Let it be known that I went through 2 different televisions before sticking with this one. I went through the Samsung KS8000 and the Sony 830. The KS8000 was great in concept, but disappointing. It felt and looked a bit cheap, but the user interface was IDEAL. It was my most favorite thing about it. However, I HATED the motion blur. The definition overall was great, but it was just too noticeable when someone would reach across the screen and you saw a motion trail. I returned it. I moved on to the Sony 830, which was IDEAL in motion. Almost little to no motion blur HOWEVER, despite much effort to color correct, the definition just didn't show like the Samsung did. The one thing I hated (absolutely detested) was the user interface. Android TV UI is a nightmare. There are constant crashes, lag, and it would freeze up on more than one occasion. For a $1,200 TV, it wasn't acting like one. The remote itself was like a brick, coming from the Samsung smart remote. It's 2017. How does a post 2015 4K smart TV not have a smart remote? You can pair your Dualshock 4 Playstation remote to it, but it doesn't work for all the apps. Let it be known, I'm a HUGE Sony buff, but this one just didn't do it for me. Then the MU9000 came out, and I was skeptical because it was still so new, but I LOVE IT. It has a familiar feel from the KS8000, but this one is simply faster and sleeker. Screen: Great definition, little to no motion blur. You have the ability to raise up the motion control to reduce blur and judder, same as the 8000, however this one does a much better job at it. Streaming 4K on 75/75 Fios internet, the judder was minimal. Not gonna lie, I notice it only because I have such a particular eye for it, but I'm certain that the casual user wouldn't even notice at all. Streaming and upscaling are really where you see the blur/judder most. I popped in a 4K blu-ray and that's when I was truly satisfied with the picture. UI: It's strikingly similar to the previous 8000, if not, the same--however, it's noticeably faster. No wait to boot, stand-by mode in/out in less than a second, and no crashes whatsoever. The smart remote is what completes it perfectly. This remote comes second as my favorite remote on a smart TV after the LG smart ones, only because it doesn't have the cursor. Sound: Newer TVs nowadays come with really flat-sounding speakers to entice you to buy soundbars and such. The Sony 830 was a real example of that, it sounded so flat and low. The MU9000 comes with sound-packed speakers with presets that cater to any viewing mode, whether it be causal watching, movie, or sports. There's also an option to go from 3.1 to 5.1, simply. Appearance: Unlike the KS8000, this one didn't feel cheap at all. There's no shiny plastic back and this model actually comes with the ability to conceal your cables within the stand so there's no cable mess. The stand also isn't so bulky, it's seemingly compatible with any TV stand. After the headache of going through 2 different TVs each with its own set of disappointments, the MU9000 is a great in-between that met my needs from reducing judder/motion-bur, great screen definition, exceptional upscaling, and a perfectly friendly user interface.
