Bought this tv and i was truly disappointed on the image this tv gives. This tv looks so dark compared to how they look at the store. I wouldn't really recommend it to anyone spend a little more and get a better quality tv.

    Great entry/mid level 4k TV

The Pros: -Great sound quality and size to value. -Quick and painless setup/installation (both using on-screen menus or smartphone). -Media hub allows you to quickly access and change between streaming services without the need for other devices like a Firestick or Chromecast (like YouTube, Netflix, or Hulu). -4k Capability (4k videos look amazingly good for the price point). -Simplistic design (great for the less-tech inclined who want quality picture) The Cons: -Not the clearest picture when not using 4k. There are many other TV's out there with greater quality images - with higher prices as well. -There are known issues of it turning on and off by itself (seems to be an issue with the Eco setting), although I have not experienced this issue personally. -TV Comes with a lot of Pre-Loaded Apps which removes a lot of usable space. -The remote is very simplistic for a "Smart TV". Overall score: 4/5. It's not the top of the line TV, however, it's a great entry/mid level 4k TV for anyone who want's quality image on a budget; I'd recommend seeing some similar models in-store first to get a better idea of what you're getting - so far I'm happy with the purchase.

It wouldn't take much to allow this tv to read a variety of formats of video over usb. Yet it doesn't play any of the popular formats currently. I wouldn't buy this tv

Remember that these tvs are displayed in the store while playing 4K discs and are showing the ultimate picture quality you can get on each set. That being said, after we set it up and turned it on, we came close to packing it up and returning it. The picture was not clear, fuzzy halos around people and neither the color nor sound was what we expected. We tried many picture settings before we found the real answer. Go into Settings, then choose General > External Device Manager. Select HDMI UHD Color, then select the HDMI port that you need to enable. Now the tv looks and sounds like it did in the store display. Without this setting enabled, the HDMI cable coming from our cable dvr box to the tv was not doing it's job. Once we figured this out, we are very satisfied with the Samsung NU7100.

I picked up the 58 inch for 537 total and was surprised by the overall quality of this model. My original intent was to skip this series and go to either the 8 series or q6fn due to some of the reviews. I think it's worth the price paid. Pros -Cost -black levels are very good -off angle is very good for my use -brightness is surprisingly good.. Even with all my windows open -reflections aren't too bad -no screen uniformity issues...I was lucky and received a near perfect panel. Cons -remote sucks -navigation is slow for 2018 -have had a few instances where the TV turned on by itself.... Not often but enough to notice -reviews... I added an extended warranty considering the reviews online -no 5ghz wifi smh -motion is not great... Requires some time to get use to... Save yourself time and turn automotion off lol All in all.. It's a good tv but there is nothing smart about it... So as long as you don't expect it to be an all in one solution it is fine. I have had it for about a month and would buy it again but wouldn't spend more than $500 pretax.

    Pretty Good Picture, But......

Bought this model Jan. 1, 2019. The sound is quite good. Did not really need a sound bar. Features are excellent to navigate and set up is a piece of cake. However, the picture was a challenge. I was constantly tweaking the picture from video source to channel changes. On non 4k viewing the picture was dark. Very crisp and defined but dark. When high contrast was off or low it would wash out the picture. The 4k is, however, outstanding in all respects. To get the best picture non 4k you need to sit directly in front of the set. Two steps to the left or right and the darkening would start in. Color is fantastic though. Also I noticed that daytime viewing is in fact excellent. It's the night time when the picture gets too dark and yes, ambient lighting was in use. I tried every setting combo I could do and just didn't like the viewing profile or constant tweaking. Well, today I exchanged this model for a Samsung MU6070 58. WOW - what an improvement. The N model is 2018 and M model is 2017. The 6070 hands down has a better brighter picture, better side viewing and less tweaking! The color is outstanding .

Very Pleased With Performance for the Price

Being past time to retire a 55" Sony LCOS projection TV in another room, decided to move our 4 yr old Samsung 55" Series 6 LED living room TV to that room. So looked for a 58-60" new TV for the living room that would be an improvement over the older one. The 58" size was best for the space so that was a positive. Not willing to splurge on OLED/QLED at this point. This is just day 2 but so far am very satisfied with this 58" Series NU7100. As usual, the Dynamic picture setting is store-like harsh / overkill. Standard, with default settings, was a bit dim in the evening, as reported by others. Turning off auto dimming (under General/Eco tab) and adjusting Picture backlight, brightness, sharpness and color makes for a very satisfactory picture. Better in many respects than the 4-yr old LED. Our sound is from each source to the receiver so the TV sound is not used, so no comment on that. I noted that a couple people had the TV turn on by itself in off hours. I shut down most of the ECO settings, in case the latest software did not correct that, hoping not to see that problem. Off axis at high (45 degrees) angle the picture does lose a lot. Overall, I think this 58" at $549 (March '19) is a definite bargain. Unless a problem arises, I would recommend is this size range if not wanting to step up in cost to OLED.

Entry level TVs have become much better. It's just a 60Hz panel without a super low response time, but the latency is only 13.7ms., so I can wireless stream PC games to it with no apparent lag. This panel does not support wide color gamut, but colors look very good nonetheless. Like all VA panels it washes out at an angle. The smart features suck so get an nvidia shield or apple TV, But for the price this TV is well appointed.

The picture is great. Watching football games I do see a little ghosting from players helmets or the football when going thru the air. Thought this wouldn't happen with the 120 refresh rate. Secondly this tv has turned itself on a few times, 2 nights ago it was at 2am and i hear it downstairs. Seems this is a known problem with samsung. I called them and the rep had me turn off one feature the other rep recommended a service call or return i t. I'll be returning unfortunately. This is a huge hassle.

Ordered this online and picked up in store. Great experience all-around, no waiting in line at all. TV has everything with multiple HDMI inputs and USB input. Not sure about the speakers as I have a soundbar and subwoofer, so sorry no comment on the speakers. The picture couldn't be better! Well worth the price and a great size!

Bad experience with my 3rd Samsung TV

I have 3 samsung tv's in my home. 2 50" models and now this 58". I tried to have some brand loyalty because I've never had an issue with the other 2 tv's at all. First problem straight out of the box - the tv will not recognize my Xfinity/Comcast box. I've plugged it in via HDMI the same as my other ones. However, when setting it up initially, the only choices I get are for a Dish Satellite Hopper box, A DirecTV box, and "Other". Of course I have to select other. When XFINITY is recognized on my other tv's, it's able to show me the channel guide and suggest to me what shows are currently on with a status bar on how much of the show I've missed. Can't do that on mine. 2nd issue is for the universal remote. Typically, you should be able to hit the Source button and there is a "Universal Remote" selection on that screen so i can program my remote directly with my Xfinity box. That selection is not there. I called Samsung and they were able to take control of my tv remotely and they tried to look for it and just gave up and said my tv doesn't have it. So now I have to use two remotes to control the cable channels and the other one for the smart hub. 3rd, This TV cannot download the STARZ app. This is so weird as my other tv's are series 6 2017 models and this is a 2018 series 7 (which I thought would be more sophisticated) The app doesn't work on this tv. I'm still in my buyer's remorse period and I'm truly considering removing this tv from my wall and taking it back. These are just basic features that my less expensive tv's have. It's very disappointing.

58 inch Samsung - just okay

Best Buy installed my new 58" Samsung TV yesterday. The installer was exceptionally helpful, so this review is not reflective upon him or his service. On the evening of installation, we were busy and didn't watch much TV. This is the day after installation. Now I find that the base sounds of the television reverberate somewhat, with a constant and continual faint deep humming sound, which is annoying to the point of being distracting, thereby taking away the quality of the programs themselves that I am watching. Also, the sharpness of the TV is less than that of 2 other Samsung (32") TVs that I have. Very disappointing.

    HDMI-ARC issues

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Loses HDMI-ARC soundbar/receiver sound every few days. Problem is only resolved (for a day or two) by unpluggging the TV from power. There are PAGES of threads in Samsung support forums of people having the exact same issue with any number of soundbar/receiver combos. From the sounds of it Samsung has been unable to resolve it for anyone and I fear reaching out to them is going to be a waste of time. I am likely going to return it and go with a non-Samsung before my return window closes with Best Buy. I had to exchange a new Samsung we put in our bedroom a few years ago, only for the replacement Samsung to have the exact same issue (turning itself on randomly... (freaky when it happens while you are sleeping!). Took the 2nd one back and exchanged it for a cheaper Sharp TV and been happy ever since. So disappointed, I love other Samsung products and wanted to give you another chance. My mistake. At least I was smart enough to keep the box.

    DOESN'T WORK WITH SLING DVR

I love the picture quality, but DO NOT GET THIS IF YOU USE SLING TV. You can download the Sling App, but the Sling App does not support the DVR feature. We ended up having to buy a Roku so we could use the DVR feature. Apparently this is also true of LG's interface and their Sling App. After we got it home, I did a little more reading and the only Sling App where the DVR feature does work is on Roku.
