. Go to: Settings > General > Eco Solution> Power Saving Mode
Ambient Light Detection will also automatically adjust the brightness level of the TV according to the ambient light level to reduce power consumption. If Ambient Light Detection has adjusted the screen brightness to a too-bright or dark level, you can select Minimum Brightness to manually adjust the minimum screen brightness. Go to: Settings > General > Eco Solution > Ambient Light Detection.
Please also be sure you are running the latest firmware. You can check to see what software version your TV is using and if there is an available update through the settings on your TV: Settings > Support > Software Update.
I hope this helps to improve your picture. Should you need further assistance, please contact us at 1-800-SAMSUNG, 8 AM - 12 AM EST, 7 days a week. LiveChat with an agent as well as manuals, software, and warranty info can be found at the ‘Support’ link on our Samsung website.

Not good for streaming.
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is the worst tv I've ever had especially if you stream programs. I had a warranty on my Samsung NU7000 which was a good thing because after 4 years, the tv had black shadows running down it horizontally so they replaced it with this 8000 series which is so inferior to the one we had. The refresh rate is only 60HZ so the motion is jagged and very distracting. The blacks are blotchy and the whites are blinding. I exchanged it for an LG so hopefully we have better luck with this brand.

Posted .Hi,
Thank you for purchasing the Samsung 55" AU8000 Crystal UHD and for sharing your feedback regarding your experience regarding glare and a noise from your TV when it is turned off.
The light conditions of each room environment are different. For optimal glare control, we recommend positioning the TV to minimize incident light falling on the screen or consulting a professional installer.
Anti-reflection designed to minimize ambient light reflection is a feature in our QN85A series and higher.
Please know, Samsung TVs use a combination of metal and plastic material. These materials are subject to expansion and contraction due to temperature changes. Occasional creaking, popping, or cracking may be heard.
