The reason why we bought the Samsung 65" 7 Series is our living room has a lot of sun light. The TV works real good in a bright room

Had an LG 42 in plasma. This tv is crystal clear and a big upgrade compared to plasma. The free Samsung tv channels that you get with it are worth every penny. No need for Xfinity channels . All you need is internet. Great picture and price.

      Hi Jocelyn,

Thank you for sharing your review of the TU7000 TV and the image issues you are having.

If you've switched on your TV and the sound comes through fine, but you do not see any picture, there are three potential issues.

      1) A connection issue; is the most common problem. Where there is a bad connection, faulty cables, or improper installation.
      2) An issue with the device connected to the TV. There may be a video output setting on the device that you must set properly before it outputs to the TV.
      3) There is something wrong with the TV, which will require a technician to assess the TV and find a solution.

If your TV has a black screen even when it's on, it's possible it could be your external device and not your TV. Please try these troubleshooting steps for your blank screen issue:

      1. Press the Home button on the remote.
If the menu appears, the TV is powered on but is either not on the correct source or not receiving a signal.
If the menu does not appear, the TV may be having power issues.

Check the red standby light, a little red light at the edge of the TV that you aim the remote at. In normal use, the red standby light is on when the TV is off (indicating the TV is on standby), and the red standby light is off when the TV is in use (or doesn't have power).

      2. Confirm the TV is set to the same source as the external device.
For instance, if your cable box is connected to HDMI 1, set the TV source to HDMI 1.
If the TV is set to the correct source, but there is still no image, unplug and reconnect the AV connections one cable at a time from both ends of each cable. If there's any damage to the cable, it will need to be replaced.
After reconnecting the external device, please turn it off and back on.

      3. Test the HDMI cable.
Some TVs have an HDMI cable test. Some models only have this test after a software update, and older models do not have it. If your model does not have this test or is not connected by HDMI, skip to the next step.
The test is designed for HDMI cords less than 6 feet long and may not give accurate results on longer cords.

To perform the test, make sure the TV's source is still on the HDMI setting for the cable you want to test, and then navigate to Settings > Support > Self Diagnosis > Signal Information > HDMI Cable Test > Start Test.
If the test says, the cable is bad, replace the cable. Service is not required.

      4. Test different external devices.
The final thing to rule out is the external device you're using. Try connecting a different device or using a different source port. If you could not test the cable in the previous step, then try swapping the cable.

If the TV can display a picture in any other setup, then you've ruled the TV out as the cause of the issue. Keep trying various setups until you identify the device or cable that is not working and troubleshoot or replace it.

The TV will need service if the issue persists after these steps. Please contact us so that we can better investigate your issue and assist you with a solution or replacement. If your TV is out of the 1-year Manufacturer's Warranty, you can locate a service center in your area by following this link: https://www.samsung.com/us/support/service/locations/

Should you have additional questions or wish to troubleshoot the issue, please call us at 1-800-SAMSUNG, 8 AM - 12 AM EST, 7 days a week. Our LiveChat agents are also available by clicking on the ‘Support’ link on our website.

Thank you for purchasing the TU7000 TV and for your review. I am very sorry that you are experiencing Wi-Fi connection issues.

You may want to go through these steps to check your network connection:
      1) Check the distance between the TV and your modem or access point. The distance should not exceed 50 ft. (15.2 m).
      2) Minimize interference by not using or turning off wireless devices. Also, verify that there are no obstacles between the TV and the modem or access point. (WiFi strength can be decreased by appliances, cordless phones, stone walls/fireplaces, etc.)
      3) Perform a network test to check if there is a network problem.

Press the Home button on your remote. Navigate to Settings > Support > Device Care > Self Diagnosis> Smart Hub Connection Test

      4) Please be sure you have the latest firmware update which enhances network connectivity. Ver 1401.7 is now available. Instructions for how to update firmware are detailed here: samsung.com/us/support/answer/ANS00062224/

    Average Picture

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Disclosures: I am an average consumer who has spent a long time researching TVs and looking at them in-stores. This is my opinion and not based on any rigorous testing data. Out of the box: This TV is very simple to set up. There are instructions on the lid of the box on how to unbox it as well as assemble it. The feet to the TV simply snap in and do not require any screws. Once assembled, the TV set up is also very simple and intuitive. The on screen instructions make set up a breeze, 15 minutes or less until the TV is ready to go. Samsung makes signing into your Netflix, Prime, and Hulu accounts easy by having you sign into the accounts on your computer and entering the code shown on the TV. This was very pleasant. From boxed to unboxed to ready to go, Samsung provided a very easy, intuitive process. A+ overall. Picture: I'll begin with the positives. The contrast is very good on this TV, rated at approximately 5:000 to 1. The difference between the blacks and whites is quite noticeable, and pleasant to the eyes. The color also appears to be very good. Changing the picture mode to natural from standard seems to improve skin tones and appears to improve overall color accuracy. However, while contrast and color on this TV are satisfactory, the brightness is noticeably lacking. This TV cannot get very bright, which is unfortunate. When looking at a TV in stores, there are two main things that cause you to stop and stare at a TV: 1)contrast and 2)brightness. (this is the reason people are so drawn to OLEDs, because they have a “infinite” contrast ratio). While the contrast is pretty good, the brightness is below average to say the least. The measure of brightness is the nit, it is how much light a TV emits. This TV is only able to produce approximately 250-300 nits, both in standard dynamic and high dynamic ranges (HDR). This causes the picture to “pop” less than other models that are able to produce 700-1000 nits. Because of the below average brightness, HDR in Netflix does not appreciably change from standard cable channels. This is not a TV for HDR, if that is what you are looking for. However, it’s high contrast ratio and upscaling to 4K content makes watching cable channels an enjoyable experience. C overall. Sound: The sound quality is surprisingly good. I had an old Bose sound bar that I connected through an optical cable input and I couldn’t tell the difference between the TV speakers and the sound bar. The speakers are able to get sufficiently loud and they even have an element of bass. Dialogue is easy to understand and clear. Of course, true audiophiles could benefit from a modern sound bar, but most people purchasing this TV will be satisfied with the native speakers. A overall. Operating system: The TV runs Samsung’s Tizen operating system. It is relatively intuitive and easy to use. It has a home screen with all of your favorites: Netflix, Prime, Hulu, and Disney. You can add additional apps to your favorites in the app store. It also has Samsung TV plus, which is free channels and movies. The operating system is smooth and relatively quick to respond. Samsung also supports apple airplay and apple tv, making mirroring of your iPhone or MacBook screen very easy. A overall. Remote: The TV remote is approximately 7 inches long. It has a number pad, a Netflix, amazon, and Samsung TV plus shortcuts built in. It does not have a backlight feature and has no voice assist button built in. However, the remote is functional and the TV responds well, even when not pointing directly at the TV. B overall. Conclusion: This TV is the entry level Samsung 4K television, and as such it does not have some of the high end features that really make a TV “pop.” It has an average picture with good contrast but poor brightness levels. This TV would be best for people looking to watch live TV channels but not great for people looking for a HDR Netflix viewing experience.
