Jaw dropping UHD TV... no bull! Samsung's got it!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I needed to think for a while, the $3.3k price tag wasn't that attractive, but given the amount of features - I'm an IT professional - and also given that the price had come down quite a bit, I decided to hold my breath and take the plunge. I have to say the 1-yr mfg warranty is somewhat disappointing, but my experience with Samsung products made me think otherwise. So I added another 5-yr extended warranty. Amazon sells SquareTrade 5-yr for about $250, BestBuy sells GeekSquad 5-yr for $799... both are good and honor their warranties - I chose the BestBuy given they are local to me and I can take care of things on the spot. Disclaimer: NO, I don't own BestBuy shares, and No, I am not a BestBuy employee. Why did I buy the extended warranty? The power board - aka main poard - on the LED TVs have this tendency of being very sensitive to electricity fluctuations. I have my TV on a PC power filter (APC-BX1500 with extended pack), but given the initial cost of replacing the TV's board, I didn't want to take a chance. Quality. Do NOT believe the bad reviews - wireless not working or unstable, fuzzy picture, AnyConnect+/ARC not working, blah-blah-blah. Those "issues" are NOT the TV's issues - they are a DAU problem - to use a kinder term. DAU - Dumb A User. To those - read your frigging manual, follow it to the letter, and only then speak. Wireless works PERFECTLY. The TV has BOTH the 2.4 Ghz AND the 5 Ghz bands. I've experienced solid connection throughout. I own a D-Link DIR-860L dual-band router, I connected and remained connected to both bands without any problems. Beautiful colors, resolution, upconversion, sound - and the sound coming out of this flat panel is amazing considering the 1-inch or so thickness of the display! I've already watched several movies in 4k - Netflix 4k content, a few BRays as well. To be fair - for the BluRay part, I also own a Samsung BD-F7500 BluRay player with 4k upconversion of those BluRays that contain the correct content. I've watched Avatar, Total Recall, StarTrek, etc - the details are amazing. I had to get close within LESS than 1 ft of the TV set to be able to discern any pixels or jagged lines - and my eye vision is perfect, BTW. Conclusion - I no longer have to go to the theater to watch a 4K movie - I got the theater right in my room! I've used 3 out of the 4 HDMI ports with absolutely no problems - AnyConnect works on ALL of them. Had the Sony PS3, Samsung BD-F7500 connected via HDMI - hit the Tools button on the TV's remote, select the "AnyConnect" on top-right, then "refresh" if you don't see your device listed - they then show up, you select the one you want, and at that point you instantly control that HDMI-connected device with the TV's remote. Yes, I controlled the PS3 as well. A hint regarding the BD-F7500 player - although this is not the review for it, for those of you who don't know - there is a feature in the player's Setup menu - Picture, called "BDView". On the BRay player, enable the upconvert first, then enable this BDView, and leave everything else on Auto - you get 4k resolution and incredibly faithful colors :) The UHD TV also upconverted HD content from Netflix and Amazon to 4k :) Other features - I connected my UHD TV to my home media server; worked on first try. no errors. Do you have a USB keyboard laying around? Plug it into one of the USB ports in the back of TV - next time, instead of using the remote to cumbersomely hunt-and-peck on the on-screen keyboard, simply uise the USB keyboard and do the job in a 10th of the time. I used a Micrsoft Ergonomic USB keyboard - it worked, no need to reboot, etc. I also own a Samsung Galaxy S4 telephone - I was able to mirror the display directly to the TV with no problems. There's nothing to install. I also tried a friend's SG5 - also worked on the first try. For those who attempt this - you choose the "mirror" function on your phone, then on the TV's screen you click "Allow" for the connection. That's it. For those of you who want to hook up a laptop/PC to the TV and observe a small lag - that's normal. You should keep in mind that the TV is re-processing everything that you input through the HDMI ports. Your PC monitor doesn't do that processing - it's a straight-through, already processed by your PC's graphics card, and that's why you DON'T see lag on a PC monitor. Gaming through the UHD TV is still possible, you just have to keep your feet on the ground and have realistic expectations. I tested BattleField 3, in case you wonder. The PC wouldn't output anything over the 1920x1080 resolution, unfortunately, I couldn't push it more - I really wanted to. And conventional flat screen vs. curved screen - it's a matter of your preference. I prefer flat. The only thing that I saw being clearly superior in terms of picture color quality to this 4K UHD TV was the OLED TV... but that one is not in my ballpark. I'm not that rich yet. I'll just wait for a few more years. Am I sorry for anything with my purchase? NO. If there's anything to make me think twice, it's the $3.3k + the extended warranty that I had to purchase - but that's expected of a higher-end product. And still, am not sorry for buying it. I would definitely recommend this TV to those who can afford it.

Not worth the hype
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this tv solely based on the manufacturer stating that it would upscale to 4K. It does not look any better than standard HD. The volume is horrible. It would never connect directly via Ethernet. I am extremely dissatisfied with this television. I wish I would have went with the 75" non 4K model for less than the price of this one.

TV picture is amazing
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.TV Picture 100% Sound IS &%$@ spent over 2 hrs on phone with Samsung no resolve, blamed it on Direct TV HDMI cable which was new. I replaced with a Gold $40.00 cable, no resolve. Done the online survey and Samsung refused because it was negative. I spent alomst $2500.00 FOR A TV THAT SOUNDS LIKE A TRANSITOR RADIO, ONLY WAY I CAN WATCH IT IS WITH VOLUMN OFF AND SURROUND ON.

Absolutely Beautiful
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this TV for my newly remodeled basement and t is the perfect addition! it's was an upgrade from my old Mitsubishi 65" ! The picture quality is amazing, the sound is not great, but i have a nice surround sound! this tv has the best 3D i have seen in a home, and gaming on my PS4 is mind blowing, the game Destiny is even more beautiful with this tv. before i purchased this tv, i read a lot of review saying gaming in not that great. the smart feature work great, and the internet is quick so there no long waiting on load screens for youtube or netflix or anything. all in all an amazing tv. the price is a little steep but, i got it on a really good sale, but i still think it's worth every penny!!!!!

Best picture, for the price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This tv, for the price, is worth it. Did some research and decided on this one. Best Buy hadnt even yet opened one for display when I asked them if they had it (which is not saying much since the price dropped $500 in less than a month). The picture on this thing is the best I've ever seen and it is exactly what I wanted. I've not yet had it calibrated, as of today, since it needs a certain number of hours of run-time, but I've made some tweeks and picture is just amazing. I will say this, however, angle viewing can be some sort of a bothersome. I think this has always been a problem with LED TVs? Maybe I'm wrong? But, you will see some pixelation in the dark areas around characters in movies, or commercials, etc. When you sit facing the tv, none of this is noticeable. Wonder if the calibration will take care of this? I've watched the 4k videos on Youtube and they are amazing. I've bought the UHD video pack from Samsung and the content is unbelievable, but I'll post a review on that as well. I mainly look forward to 4k broadcasting, if and when its available, and all sports look stunning now. I watch plenty of Golf, Boxing, and looking at the NBA playoffs has been great. Newer movies look great, and older movies dont look anything like they did when they originally came out. Just an overall great tv and worth the price. If anyone has questions, I'd be glad to answer.

Great 4K LED
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I just upgraded from my Samsung 55" 1080/240Hz LED to the new Samsung 65" 4K 8550 seires LED, and what a difference with UHD. One bit of advice if you are thinking about upgrading to a new Samsung 4K, don't buy any model under the 8550 seires 4K. For an extra $500 there's a huge difference in the picture quality and 3D with the 8550 4K seires compared to the 7250 series 4K (which does not have 3D). Initially I purchased the 7250 series 4K but I returned it the next day for the 8550 4K. Overall I think this is the best 65" 4K LED on the market right now for under $3000.
