$999.00 Black Friday DEAL!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First of all, at $999.00 great deal on Black Friday weekend. Did not open up till 12/16/13, due to lack of reviews. Pulled the trigger and set up tv. Yes, you need to tweek the settings. Sound is fine for small room, but with a 65" you should have a surround system. It is all about your needs. Mine is cable and blueray-wi-fi. (2 HDMI's) I just hope it lasts as long as my other samsung tv's. Lots of snow here, so I need the TV.....Happy Holidays to all of you.

Average picture at best
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Like many other reviewers the main attraction for this TV was size, price and brand name. I was concerned because there were no reviews at the time, but figured the price was right so I'd give it a try. I knew what I was getting with the features, so I am not bothered about lack of inputs/audio output. I played around with the picture settings for a couple hours, and while it improved the picture it never quite got to a level I was happy with. I own other Samsung LED TVs that have a much better picture, however these were more expensive models. I wouldn't go so far to say the picture was bad, but was just average. As with anything, you will get what you pay for, so I am really not that surprised that it isn't the best picture. If you want a high quality picture, get a higher quality model. I should've known better, but it was worth a gamble. This isn't the TV for me, I will be returning it even if I have to sacrifice a bit of size for a better picture. If you are not wrapped in the quality of the picture, but want a huge TV for a good price from a known brand this could be a good fit for you.

Higher Expectations
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this TV to replace a nearly 4 year old Samsung 52" 240Hz LCD that is mounted in my living room. This unit I bought was a customer return on cyber Monday that was missing part of the stand, so the price was right, but once it was mounted to the wall and I spent days and countless hours messing with the picture settings I'm just not happy with this TV. If you are used to watching a 240Hz tv or a 600Hz plasma, you'll have a hard time convincing yourself that saving $500-$600 was worth it. Peoples faces are blurry and out of focus one second and clear the next, a moving white or lighter colored image against a black or dark background has trailing, letters will sometimes have ghosting around them and to my family the color is also somewhat off, (Target logo looks more pink than red). What it boils down to is what you are used to watching and how picky you are with your picture. If size and price are the main factors then TV has that, if picture quality is what you are looking for, save yourself the hassle of hauling it home and back to the store. I will be returning mine today to look for a 60" with a 240Hz refresh rate.

So far not so good
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I don't usually write reviews on products, but I felt the need on this one. i bought this over the Black Friday weekend, anzd it sat in my dining room until yesterday when my friend could come and mount it on the wall. Upon opening the box I no the the control pad under the tv was hanging out, my buddy quickly saind dont worry about it and pops it right back in, and so it did, once on the wall looking great I might add I started it up and there was no sound and a fuzz picture from one of the hdmi ports but not the other, I switched overthe cables thinking that was the problem, that did not fix it, I took down the TV and the HDMI port is damaged. I dont know how these items gets past QC but, I hoping for a smooth exchange at the store.

Great bargin for a 65" LED
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I read a few reviews before purchasing so I knew I was getting a television without the best sound, but what I didn't know was that I would be unable to connect a sound bar with purchasing a few extra cables. I can overlook that. That's my fault, however customer service at Samsung needs some serious help. As a loyal Samsung customer I expected better service. I called technical service because Google Chromecast was not working on the tv. The first time I called I was hung up on when the employee didn't understand what Google Chromecast was and when I called back and it explained the situation to the new representative he snickered, said he would connect me to tier 2, and then placed me on hold for an hour never coming back.

A Fair TV for a Great Price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Went to store Thursday evening and picked up TV. Connected that evening (replaced a 11 year old 42" DLP). Adjusted settings out of box and watched movie - pretty nice. Next day watched a variety of sports (hockey, soccer and football) and was disappointed. Blurriness and lines appear on screen, not at all impressed. Went back on Saturday and purchased the Samsung 60F7100 and it is beautiful; yes more money but well worth it in my opinion. I took this back yesterday about 20 minutes after BB opened and there was already one behind the counter that was returned before mine.

Returned for a Sharp - here's why...
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Let me start by saying I only buy major appliances and electronics from Best Buy because they price match and have Excellent customer service. So this isn't a bash against Best Buy. I have owned Sharp televisions for many years and never had a problem with them. I had two 52" LCDs from Sharp and needed a larger television for the living room. I had my mind set on the 70" Sharp but got the email on thanksgiving about this deal for 999 and sight unseen (big mistake) I took a chance and ordered it. I heard great things about Samsung so I had high expectations. I had this up on the wall for 2 weeks and I did everything possible to avoid returning it. I googled like crazy and tried various picture settings trying to get it to look just good. Sadly it never happened. After tweaking the picture for days I could only ever make it just tolerable. But the worst part is the glare. That for me was the deal breaker. I have large windows directly behind where I sit and all I could see in the television (even at night) was the reflection of what was behind me. That's just unacceptable. Sharp has a non reflective matte finish and for bright rooms that is a MUST. Had I seen this in the store I would have known better. I returned this (which was an inconvenience) and bought the 70" Sharp for more money the same day. Bottom line keep in mind the glare/reflective factor of the screen and what type of environment it will be placed in. But I will continue to buy from Best Buy and they made returning this a snap. Good luck!

Great size, lacks features
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Got this on the black Friday sale for just under $1,000. Should have known too good of a deal. There is no audio out to hook a sound bar. The screen is glitchy when scores go across the bottom but seems fine other than that. If you don't watch espn and have a receiver to run your components through then this is a steal. Also a good deal if you just need a large monitor.

Something's clearly just not right...
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had this TV for a day & 1/2. Out of the box, the picture on this TV is terrible. First & foremost, all of the defaults gave me an unacceptable picture. It would be acceptable one moment & then once the scene changed from dark to light, it wouldn't work-- it would be too bright or too contrasty. For a sports game, it would look great during a close up, but once they showed the field, the players, would look like cut-outs - they simply didn't blend in -- I think they were over sharpened -- or over contrasted. Maybe this is how LED TV's are - I don't know - but i'm totally unimpressed. One reviewer offered suggested settings in his review & I tried those & it did make my TV watchable; but something's still quirky about it. Anything streamed from Netflix or amazon was next to unwatchable (unless it was a cartoon); There were just too many patches of pixels that didn't get refreshed & it made my high def picture look like a 320 x 200 fat pixel mess. I can't see spending $1000 on something that is sub-par that i'm planning on using every day. I really expected more from this purchase & am seriously disappointed this product.

broken within a month
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this TV on Nov 29 2013 as a black Friday deal for $999. It was working fine at the beginning until last week it started to blackout every once a while and came back in a minute or two. During the blackout the tv set is completely unresponsive. Google said it was a common problem for Samsung (and led to a class law suit) caused by a weak overheating capacitor. Returned the TV set to store. It's now listed $1499 which is not worth buying for the picture quality. Picture quality was Ok (see my reviews below) for the price. Set up was super easy (except for its weight). The picture quality was ok. The default color setting was too brilliant to be natural. Once I reduced the color setting from default 50 to 40 everything looks much more natural. The black is not so black. The dynamic contrast might help in some cases, but in some case it resulted in noticeable artifacts. It didn't bother me too much once I got used to it.

If you have little standards, this is for you!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's an incredibly bare bones display set — to cut back on cost, no doubt and so can be forgiven. The size is more-or-less cool if you want something big and cheap and don't care for audio out, TV speakers, or something called black. I'll only go over the visual fidelity of the set, as most other gripes regarding the displays missing features should already be well known from the specifications list. There are pretty much only two ways to use this thing: In a high-contrast, make your eyes bleed, sort of way; or in a low contrast, I can-see-details-but-there-is-no-such-thing-as-black; your pick. Most of my time was finding a compromise of the two; there is no such thing on this set. I spent hours and hours trying to adjust the screen for accuracy with some various test patterns and a red filter, to no avail. Granted, this set wasn't for me and was for someone with far poorer taste than I posses; I thought they may be fine with it considering what they currently owned and deemed satisfactory. Though I thought it — genuinely is — superior to their current display in particular in regards to the abhorrent and offensive ghosting of their current set, it was concluded that a new set should be met with some finer standards; especially for something going to be around for many years. Poor viewing angles, backlight bleed that fills two-thirds of the screen from both right and left, a couple of huge uniformity blotches near the center, and THE WORST GAME MODE I have ever been the victim of witnessing; all were issues that plagued the set. I didn't even get around to finishing the color calibration due to the poor contrast/brightness levels. My visual test devices primarily consisted of a Xbox One and PS4 which I also discovered seem to require different HDMI/DVI RGB ranges from a display itself; Standard for the Xbox and Non-standard for the PS4. That also caused much confusion as I was thinking the in-console visual options were to blame for the difference in contrast between the two consoles. I had access to two blu-ray copies of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows — didn't actually watch it but it looked like a terrible film btw — and so used them and a few similar scenes to switch between and aid in calibrating. After discovering the HDMI/DVI RGB range issue, I was able to get indistinguishable video output from both consoles. I later tested this on my own display and found it to be consistent with my earlier findings. For reference my personal display preferences are fairly high: A Dell U2711 is my main computer and gaming monitor while my Panasonic P60ST60 is my living room theater experience. Both are calibrated quite well; the Dell, factory calibrated with two calibrated color settings, and the Panasonic inheriting some of the THX integrity and spirit from it's cousins abroad as well as it's ancestors and bigger brothers, minus the actual cost and procedure of being THX certified. So, I'm a person who knows and likes their blacks like their coffee; deep and rich. If you are looking for a large screen on a dime and have poor or no taste; you might be inclined to check this one out. If you have about a grand to spend and want some bang for the buck and really terrific visual fidelity, I would tell you to go out and check out a Panasonic P50ST60 which can be had for even less than this monstrosity and with colors and levels that are finger-licking-good.

Great TV!!

NO audio output!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I agree with one of the other reviewers. I thought I was getting a great deal and then found out that there is no audio output! It seems insane to me to have a tv of this supposed quality and not be able to connect to a sound bar.

Terrible Black Levels, fair otherwise
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Ordered this as a Black Friday special. After it was delivered, I noticed that the colors were decent as-is, but the black levels were terrible. I immediately got a calibration disk and started tweaking the settings, it make the colors a little better, but the black levels were terrible. It seemed like every place where there was a lot of black was heavily pixelated and grainy. I ended up having them come back to get it and bring me a different model. You get what you pay for. I knew a 65" for $1k wouldn't be top of the line, but I expected better.

No longer a Samsung fan.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Let me start out by saying I am, or was, a huge Samsung fan. Everything in my house is Samsung, up until now. I purchased this tv like so many others on Black Friday. I said to myself "a 65 inch tv for 999.99!!! What a deal!!!" I was a bit apprehensive because at the time I couldn't find any reviews on this tv, at all. But because it was Samsung I knew I would be happy with my purchase. So I get it home and set it up and initially was a little worried because the factory presets looked terrible, specifically dynamic, almost unwatchable in my opinion. I played around with the settings and found a nice balance I could live with. So I have it set up and am watching a movie with my wife, and I notice a white shadow across the screen that won't go away, no matter how I adjust the settings. I gave it a couple of days because some other reviews said you need to let the LED tvs "break in". After 6 days it was still there and by this time was all I could look at. I called Best Buy and they said bring it back, its a defective tv. Something to do with the led lighting. I repack the thing, haul it back to best buy, and exchange it for another one. I get the new one home, hook it up, turn it on and have a pixel burnt out! So I am 0 for 2 on this tv. I repack it yet again, take it back to best buy, at which time I'm saying to myself I'm not exactly getting a best buy, and tell them I do NOT want a 3rd one. I want a comparable tv to what I purchased. The only problem now is all the Black Friday sales are over and I'm paying full price for pretty much any tv I find. All Best Buy would do for me was price match the sharp that I decided to go with, which is S.O.P. anyway! So after 2 tvs and 3 trips to Best Buy in my truck which gets 12 miles to the gallon, I ended up with a Sharp that I basically paid full price for. If you bought this tv and got one that doesn't have any defects and are happy with it you have more luck then me. The only word of advice I can give is you might want to consider purchasing the extended warranty, the longevity of this tv may not be that great. Actually what I would do is return it and buy a tv from another retailer that actually cares about making the customer happy, but that is just me.

Decent picture - lack in everything else
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This TV has a decent picture but the sound was rubbish and the amount of connections (2 HDMI, no Audio out,...) just ridiculous for a tv made in 2013. Returned mine today.

Defective straight out of the box
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We bought this TV brand new and was terribly disappointed when we hooked it up. The picture quality was terrible and one of the HDMI ports did not work. We unhooked it and turned our 6 year old Westinghouse 46" because it's picture was much better on it. After studying the reviews we thought we had purchased a good quality product and we wee terribly disappointed. Took it back for a refund immediately and when the "geeks" checked it out they agreed it was defective. Luckily we got a full refund.
