Had to return mine
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Hi, for most of you it can be a great tv set. Just few issues that made me return it and you may have to be aware of it: - very limited connectivity, small separate box with just a few HDMIs, USB, cable but nothing outside of basic. - Menu very basic, no expert settings, few adjustments you can make to picture settings, but really few only. I could not believe comparing to OLED LG expert menu. - This set it BRIGHT, after 1 hour my eyes heart. - Remote is good looking but not functional, only few buttons to control, more like a joystick. - at 65", if you sit less than 12 feet from it, you will get dizzy. At our 8 feet distance, it felt like sitting in the first row at the movie theater, turning head from side to side all the time to follow the action. Not a TVs fault. -when watching non HD source like older DVDs, VCR etc. SUHD had problems, grainy, blurry, really bad, OLED can handle standard definition much better. - After switching to OLED now I understand why it cost more money comparing to SUHD. You compare Ford to Lexus.

Dont forget M8 45mm screw
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my 4th TV purchase and after reading reviews on Amazon, Best Buy and Costco, I bought this TV. One thing that was a BIG surprise was mounting instructions. If you buy a Sanus or a Rocketfish TV mount, they normally DO NOT come with m8 45mm mount screws. Samsung provides these special TV mount supports in the box, that you need to buy 45mm screws. So after some search, I found them at Home Depot http://www.homedepot.com/p/Everbilt-M8-1-25-x-45-mm-Stainless-Steel-Pan-Head-Phillips-Metric-Machine-Screw-843398/204846016 In my opinion, they should just provide these screws as it adds a lot of inconvenience as you are in the middle of installation. The setup is pretty good and the one connect box does help in ease of installation.

Great picture bad design
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have 3 samsung tvs in my home but this one is my mother in laws which I had to set up further after the Geek Squad did the basic setup. Like they did not seem to know how to optimize the picture quality and a few other things. Also they chose to mount it on the wall mount already in place from the old Samsung TV rather than replacing the mount with the swing out mount I had my mother in law buy. I felt it would be easier to get to the ports on the TV if it swung out, but they convinced my mother in law otherwise and that did save her some money. There are a lot of pros to this TV but I am just listing the negatives. 1) The Optical and HDMI ports are NOT built into the TV. Instead there is a box the TV comes with that you have to plug in or there is no way to use the tV. A 65 inch TV and Samsung somehow did not think of a way to provide built in ports? 2) My Mother In Law is hard of hearing so I plugged in Headphone into the Optical Port on the TV This works when the TV is being used with the HDMI input coming from the other devices like the Xfinity box, but surprisingly it does not work when using the built in applications and using the TV built in speakers. Like the built in Netflix application in the TV will send sound to the TV speakers but not the optical port to the headphones regardless of whether the TV is set to internal or external speakers. So basically the TV is useless for any of the built in applications because my mother in law needs to have sound coming form the headphones. 3) Unless you want to leave the black box that has the HDMI ports in it, hanging down and visible, rather than concealed behind the TV, it is difficult to get to the ports of even see how they are labeled. My mother in law is not going to accept having a TV with a black box hanging down. Also Samsung did not provide a way to nicely snap the black box to the back of the TV. 4) The only apps you can run on the TV are the ones Samsung built in. I guess this is because the O/S is some Samsung proprietary version. This means that, as an example, there is no way to run Comcast's Live Stream application on the TV. This is something that runs on my Samsung Note 4 phone as well as on my Imac, Airbook, and Samsung laptop running windows. Another example would be Acorn, which is a British TV streaming service that runs on ROKU, Acorn is something my mother in law watches all the time because there is no foul language, over violence or inappropriate adult content. So she would need the ROKU even if the built in applications worked with head phones plugged in. 4) It has a built in web browser, but unlike a Samsung phone or a PC or a Kindle browser, it is not capable of running everything that a conventional browser can run. I found that true on my Samsung 55 inch i have at how as well. Any TV that has Samsung SMART HUB has a poor browser. SMART it is not. 4) The remote that comes with the TV is not button based. So as an example, to change Picture Size, you have to got to Menu, Scroll way over to the left , click settings, move to Picture, scroll to Picture Size, scroll to 4:3 or custom or 16:9 and then exit. Rather than just a button like they have on a full key based remote. You can use the Voice feature, but unless you use the exact words it expects, it says it does not understand. Like you can say Picture Size and it will bring you to the screen where you can scroll to choose the size you want, but if you say "Change Picture Size" it does not recognize that or if you said "Change Picture Size to Custom" or one of the other options, it does not recognize it, even though the words Picture Size are part of what you asked. While I give Samsung credit for attempting to build in all the features, they should concentrate on making a TV with easily accessible built in ports, better built-in sound options and not build in features that really are not ready for prime time. Personally if I were to buy a new TV I would probably buy Samsung but I would prefer a TV with built in ports like the Samsung I have in my bedroom at home that I bought a number of years ago, and none of these limited built in applications or poor quality web browser. It is like they are trying to be a PC but one more limited in function than their phones or even a chrome book. TVs should be simple to use. If we wanted something as complex as a PC, then we would buy a PC.

Perfect balance of Price and Performance
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This 4K TV blew me away. The picture is incredible, i love the interface, and it was easy to set up. We debated going for the 9000 series, but decided the balance of price and performance on the 8000 series was just perfect. We were upgrading from a 46" Samsung LCD 1080p TV, and the difference is astronomical. Highly recommend this to anyone looking for 4K without spending a fortune!

A mixed bag of thrills and frustrations
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this to replace a perfect 65 inch Mitsubishi big box TV. First reaction: amazing color rendition and clarity on 4 K content sourced from Youtube and Netflix. Then checked the regular cable content, and my initial excitement dissipated. Despite the upscaling, 1080p HD content is no better on this TV than on my old TV, on average, though TV studio shots seemed clearer, while other shots seemed less clear. More disappointing stiil are the color inaccuracies in rendering skin tones: white people appear more pink and black people more yellow than they are naturally, and these color divergences are not fully corrected even when one switches to "natural' picture mode. There also seems to be a problem with focus, which varies from moment to moment, sometimes well focused, sometimes slightly less focused. This causes eye strain as the eye keeps trying to adjust its focus. Are these deal breakers? Probably not. One can get used to them. What I won't get used to is flaws in the remote software. The TV remote can turn on/off set top boxes, AV receivers and Blue Ray players connected to the TV, control the volume of the receiver, and even changes channels on the set top box, but can't perform other functions such as recording a show! For that you have to switch back to the set top box's remote. However, the moment you use the set top box's remote (Comcast X11 remote in my case) to record a show, the TV remote gets reset to its native unpaired state, and you have to go through the setup process all over again to get the TV remote to control the receiver and set top box. I consider this a real flaw in the software and it drives me crazy. The possible solution is to switch to a true universal remote such as Logitech Harmony 650, but I've not had much success with those remotes so far. I made several calls to Samsung's tech support on these and other glitches but found them unable to address issues raised satisfactorily. All in all, a TV which is a mixed bag of thrills and frustrations.

Excellent TV!!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My Samsung LN46A650A1FXZA tv finally succumbed to two blown capacitors after purchasing back in 2006. I was torn between upgrading just in size or upgrading in size and resolution. My philosophy for upgrading technology is to always go with the biggest, baddest model in your budget to future proof your purchase a little longer. Hooking up the TV was super easy with Samsungs new technology. I could hook up all of my HDMI and optical audio for placing the TV on the stand.

Light bleed thru
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought the TV last Sunday (8/14/2016), it got delivered and set up on Tuesday (8/16/2016). Only after 3 day the bottom of the screen has a line of light bleed thru along the Bottom of the screen. The colors look good but now I'm having trouble watch it because of the bleed thru, Very distracting. I will be calling Best Buy today to either get it fixed, a replacement or Switch it for a Sony. I was really worried about spending this much money but I figured Samsung is #1 in the sale market so they must be the best. Very unsatisfied, it'll drop to a 1/2 star if I get a hassle about fixing or replacing. At this time I wouldn't recommend buying one

Great Samsung 65 4K Smart TV
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchase this Samsung 65 4K tv and couldn't be more happier, the picture is stunning and easy to set up. This tv is so smart that it was able to read my cable carrier and gaming system and very easy to set wifi. I logged in to Netflix and watch a 4K movie with no problems and the remote that it comes with is stylish and easy to use. I'm glad I waited for the sale at Bestbuy and bought this tv. If your looking to buy a 65 4K tv this is the one.

Great TV, forced obsolescence @ 5yrs.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Only issue with Samsung TV's is that they stop updating the Firmware/Software after 5yrs. They should not be allowed to force obsolescence, they should be required to maintain use until the product is no longer in circulation or at least make it 10yrs, since TV's last as long as they are maintained.

Phenomenal!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Absolutely love this TV! The colors, overall picture quality and design of the TV immediately appeal to any potential buyer. The HDR+ mode has limited applications but gives a good overall look while gaming. For me, it was between this and the Sony X850D. Sony is always perceived as the best television maker, but after a lot of reviewing and comparing, I strongly felt that this Samsung outperforms the Sony X850D. Very happy with my purchase.
