Great Choice for Computer Monitor
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This was purchased to replace 4 computer monitors. Paring with the relatively inexpensive PNY GeForce GTX 960 2GB GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 Graphics Card made for an amazingly affordable upgrade. The 55" size was great for someone needing to sit back and monitor activity for long hours and enough work space to easily move things around as needed. It works great as a TV too allowing all computer sound to run pass thru to the monitor's speakers making for a much cleaner and actually simplier installeation

Amazing TV
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This 4K TV is amazing, the picture is by far the best out of many options out there. Before buying this TV I had bought a 4K LG TV of the same size and specs and I had to return it because the image quality was terrible. I bought this Samsung TV to see if it would be better and my god, the difference is tremendous, we are very happy with this TV, we were able to have the price matched from another retailer that was running a sale so it worked out even better.

Don't buy from vendors who disable features!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this TV a couple months back after reading a lot of reviews of similar (50-55" 4K TVs) and had decided mostly that I was looking for a well reviewed LG or Samsung. I should stop here and mention that I had a 40" Samsung TV years ago that was very good and lasted a few years, so it was a positive for me. On the other hand, I also bought a Samsung refrigerator which was an expensive piece of junk whose water and ice dispenser never worked well to start with and then broke multiple times. I also have owned Galaxy S5 and S6 phones, and had issues with both as well. So I've been very hesitant to buy Samsung (BTW: Thankfully I'm not one of the consumers shafted by either their exploding phones or exploding washing machines, quality stuff there Sammy!) I ended up pulling the trigger on this TV, got it home and set it up. Picture and sound were, and are, incredible. And the remote and on-screen menu are very easy to use. So on those counts, so far it's a good unit. However - maybe a month ago I noticed that Samsung had mysteriously places a new app right at the beginning of my customized app bar (this is the bar listing buttons\icons for the Samsung Smart TV apps you have chosen to appear there for easy access when you press the "home" button). Yesterday, I get home, turn on the TV, and suddenly there is a message saying terms of service have changed and I had to accept new ones including agreeing to let internet based ads appear on the TV. I refused to accept this and all of my SmartTV apps were instantly disabled. I contacted Samsung technical support. First thing, they wanted access to have remote control of my TV to do something to it, which at this point I was not about to allow. Then onto the discussion of them changing the terms of service, and they said I would have to accept them, and the internet ads, or I would lose my Smart TV apps. After a few choice words, I terminated the call with them. Then I reset my TV, which (after signing in to my Samsung account) brought back the smart apps, then I disabled future software updates. Dear Samsung and Best Buy - I will never willingly ever buy a product from a vendor who is going to remotely send down a software update that deletes or blocks a feature that was already on the device and which I paid for. This should be illegal, and BB, you should tell vendors this angers your customers and refuse to carry their products unless they stop (and Samsung has gotten in trouble for this very thing with TVs in the past). Also, BB - I'm wondering - how many meltdowns across all of Samsung's product lines are resellers going to put up with before they force Samsung to improve their products and policies? VERY unhappy with Samsung right now.

Looks a bit washed out on default settings
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am not impressed with the picture quality on this screen, other than it looks pretty good for such a large screen. We didn't really need another TV but the price was right so I bought this one to shuffle things around and make this the primary TV. One small problem, the old primary TV is a Panasonic Plasma. I'll tell you what, that plasma may not have the monster screen but the picture quality is easily double that of this Samsung. The colors on the plasma look very rich, deep and real, where they look fakey and washed out on the Samsung. The color black is difficult to come by on the Samsung. I have messed around with every setting there is on this TV, with every kind of source I have including my gaming PC with it's super fancy video card and can't get it the Samsung to look anything more than decent. There is little you can do to control the aspect and how the viewable area of the picture is displayed on the Samsung. It desperately wants to stretch and zoom everything. It wants to do everything for you, the problem is, it doesn't know what it is doing. If you leave any of their picture quality functions like the Motion rate 120 on, you had better love fakey looking borders and jittery viewing. If you know how a TV can and should look I would avoid this model. They have a long way to go. This TV is designed for people who just want to plug it in and watch cable TV on a big screen. This is not a fancy highly functional TV with a great picture, it's a just a big TV. And that's all it is. A big TV.

Samsung 4K UHD
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a GREAT TV! If you're looking to upgrade from a HD 1080P, 4K is the way to go. This is an amazing TV for the price I paid, and 4K is coming to just about everything in the near future. Worth the upgrade and would easily buy another if needed.

Not great
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Guess I was expecting more. I expected to be blown away by this TV versus my 1080p Vizio LCD and wasn't, marginally better at best. Playing 4k video on netflix side by side and honestly didn't think it was much better on this unit...Noticeable motion blur, color is just ok, blacks are milky. Probably going to fork out the few hundred extra and try the Vizio P series instead.

Smart TV with Multiple Software Bugs
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Video freezes about every 3 hours when watching Amazon Prime - google "Amazon Prime freezes on Samsung TV" for details. I have a wired internet connection. No similar problems on Netflix or TED. Picture was washed out and drab. Setting Picture Mode to Dynamic results in nice picture. Factory setting for contrast is 100%. Reducing the value results in drab picture. With my PC connected via HDMI, the picture had black bars on all sides and a distorted image with fuzzy text (Videos are recorded and played with Windows Media Center). Same setup worked perfectly on an older Samsung TV for over 3 years. Discovered that changing the Screen Refresh Rate on my PC from the default of 60 to 59 (or any other value) "fixed" the problem. Seems like a Samsung bug to me, but not to Samsung Support. Dealing with Samsung Support is an unpleasant experience. The support personnel have poor English language skills.

Good when it works
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had this tv about 2 weeks. I installed it and calibrated it myself (have a background in tvs). when the tv works it looks great for the money, but that is when it works. When using the built in apps and even some external steaming devices the screen will flicker black for multiple frames. Then to an extreme it will just give me a black screen and no sound. Though menu will still come up. I have gone through samsung support 5 times and they claim nothing is wrong but the problem consists. the wifi card this tv has is sub par at best i have 150 mbps internet speed testing my laptop and phone right next to the tv i get around 90mbps (router is across the house through multiple walls of different material but obviously way more band width than i will ever use at one time) The tv speed tested at around on average 9mbps which is barely enough to even stream 1080p. Maybe mine is just defective but i will be returning it today. Though despite all that when it does work man does it work well picture quality is top notch for this price range.

Great TV for the price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm sure there are better televisions out there, but for the price this is terrific. It was around the same price as a regular hd tv, but with this uhd tv I don't need to worry about it becoming obsolete right away.

Great Buy
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This was a great pick up at the price. I have 3 Samsung TV's and enjoy them. 2 of them are the UHD models and the picture far exceeds expectations. Will be even better once programming catches up with them.
